TUI launches new flights to very affordable African seaside resort with 300 days of sun
TUI is launching new flights from the UK to Agadir in Morocco - and it's sunny for most of the year.
The new direct flights from Newcastle to Agadir launched this week.

The flights will take place twice-weekly during the summer season.
The destination is know for having a busy port and sprawling beach resort, bragging around 300 sunny days a year.
The North Africa coastal destination has a blend of beach activities, cultural experiences and natural beauty.
One activity is a cable car ride up to the Kasbah Ruins for panoramic views.
For hikers, there is Paradise Valley - a scenic spot with palm trees, natural pools and waterfalls.
Alternatively, in Souk El Had, travellers can experience a traditional Moroccan market with a range of goods including spices, carpets, leather goods and souvenirs.
Agadir is a great destination for when travelling on a budget - for example the average beer costs around £2.85.
And a coffee on average will set you back £1.61.
Hotels can be found for as low as £17 per night and the average four-star hotel costs £98 per night.
Commercial director at TUI UK, Chris Logan said: "We're thrilled to add Agadir to our growing portfolio of destinations available from Newcastle Airport.

What's a holiday to Agadir like?
The Sun's deputy travel editor Kara Godfrey recently visited Agadir and shares her thoughts.
The Moroccan city is home to the country's largest market, Souk El Had, as well as a bustling harbour and modern marina.
Rebuilt following a devastating earthquake in 1960, the sprawling city nestles against the Atlantic Ocean and its palm-lined wide roads feel more Miami than Morocco.
I'm staying in Taghazout, a surf town with an ever-growing number of modern beach-side resorts, just 13 miles north of Agadir and its sizzling souk.
One of the newest resorts is the five-star adults-only Pickalbatros White Beach, which features pristine white marble steps, manicured gardens and a huge airy lobby offering views of the beach through giant glass windows.
It's affordable luxury at its finest, and the perfect place for a last-minute holiday with my closest gal pal.
Just steps away were the resort's six pools which wind around the sprawling resort — decked out with sunloungers, sofas and umbrellas for guests to enjoy.
The rest of our stay was spent exactly as a winter-sun holiday should be — ordering cocktails to our sunloungers from the beach bar as we posted smug photos on Instagram, annoying our friends and family. Days were punctuated only by poolside events, with tennis, football, darts and dance parties to choose from.
TUI is also launching 12 new flight routes from the UK this summer including African islands and Spanish cities.
Plus, the African city dubbed the 'Blue Pearl' named one of the most beautiful in the world.

Holidaymakers to Portugal can now use airport e-gates, says Labour
Faro airport in Portugal has begun to let British passengers use e-gates, the UK Government has announced. Downing Street expects British holidaymakers will be able to use the technology in their 'millions' after Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer struck an agreement with EU leaders last month. Nick Thomas-Symonds, the Cabinet Office minister, whose brief includes EU relations, said at the despatch box on Thursday that the deal 'makes life easier for holidaymakers'. The Prime Minister's official spokesman said: 'Yesterday, Portugal opened e-gates at Faro airport to British citizens, which will mean millions more Brits going to the Algarve will be able to use e-gates in time for the summer holidays.' He added: 'We're obviously continuing to work with other countries and other airports to ensure Brits can use more e-gates as soon as possible, and that work continues. 'It's obviously good news to see a very significant airport, I think, for British holidaymakers, opening e-gates to British citizens yesterday.' When he unveiled the deal last month, Sir Keir said that 'for holidaymakers wanting to get out this summer, they will want to know that they can do so easily and without delay and chaos'. The Prime Minister called on 'all EU member states to help make this a reality without delay'. Since Brexit, UK nationals have been unable to use e-gates in most Schengen Area countries. Passengers from the UK face warnings that passport controls on arrival to Portugal ' may take up more time, as the passport will have to be stamped and there are additional questions that may be asked by the border control officers', according to the Faro airport website. The Government has said the deal will smooth over 'legal barriers to e-gates use for UK nationals', once a new stamp-free biometric Entry/Exit System launches, due in October this year. Taking a question about steps 'to improve relations with the EU', Mr Thomas-Symonds told the Commons: ' The historic deal that we signed with the EU on May 19 is in our national interests – good for bills, borders and jobs. 'It slashes red tape and bureaucracy, boosts British exporters and makes life easier for holidaymakers. 'Indeed, I'm delighted to confirm this morning that Faro airport in Portugal will start the rollout of e-gate access to UK arrivals this week.'

