PSG and Inter Milan face-off in the UEFA Champions League final with Vitinha and Lautaro Martinez being te key players.
After months of thrilling comebacks, tactical battles, and emotional peaks, the pinnacle of European club football is set to unfold at the Munich Football Arena.
The highly anticipated UEFA Champions League final will see PSG vying for their maiden Champions League title, a triumph that would cap a remarkable season under Luis Enrique. Meanwhile, Inter Milan, the Nerazzurri, will be aiming for their fourth Champions League trophy after an impressive campaign, punctuated by a dramatic semi-final victory against Barcelona.
This match represents the first Champions League meeting between these two clubs and only the second final between teams from France and Italy. The previous such occasion was the 1992/93 final, where Marseille defeated AC Milan 1-0 in Munich, albeit at the Olympiastadion.
PSG last appeared in a Champions League final in 2020, losing to Bayern Munich, while Inter's last final appearance was in 2023, where they were defeated by Manchester City.
Paris endured a turbulent journey through the initial group stage. After a shaky start, they rallied to win their final three group games, securing qualification. A resounding 10-0 knockout phase play-off victory over domestic rivals Brest revitalised their campaign. From there, Luis Enrique's side overcame a home defeat to eliminate group stage winners Liverpool on penalties, subsequently defeating Aston Villa 5-4 on aggregate and Arsenal 3-1 on aggregate, the latter a measure of revenge for a group stage loss. Paris now becomes the third French team to reach the final of the European Cup/Champions League more than once, following Reims (1955/56, 1958/59) and Marseille (1990/91, 1992/93).
In contrast, Inter were one of the most consistent sides in the group stage, finishing fourth with just one defeat: a 1-0 loss at Bayer Leverkusen, which was also the only goal they conceded. In the knockout stages, Simone Inzaghi's men comfortably dispatched Feyenoord, edged Bayern 4-3 on aggregate in a closely fought contest, and overcame Barcelona in a thrilling semi-final, winning 7-6 on aggregate. This will be Inter's seventh European Cup/Champions League final. They have won 10 matches in this edition – their highest tally in a single UEFA competition season. The Nerazzurri have lost only one of their 14 Champions League matches this season and are unbeaten in their last eight.
The stage is set. Will it be a fourth title for the dominant Inter or a historic first for the Parisian giants?
PSG Key player: Vitinha
Vitinha is pivotal to Paris's success. An elegant, creative midfielder with a knack for scoring crucial goals, as demonstrated by his strikes in each leg of the 6-4 aggregate win against Barcelona in last season's quarter-finals. He was included in the 2023/24 Champions League Team of the Season and will undoubtedly play a crucial role for Paris in the final.
Inter Milan Key player: Lautaro Martinez
The Argentine forward finished as Serie A top scorer in 2023/24 for the first time, with 24 goals in 33 appearances, marking his third consecutive season with more than 20 league goals. Known for his relentless work rate, intelligent positioning, and clinical finishing, Martínez continues to lead from the front as captain of the Nerazzurri.

