MBRF concludes the 'Youth Knowledge Forum for the Islamic World'
The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF), in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and in collaboration with the Islamic World Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), concluded the 'Youth Knowledge Forum for the Islamic World' in Morocco under the theme 'Knowledge is the Future.'
The Youth Knowledge Forum (YKF) aligns with MBRF's ongoing efforts to empower young people, foster their creative and innovative talents in knowledge fields, and prepare them for tomorrow's professions. It also showcased inspiring success stories and young role models, highlighting pioneering experiences and impactful initiatives across the Islamic World.
His Excellency Jamal bin Huwaireb, CEO of MBRF, stated: 'The outstanding success of the YKF highlights MBRF's unwavering commitment to empowering youth, unlocking their full potential, and nurturing their creative talents. We firmly believe that young people play a pivotal role in shaping a prosperous future. The YKF's extensive engagement and robust international participation reflect the eagerness for knowledge among youth across the Islamic World, as well as their determination to pursue growth and explore new horizons in various scientific and intellectual fields.'
His Excellency added: 'At MBRF, we remain committed to launching innovative initiatives and projects that support and empower youth, equipping them with the tools and skills necessary to achieve their aspirations and adapt to the rapid advancements in knowledge and innovation. Investing in young minds is the cornerstone of sustainable development and the foundation for building societies driven by knowledge and innovation.'
During his closing remarks, Dr. Hany Torky, Chief Technical Advisor and Project Manager of the Knowledge Project at UNDP, stated that the trend now shifts towards launching a digital platform where young people can submit suggestions on ways to promote knowledge. These proposals will be reviewed and evaluated with the aim of putting them into practice.
For her part, Dr. Sally Mabrouk, Director of the Office of the ICESCO Director-General, commended the great success of the YFK. She noted the high attendance and the significant engagement of young people via live streaming, which reached nearly two million live views over the two days of the event. This, she said, reflects the growing importance of such forums in empowering youth and preparing them for the future.
The YKF hosted hundreds of young participants from across the Islamic World at the ICESCO headquarters in Rabat, with 600 attendees on the first day and 400 on the second. In addition to discussion sessions covering various fields of knowledge, the event featured success stories of creative and innovative young women and men, encouraging participants to pursue their aspirations and advance their intellectual journeys.

More than 150 youth officially kicked off their journey into the gaming industry at the launch of the first cohort of the UNDP Al Ghurair Game Development Bootcamp, held on the sidelines of the Dubai Esports and Games Festival. The initiative, a collaboration between the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation (AGF), HP and United Nations Development Program (UNDP), is designed to equip 500 Emirati youth aged 18-35 with the technical, entrepreneurial, and leadership skills to pursue careers in game development and esports management. 'At HP, we are proud to support the UAE's vision by empowering the next generation of innovators with the skills and tools they need to thrive in the digital economy. This collaboration marks a significant step in shaping the future of game development and esports in the region, and we are excited to help these talented young Emiratis realise their potential and unlock new opportunities within this dynamic industry,' said Mayank Dhingra, Global Director of Education Strategy, HP. The event brought together students, educators, industry experts, and representatives from partner organisations. Speakers included Dr Yousef Al Assaf, President of RIT University in Dubai; Mona Ghander, Vice-President - Partnerships and Programmes at the AGF; Mayank Dhingra, and Gokhan Dikmener, Technical Specialist at UNDP's Istanbul Centre for Private Sector in Development. 'By unlocking access to in-demand digital skills, this bootcamp is opening doors for Emirati youth to participate and shape the future economy,' said Mona Ghander. 'We are proud to support the UAE's ambitions through inclusive learning models that turn passion into purpose and talent into transformation.' Emerging opportunities The event also featured a keynote address by Faisal Kazim, Head of Dubai Programme for Gaming 2033 who offered an inspiring look into emerging opportunities in the industry. Kazim said: 'The bootcamp naturally aligns with the objectives of the Dubai Program for Gaming 2033, which is focused on developing world-class talent and positioning Dubai as a global hub for game development. Video games today are more than entertainment – they're a powerful medium for storytelling, cultural expression, and economic growth. By investing in our youth and empowering them with the tools to create, we're enabling a new generation to share their stories with the world and lead the future of this dynamic industry.' By fostering digital skills and building a sense of community, the bootcamp contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 4 on Quality Education, SDG 5 on Gender Equality, SDG 8 on Decent Work and Economic Growth, and SDG 9 on Industry Innovation and Infrastructure. The Digital Future is Inclusive: Innovation Week Tanzania 2025 Closes Strong, Powered by the Future Ready Summit
