Toyota Fortuner, one of India's highest-selling SUVs, saw a price increase across all variants. The price hike applies to the petrol and diesel versions of the Toyota Fortuner, with the biggest hike seen on the petrol automatic 4x2 variant. The price of this model has surged by ₹ 68,000, while most other diesel trims, including the performance-oriented GR-S and both Legender versions, have seen a uniform hike of ₹ 40,000.
Following these adjustments, the Fortuner now commands an ex-showroom price ranging from ₹ 36.05 lakh to ₹ 52.34 lakh, ex-showroom, depending on the configuration.

The recently launched mild-hybrid diesel variant, which features a 48V battery system paired with the 2.8-litre engine and a 4x4 automatic transmission, is priced at ₹ 44.72 lakh. This price revision comes shortly after Toyota introduced a new mild-hybrid diesel variant of the Fortuner. Powered by the proven 2.8-litre diesel engine paired with a 48V battery system, the hybrid version targets improved fuel economy and refined urban drivability. Although it retains the exterior styling of its conventional diesel counterpart, the addition of the hybrid tech underlines Toyota's gradual shift toward greener powertrains, even in the body-on-frame SUV segment.

US Stock markets today: Wall Street futures inched up before opening bell, US-China trade talks enter 2nd day

Investors are watching China-US trade talks in London that could have a huge impact on the global economy as early trading on Wall Street was mostly flat. Futures for the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq each inched up 0.1% before the bell Tuesday, while futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average were essentially flat. A second day of talks was planned after US and Chinese officials met in London on Monday for negotiations over various issues, AP reported. The hope is that they can eventually reach a deal to reduce painfully high tariffs. Most of the tariff hikes imposed since US President Donald Trump escalated his trade war are paused to allow trade in everything from tiny tech gadgets to enormous machinery to continue. The S&P 500 has rallied after dropping roughly 20% from its record two months ago when Trump shocked financial markets with wide-ranging tariff threats during what he called 'Liberation Day.' Still, confusion over the potential ramifications of Trump's sweeping tariff threats have caused a host of companies to lower or altogether pull their financial guidance. That trend continued Tuesday with Designer Brands, the owner of DSW retail shoe outlets. CEO Doug Howe blamed the company's slow start to the year on an 'unpredictable macro environment and deteriorating consumer sentiment.' Designer Brands shares fell nearly 7.5% before the bell Tuesday after the company — which also owns the Keds and Hush Puppies brands — posted a much wider loss than analysts were expecting. Tesla rose early Tuesday, a day after it recovered a decent chunk of its sharp, recent drop. The electric vehicle company tumbled last week as Elon Musk's relationship with Trump imploded, but shares were up 2.3% in premarket after climbing 4.6% Monday. McDonalds dipped 1.4% after its stock was downgraded by Morgan Stanley, which cited 'structural pressures' on the fast food sector, most notably cash-strapped lower income consumers. In Europe at midday, Germany's DAX lost 0.3%, Britain's FTSE 100 gained 0.5% and the CAC 40 in Paris was unchanged. In Asian trading, Tokyo's Nikkei 225 gained 0.3% to 38,211.51, yielding most of its earlier gains, while the Kospi in South Korea rose 0.6% to 2,871.85. Hong Kong's Hang Seng reversed an early advance, slipping 0.1% to 24,162.87. The Shanghai Composite index dropped 0.4% to 3,384.82. There was no fresh news on the US-China trade talks, but investors appeared to grow more nervous as the day wore on. 'Chinese stocks did what they often do when geopolitics starts tightening the noose — they flinched. What began as a calm morning session flipped into a jittery sell-off as traders returned from lunch with a different mood," Stephen Innes of SPI Asset Management said in a commentary. In Taiwan, the Taiex surged 2.1%. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 advanced 0.8% to 8,587.20. India's Sensex was nearly unchanged. US benchmark crude oil picked up 37 cents to $65.66 per barrel. Brent crude, the international standard, was up 36 cents at $67.40. The dollar fell to 144.53 Japanese yen from 144.61 yen. The euro ticked up to $1.1430 from $1.1421. In the bond market, the yield on the 10-year Treasury eased to 4.45% from 4.48% late Monday. Stay informed with the latest business news, updates on bank holidays and public holidays . Indices end almost flat, Nifty holds 25,100; banks drag