Inter Milan vs PSG: 5 player battles to watch out for in the UCL final

Paris Saint-Germain head into the Champions League final knowing this may be their best-ever chance to secure the elusive European crown. Despite a shaky beginning to life after Kylian Mbappé, Luis Enrique's men hit their stride early in the year and haven't looked back since. The Ligue 1 champions have made a habit of dispatching English opposition—first overcoming Manchester City to progress from the group stage, then eliminating Liverpool, Aston Villa, and Arsenal in successive knockout rounds to reach the final. Inter Milan, on the other hand, are appearing in their second Champions League final in three seasons. After narrowly missing out on the title in 2023 with a narrow loss to Manchester City, Simone Inzaghi's side are determined not to let this opportunity slip away again. Their journey to the final has been equally demanding, having defeated Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich and La Liga winners Barcelona. Though they fell short in their domestic title race, Inter have proven to be one of Europe's most consistent and formidable teams under Inzaghi's leadership. INT vs PSG players battles to look out for in UCL final Donnarumma has been a standout performer for PSG in the knockout stages of this season's Champions League. His heroics include a crucial penalty shootout save at Anfield and multiple key saves against Arsenal in the semifinals. Throughout the competition, he has maintained a save percentage of 87.88%, with 20 saves and three clean sheets over eight matches . Sommer has been exceptional since joining Inter Milan in 2023, quickly establishing himself as one of the top goalkeepers in Europe. In the Champions League, he boasts a remarkable 90% save percentage, with 18 saves and three clean sheets in five matches . His standout moment came in the semifinal against Barcelona, where he made seven crucial saves, earning him the Player of the Match award. Nuno Mendes vs. Denzel Dumfries The battle between PSG's left-back Nuno Mendes and Inter's right-wing-back Denzel Dumfries will be crucial. Mendes has been instrumental in neutralizing top wingers, while Dumfries has been a significant offensive threat, contributing with goals and assists. Achraf Hakimi vs. Federico Dimarco On the opposite flank, PSG's Achraf Hakimi faces Inter's Federico Dimarco. Hakimi's attacking prowess and pace will test Dimarco's defensive capabilities, making this a key area to watch. João Neves vs. Nicolò Barella In midfield, PSG's João Neves, a €70 million signing, will look to disrupt Inter's playmaker Nicolò Barella. Neves' combative style and ball-winning ability will be essential in controlling the game's tempo . Lautaro Martínez vs. Marquinhos Up front, Inter's Lautaro Martínez, with eight goals in seven Champions League appearances this season, will challenge PSG's captain Marquinhos. Marquinhos' experience and leadership will be vital in containing Martínez's threat

Kevin De Bruyne to Serie A! Napoli to sign midfielder on a free transfer

According to reports from Italy, Belgian star Kevin De Bruyne has reached a full agreement to join Napoli, with a two-year contract already in place. The reigning Serie A champions are expected to finalize the deal early next week, with an official announcement likely soon after. The 33-year-old midfield veteran will join the Italian side as a free agent following the conclusion of his 10-year spell at Manchester City. De Bruyne, a central figure in City's dominance over the past decade, played a pivotal role in securing six Premier League titles and numerous other honors during his time at the Etihad Stadium. Despite his willingness to remain in Manchester, sources suggest City opted against offering a contract extension, prompting De Bruyne to explore new opportunities. His contract with Napoli includes an option for a third year, in addition to a substantial signing bonus, underlining the club's commitment to building a squad capable of domestic and European success. This move marks Napoli's second major signing of the summer transfer window. Earlier, they secured Canadian forward Jonathan David from Olympique Lyonnais, signaling their intent to strengthen the team ahead of a renewed push for silverware. De Bruyne's arrival brings not only world-class experience and creativity but also leadership to a Napoli side eager to build on their recent success and make a mark in Europe once again.

Will Allianz Arena see another new champion in the UCL final this time?

The stage is set for one of the most anticipated fixtures in European football as the UEFA Champions League final kicks off tonight at the iconic Allianz Arena in Munich. Italian giants Inter Milan will go head-to-head with French champions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in a clash that promises drama, intensity, and potentially history in the making. Under the guidance of Simone Inzaghi, Inter Milan have looked like a well-oiled machine throughout the competition. Their path to the final has been far from easy, they've overcome European powerhouses like Bayern Munich and Barcelona in the knockout stages, proving their mettle and resilience at every turn. PSG, meanwhile, have played some of their most attractive and exciting football in years. Having already secured the Ligue 1 title this season, they now stand just one game away from finally conquering Europe. Their road to Munich has seen them dispatch strong sides such as Liverpool and Arsenal, and their momentum looks promising. With a blend of experience, youthful energy, and tactical discipline under Luis Enrique, PSG appear ready to make history. Allianz Arena ready to crown a new champion again? Interestingly, the Allianz Arena itself has seen a memorable final involving a team chasing its first Champions League crown. In 2012, Chelsea famously defeated Bayern Munich on penalties to win their maiden title—on Bayern's own turf, no less. That historic night might offer PSG fans a flicker of hope. Like Chelsea back then, PSG are also hunting their first European crown and may see the venue as a lucky omen. While Inter Milan have already tasted European glory, most recently in 2010 when they defeated Bayern Munich at the Santiago Bernabéu, PSG are still waiting to lift the trophy. They came close in 2020, only to fall to Bayern in the final. Now, with a squad full of quality and a manager who knows how to win on big occasions, PSG have the perfect chance to end years of heartbreak and finally add their name to the list of Champions League winners. Will history repeat itself in Munich with a new champion crowned at the Allianz Arena?
