Former SG Actor Ian Fang Receives 40-Month Jail Sentence For Sexually Assaulting 15yo Girl
Discovering that a celebrity could commit such horrendous acts against a child is both heartbreaking and shocking. Yesterday (Monday, 19th May), former Singaporean actor Ian Fang, previously associated with MediaCorp, reportedly pleaded guilty to three counts of sexually penetrating a minor.
As a result, he has been sentenced to 40 months in prison for his crimes. Five additional charges, including sexual penetration of an underage girl, harassment, and obstructing the course of justice, were taken into consideration during sentencing.
'As a 34-year-old adult man, he knew what he was doing. He knew what was likely to take place each time he visited the victim. It was not a one-off event. He had taken advantage of an emotional vulnerability. His attempt to gaslight the [15-year-old] victim for the sole purpose of saving his own neck, without any concern for her welfare, also led to more harm to the victim,' said District Judge Eddy Tham.
According to The Straits Times, Ian Fang met the unnamed victim at an entertainment event in May 2024, where they exchanged contact information. The pair grew closer, eventually engaging in sexual intercourse in secrecy during nighttime on several occasions between June and July 2024. It was reported that the actor had manipulated the victim into believing he was her lover. Even when the teen was hospitalised for a flu infection, the former MediaCorp star would visit her in the middle of the night to commit the sexual offence on her hospital bed.
It wasn't until August 2024 that the girl's mother discovered the relationship and filed a police report against Ian. Despite being warned by police not to contact the victim, the actor continued to reach out to her via social media, even threatening to take his own life if he were to be jailed over the incident. Unfortunately for the victim, Deputy Public Prosecutor Lynda Lee told the court that she developed depression as a result of the persistent messages Ian had sent, urging her to convince her mother to drop the charges.
The victim was then eventually admitted to the Institute of Mental Health and was diagnosed with adjustment disorder. Ian Fang has deactivated all his social media pages following sexual offence charges. His sentence will begin on 16th July.

Indian tourist attacked by tiger while taking a selfie with the feline in Thailand
The tiger later became aggressive and suddenly attacked the tourist, who could be heard screaming. SIDHARTH SHUKLA/X via ST/ANN PHUKET: An Indian tourist was attacked by a tiger at an animal attraction park in Thailand while he was attempting to take a selfie with the big cat, sparking a debate about the ethics of wildlife tourism. A 25-second video of the attack posted by Sidharth Shukla on X on May 29 has gone viral, with over 3.7 million views. 'Apparently an Indian man attacked by a tiger in Thailand. This is one of those places where they keep tigers like pets and people can take selfies, feed them etc etc,' Sidharth said. It is not known when the incident at Phuket's Tiger Kingdom took place. In the video, the unidentified male tourist is first seen walking with the chained tiger, with a trainer following closely. He stops and kneels next to the animal, while the trainer is seen using a stick to instruct the tiger to sit. The tiger becomes aggressive and suddenly attacks the tourist, who can be heard screaming. The screaming goes on for ten seconds before the footage ends abruptly. Amid concern for the man's wellbeing, Sidharth said the tourist survived with 'minor injuries'. A few commentators noted that the lower back is one of the sensitive parts of a feline's body. 'Cats generally do not like being petted on the lower (back) body especially near (the) butt. This man was petting the tiger continuously near above mentioned body area which must have frustrated the tiger. Final straw was when the man cupped it for a photo,' said kdmangale on X. Some also expressed concerns over what they saw as the exploitation of wild animals for tourism. An X user with the handle Buka Coin said places that keep wild animals for tourists to feed or take pictures with often put both the creatures and humans at risk. Buka Coin expressed hopes that this incident will spark 'better awareness and safer, more humane wildlife tourism'. Sanjay Madrasi Pandey claimed the wild animals at such attractions are often heavily drugged to appear docile, but it would not inhibit their true nature. 'As the sedation fades, a tiger can turn violent, posing a grave threat. Responsible travel demands caution and respect for the untamed power of wildlife.' - The Straits Times/ANN

#SHOWBIZ: Tony Eusoff: 'I'm barred from entering Singapore'
KUALA LUMPUR: Actor Tony Eusoff has said that he remains barred from entering Singapore following his past drug conviction. In a news report today, the 48-year-old actor, whose real name is Anthony Joseph Hermas Rajiman, revealed that he has attempted to apply for permission to enter the island republic several times since his release in 2016, but without success. "So far, I have applied (for the permit via online application) three or four times. But there has been no response yet," he said. Tony, who was sentenced to eight months' imprisonment in Singapore in April 2016 for possession of Class A controlled drugs under the Misuse of Drugs Act, accepts the consequences of his actions. "I don't blame anyone. What has happened is the repercussion of my own shortcomings. I admit that I'm the one who didn't respect the laws of the country. Now I have to bear the consequences." Despite his past, Tony expressed gratitude for an early release. "But I'm grateful that I was released three months early. I believe everything happens for a reason. It was the lesson of my life," he added. Despite being barred from entering the country, Tony is thankful that his drama series was permitted to air there. "I was offered to act in a drama series titled 'Chiron', which was aired on Mediacorp's Suria channel. "What impressed me was that the production was willing to come to Malaysia to film my scenes, as I could not go there due to the ban. "And I even won an award for my acting in the drama series. Life is strange sometimes," he said.