The domestic equity benchmarks closed virtually unchanged today as investors closely monitored ongoing US-China trade discussions. The Nifty 50 managed to conclude the session above the 25,100 level. After an initial gap-up opening, the Nifty swiftly surrendered its early gains, subsequently trading within a narrow range for the remainder of the day. Sectoral performance was bifurcated, with IT and pharma stocks emerging as gainers. In contrast, realty and banks shares were under pressure. The S&P BSE Sensex shed 53.49 points or 0.06% to 82,391.72. The Nifty 50 index rose 1.05 points or 0.00% to 25,104.25. ICICI Bank (down 0.70%), Reliance Industries (down 0.69%) and HDFC Bank (down 0.64%) were major drags. The broader market outperformed the frontline indices. The S&P BSE Mid-Cap index rose 0.04% and the S&P BSE Small-Cap index added 0.33%. The market breadth was positive. On the BSE, 2,246 shares rose and 1,793 shares fell. A total of 133 shares were unchanged. The NSE's India VIX, a gauge of the market's expectation of volatility over the near term, tanked 4.61% to 14.02. Numbers to Track: The yield on India's 10-year benchmark federal paper rose 0.30% to 6.298 from the previous close of 6.280. In the foreign exchange market, the rupee edged higher against the dollar. The partially convertible rupee was hovering at 85.6300 compared with its close of 85.6675 during the previous trading session. MCX Gold futures for 5 August 2025 settlement shed 0.11% to Rs 97,064. The US Dollar Index (DXY), which tracks the greenback's value against a basket of currencies, was up 0.08% to 99.09. The United States 10-year bond yield fell 0.58% to 4.457. Global Markets: Most European indices declined on Tuesday, despite the U.K. unemployment and wage data release. The UK unemployment rate rose to 4.6% in the three months from February to April, marking its highest level since July 2021, according to official data released Tuesday by the Office for National Statistics (ONS). The figure represents a 0.2% increase compared to the previous three-month period. Despite the rise in unemployment, the employment rate inched up by 0.1 percentage points to 75.1%, with the total number of employed individuals reaching 34 million. Meanwhile, the economic inactivity rate, which measures the proportion of the working-age population that is neither employed nor actively seeking work, declined by 0.2 percentage points to 21.3%. Asian stocks ended mixed as investors awaited further developments from the ongoing U.S.-China trade talks. Trade discussions between the two countries resumed in London on Monday. The U.S. delegation included Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, and Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, while the Chinese delegation was led by Vice Premier He Lifeng. The talks follow a May agreement to temporarily reduce mutual tariffs. Current discussions are focused on China's export controls on rare earth minerals and U.S. restrictions on semiconductor exports to China, both of which have significant implications for global supply chains. In the U.S., equity market movements were subdued on Monday ahead of the upcoming consumer price index (CPI) inflation data release scheduled for Wednesday. The S&P 500 rose 0.09%, marking its second consecutive gain. The Nasdaq Composite added 0.31%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average edged down by 1.11 points. India Inc to double capex to $850 billion over the next five years

Corporate India is embarking on an ambitious investment drive, with capital expenditure expected to double to as much as $850 billion over the next five years, according to a report by S&P Global Ratings. Indian power, electricity transmission lines, airlines, and green hydrogen sectors will spearhead the spending spree, the report said. Driven by strong balance sheets, robust operating cash flows, and favourable government policy, Indian companies are aiming to scale up operations in what could be a defining expansion phase. The top 100 listed companies, with a combined revenue of $1 trillion and $150 billion in EBITDA in fiscal 2025, are expected to fund most of the investment internally, keeping leverage in check, the report said. Unlisted renewable energy and airline companies with large capex plans were also considered by the firm in preparing the report. "Companies are investing to capture growth, supported by macro tailwinds and deeper domestic funding markets," S&P analysts wrote. "Execution will be key to avoiding balance sheet slippage." The power and transmission sector will account for roughly $300 billion in new investment—more than a third of the total projected capex. Renewable energy projects and grid infrastructure are expected to dominate the agenda as India pursues its 500 GW renewable capacity target by 2030. NTPC Ltd., Tata Power, and Power Grid Corp. are set to lead the charge. The Adani group has already announced $20 billion in annual capex over the next five years, while the Tata group is planning to invest $120 billion mainly in airlines, semiconductors, and electronics sectors. Airlines are another major investment engine, the report said. Indian carriers led by Indigo and Air India are set to spend $75 billion to $100 billion on new aircraft, tripling their fleet size by 2035. Much of this will be lease-financed, helping limit the pressure on balance sheets. Indigo is seen absorbing the expansion with relative ease, while Air India and SpiceJet may face more strain. Traditional sectors like steel, cement, oil and gas, and autos are projected to contribute $250 billion in cumulative capex. Steel and cement alone are ramping up capacity by 25 million tonnes and 35 per cent, respectively, though their investment will be more gradual and reliant on internal accruals. Emerging sectors such as green hydrogen, semiconductors, and battery plants are poised to attract $50 billion to $100 billion in investment, led by giants like Adani Group and Tata Electronics. However, funding needs for these high-capex sectors will likely require more external debt. Airports, a smaller but rapidly growing component, may see investments rise to $35 billion, particularly if greenfield projects and privatisation efforts proceed as planned. Yet, long lead times and regulatory delays raise execution risks. Despite the scale of the capex, Indian corporates are expected to rely less on debt than in previous cycles. S&P estimates that banks and specialised financial institutions like Power Finance Corp. and REC Ltd. are positioned to provide significant support—up to $200 billion in the power sector alone. The onshore bond market is also maturing, offering longer tenors and competitive pricing. "Offshore demand is returning, especially for green bonds," the report noted, pointing to deepening capital pools chasing Indian credit. By the end of this investment cycle, several Indian companies could emerge as global leaders. NTPC may reach 130 GW of power capacity, Indigo could operate a fleet of 1,000 aircraft, and cement players could rival global majors like Swiss-based Holcim. Ultratech and the Adani group are investing heavily in adding greenfield capacity. Still, S&P cautioned that capex-heavy sectors—particularly renewables, steel, and greenfield airports—face elevated credit risks due to execution uncertainty and commodity price volatility. "India's corporate capex boom is a calculated bet on long-term competitiveness and scale," S&P concluded. "If executed well, it could mark a structural step-up in the country's industrial capacity."