Ryanair launches new flights from to two beach holiday hotspots – with fares from £35
RYANAIR has launched flights from Bournemouth to Chania and Rhodes. The new routes both will operate twice per week as part of Ryanair 's summer 2025 schedule. 4 Chania, located in Crete, Greece, is known for its 14th-century Venetian harbour, narrow streets and waterfront restaurants. When exploring the harbour, visitors can see a 16th century lighthouse and the Nautical Museum with model ships, naval objects and photographs. The flight from Bournemouth to Chania takes around 3hr45 and flights start from £34.99 per way. Rhodes, also in Greece, is the largest of Greece's Dodecanese islands. It is home to many beach resorts, ancient ruins and a thriving old town, with medieval streets. Rhodes is also home to a beach resort that's an 'adult playground' has live music at breakfast, huge pool and outdoor cinemas. Named Elissa, it is an indoor playground, with boutique shops, tennis courts, fitness studios and a spa. One-way flights from Bournemouth to Rhodes cost from £51.19. The new routes are two of 21 routes that the airline is operating to/from Bournemouth Airport this summer. Ryanair's comms director, Jade Kirwan, said: "Ryanair is pleased to see the first flights of our new Summer 2025 routes from Bournemouth to Chania and Rhodes take-off today carrying lots of happy holidaymakers. I found the perfect adults-only hotel for an all-inclusive Greek island holiday "These exciting new Summer 2025 routes will both operate two times per week, offering our UK customers even more choice at the lowest fares when booking their summer 2025 getaways" Ryanair's boss also recently warned of record flight delays this summer – with the UK now fifth worst in Europe and is expected to get worse. Comments from the CEO, Micheal O'Leary, came after the airline revealed Europe's worst air traffic control centres (ATCs) for delays and the UK has come in fifth worst with thousands of Brits impacted. Of Ryanair's flights between January 1, 2025 and May 26, 2025, 1,642 flights to/from the UK had been delayed. 4 In total, this meant that nearly 300,000 British passengers were impacted and experienced flight delays. Ryanair stated that the European Commission and European governments "have taken no action to fix their shoddy ATC services and ATC delays will now be even worse in summer 2025". The CEO added that if staff shortages and ATC issues are not sorted, there will be "record ATC flight delays this summer". In January, Ryanair also announced that it was to launch five new routes from a UK airport in time for the summer holidays.

I've walked the whole UK coast and this often-mocked island one hour from London is the friendliest seaside town
WHEN Quintin Lake travelled for five years around the UK, he encountered all sorts of coastlines, and people too. For his new book The Perimeter, Quintin ventured across entire coastline of mainland Britain which covered 6800 miles and found what he called the "friendliest place I've ever been." 7 7 Talking to Sun Travel about his coastal adventure, Quintin told us: "I thought Canvey Island in Essex was the friendliest place that I'd been. "I wouldn't knock places like that either because it's really easy to get to from London." The Essex island in the Thames Estuary near Southend-on-Sea that's separated from Essex by a network of creeks. The island's main attraction is an abandoned oil refinery which has since been turned into a nature reserve. It's now home to thousands of rare insects and plants, as well as nightingales, lizards and adders. Almost surrounded by water, it's no surprise that Canvey Island has lots of coastal spots that are popular with tourists. Concord Beach is a hotspot for crabbing, and there's even a tidal swimming pool. Just along the coast is Thorney Bay Beach which in 2021 received a Blue Flag award. The Canvey Seafront is a classic seaside resort, home to museums, cinemas, bingo halls, and a miniature railway. For kids, there's also Fantasy Island attractions, with rides and rollercoasters. Scotland's number one secret beach revealed 7 7 It's now the only theme park on Canvey Island after the closure of Leisure Island Fun Park. One of the biggest buildings on the front is Labworth Cafe, dating back to the 1930s, has been renovated and remains a beachfront dining area. To get to the island, visitors can get the train to Benfleet train station which takes 40 minutes from London Fenchurch Street, and then a bus from there, taking around 45 minutes. It wasn't just Canvey Island that Quintin was charmed by, he even went so far as to say that Essex was the most "underrated" county in the UK. He added that during his trip, he bumped into locals who were "really fun." He said: "It makes me laugh because all the counties next to each other have a real rivalry. "Everyone in Suffolk says Essex is horrible, and everyone in Suffolk says don't go to Essex. "But I find it quite endearing that every single county reckons that theirs is the best." 7 Photographer Quintin travelled through Wales, Scotland and England, finding incredible and sometimes hidden coastal spots. All in all, he took 1,300 pictures and spent a lot of time wild camping. Along the way he found some incredible spots like Achmelvich Bay which he said looked like it belonged in the Bahamas. There's white sands and bright blue seas - the only big difference will be the weather. Quintin's book, The Perimeter is out now and available to buy here. 7