Innovation took center stage in Tanzania as Innovation Week Tanzania 2025 (IWTz2025) anchored by the Future Ready Summit (FRS2025) wrapped up a powerful five-day journey of ideation, collaboration and solution-driven dialogue. With the theme 'Innovation for an Inclusive and Resilient Future,' the landmark platform brought together a diverse mix of policymakers, innovators, private sector leaders, development partners, academia, and youth to reimagine Tanzania's development agenda through the lens of homegrown, inclusive, and tech-driven innovation. The events, held from 12th to 16th May 2025, served as a national platform to drive forward-thinking dialogue around digital transformation, urban development, climate adaptation, AI adoption, and inclusive technologies. Satellite events and activations extended the impact across regions reaching universities and communities in Arusha, Morogoro, Zanzibar, Mwanza, Dodoma, Iringa, Mbeya, and beyond, ensuring the innovation conversation was truly nationwide. Vodacom Tanzania PLC, UNDP Tanzania through its FUNGUO Innovation program and the Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH) jointly spearheaded the week's activities, showcasing the strength of public-private partnerships in shaping Tanzania's innovation ecosystem. Tech exhibitions, roundtables, workshops, and policy forums created a dynamic environment for engagement, idea exchange, and cross-sector collaboration. The world's first manual integrating ISO standards for knowledge, innovation, and AI launched by MBRF
The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) launched a first-of-its-kind 'MBRF Manual for ISO Integrated Knowledge Management, Innovation, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Standards.' The manual aims to drive government and commercial excellence and achieve integration between knowledge, innovation, AI, and smart technologies, in line with MBRF's ongoing efforts to support sustainable economic through technological leadership. Furthermore, the Integrated Manual offers ways to merge the three key internationally accredited standards, namely, ISO 30401 (Knowledge Management Systems), ISO 56001 (Innovation Management Systems), and ISO 42001 (AI Management Systems), marking a crucial milestone in the development of advanced management systems. The manual also addresses complex challenges faced by organizations in the digital age, particularly in regard to the management of expansive datasets, the urgent need for innovation and the burgeoning role of AI in enhancing services. His Excellency Jamal bin Huwaireb, CEO of MBRF, said: 'This trailblazing step highlights our keen awareness of the integral link between knowledge management, innovation, and artificial intelligence, which are the primary enablers of institutional success in the digital era. The manual's launch symbolizes the establishment of an integrated management system. By aligning key aspects like operational management with this robust framework, entities can streamline crucial processes and foster a culture of innovation, while leveraging AI ethically and effectively.' Hence, we view technology not merely as a strategic tool but as a gateway to a better future shaped by highly integrated and innovative management ecosystems.' The manual is based on the Integrated Management System (IMS), which brings multiple management systems under a unified framework to elevate operational efficiency, streamline procedures, and achieve institutional integration, while ensuring auditing and regulatory compliance. Notably, this is the world's first-ever manual to successfully combine these three ISO standards into a single document, underscoring MBRF's leadership in creating new models for managing knowledge-based institutions. During the launch, MBRF announced a comprehensive training program for government departments, aimed at empowering them to obtain various ISO certifications. The program provides an overview of the three standards, the interrelation between knowledge, innovation, and AI, along with practical training on designing integrated management systems tailored to specific organizational needs. The comprehensive training program will also explore strategies for developing operational policies and procedures, as well as promoting quality, institutional performance, and global competitiveness principles. The program will be supervised by MBRF's Chief Knowledge, Innovation and AI Advisor. MBRF is one of the first organizations to have created such a role. The manual serves as a powerful strategic tool for institutions to build smart and flexible operational systems that can keep pace with ongoing trends led by digital transformation and the growth of the knowledge-based economy, while meeting future demands. It also contributes to the objectives of the 'UAE Centennial 2071' and Dubai Government's digitalization initiatives by embracing the principles of integration, innovation, and the ethical use of AI in policy and public service design. Furthermore, the manual acts as an open invitation to both public and private sector entities to transition from traditional administrative models to more cohesive and proactive ecosystems.
