Portugal defeated Spain 5-3 on penalties to win the Nations League after a 2-2 draw in Munich.
Martin Zubimendi opened the scoring after capitalising on Portugal's poor defending, before Nuno Mendes quickly equalised for Portugal.
Mikel Oyarzabal scored to give Spain a first-half lead before Cristiano Ronaldo scored a second-half equaliser; he now has a record-breaking 138 goals for Portugal.
After a goalless extra time, Diogo Costa saved Alvaro Morata 's penalty, and Ruben Neves scored the decisive penalty for Portugal.
Portugal secured their second Nations League title, having previously won in 2019.

Claudio Ranieri rejects Italy manager job after Luciano Spalletti announces own sacking

Claudio Ranieri revealed he has turned down the vacant Italy manager's job after Luciano Spalletti was dismissed from his post. The 73-year-old, who famously guided Leicester City to a fairytale Premier League title in 2016, will stay on with AS Roma as their senior advisor. Former Napoli coach Spalletti, 66, announced his own dismissal on Sunday following Italy's 3-0 drubbing by Norway in their opening World Cup qualifier on Friday. Ranieri, who recently retired for a second time after his spell at Roma last season, said he was honoured to have been offered the job by Italian Football Federation president Gabriele Gravina. "I thank President Gravina for the opportunity, a great honour, but I have reflected and decided to remain available to Roma in my new position totally," he told Italian news agency ANSA. "The Friedkins (Roma owners) gave me their full support and backing for whatever decision I had made regarding the national team but the decision is mine alone." Ranieri helped Roma finish fifth in Serie A last season to qualify for the Europa League. The Italian has been replaced by former Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini at the Stadio Olimpico ahead of next season.

England v Senegal: men's international football friendly

Show key events only Please turn on JavaScript to use this feature Hello and welcome to the City Ground the Guardian liveblog bunker for live coverage of England v Senegal at the City Ground. Thomas Tuchel isn't in the business of selling tickets or building hype, but his unsparing appraisal of England's performance against Andorra – Kevin the Teenager tribute included – has increased the interest in what could otherwise have been just another friendly. This is only the second meeting between the sides, a slight surprise given their status in world football. The first was in the last 16 of Qatar 2022, when England surged to a 3-0 victory after an even first 35 minutes. The next World Cup is the endgame for Tuchel and England, but tonight's match has a standalone appeal that probably wasn't there 72 hours ago. Kick off 7.45pm. Share
