Knife, THC vape pens seized from student at local high school: Report
WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – A Warren G. Harding student is facing disciplinary action after being found with a knife and THC vape pens, according to a police report.
The Warren police report states that police were notified of an incident at the high school Tuesday morning.
The principal turned over the folded-blade knife and vape pens that were found in the student's backpack, according to the report.
The student was suspended, and her parents were notified, the report states.
Superintendent/CEO Steve Chiaro released a statement Thursday, saying there was no threat made in relation to the incident.
'All students enter WCS through the Opengate system intended to detect such items. The Opengate system alerted school staff and administration of the items being detected, which prompted the next steps in safety and security procedures,' the statement read.
Chiaro added that the student is facing disciplinary action. The police report indicates that the student could face charges as well.

Long Grove bridge hit by moving truck, allegedly for the 67th time
LONG GROVE, Ill. (WGN) — Water is wet. The sky is blue. Someone hit the Long Grove Covered Bridge again. A WGN TV News viewer sent a small treasure trove of photos detailing the latest vehicle that was too tall to pass over Buffalo Creek. The viewer told WGN TV News this is allegedly the 67th time the bridge has been struck by a vehicle. Built 1906, it was initially named after Buffalo Creek, and didn't feature a wooden roof over the top of it. The wooden cover was added in 1972. The bridge, which measures 8-feet-6-inches tall, was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in June 2018, and was promptly plowed through two weeks later. Cover Story: The infamous Long Grove Covered Bridge It was restored, but 23 hours after the official reopening in August 2020, another driver in a chartered school bus not only hit it, but got stuck. The good news is, it wasn't completely obliterated like it was in 2018. With how frequent the bridge has been struck over the years, one would think there's a lack of signage around the well-battered crossing, but that's not the case. Signs are posted on, before and after crossing the bridge on Robert Parker Coffin Road, and they have done little to stop vehicles from leaving various dings and dents over the years, fines for which start at $700. Rickey Smiley speaks on Omega Psi Phi, Caleb Wilson
The post Rickey Smiley speaks on Omega Psi Phi, Caleb Wilson appeared first on ClutchPoints. While appearing on Jemele Hill's Spolitics podcast, comedian Rickey Smiley expressed his disappointment in his fraternity, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., following the death of Southern University student Caleb Wilson, who died during an unsanctioned ritual while trying to join the fraternity. Smiley had a lot to say about how things have changed within the fraternity. He went on to say that the founders would not support the way things are today and likely wouldn't have selected many individuals who are currently members of Omega Psi Phi. Smiley, who is also a member of other organizations, including Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity and the NAACP, stated that the last five physical altercations that he has been in have been with other members of Omega Psi Phi. 'In 25 years in the frat, I have never put my hands on anybody,' he said, stressing that the current behavior shown by fraternity members is 'wrong.' Smiley also revealed that he spoke with Wilson's dad following his death to offer his condolences, stating that he is also a dad who has lost a son. Wilson's dad, who is also a member of Omega Psi Phi, says that Smiley was the first person from their fraternity to offer their condolences. Wilson died back in February during an off-campus, unsanctioned fraternity ritual while pledging Omega Psi Phi. He collapsed after being punched in the chest repeatedly by fraternity members. Caleb McCray, Kyle Thurman, and Isaiah Smith were arrested in connection to Wilson's death. A Baton Rouge district judge recently set bond conditions for McCray. The judge set McCray's bail at $25,000 for criminal hazing and $75,000 for manslaughter during the March bond hearing. If McCray is found guilty of manslaughter, the most serious accusation, he may face a maximum sentence of 40 years. He is also required to use a phone tracker instead of the traditional ankle monitor. Additionally, McCray is ordered to have no contact with any co-defendants involved in the case. In addition, he must use a phone tracker rather than the conventional ankle monitor. McCray is also prohibited from contacting any of the other defendants in the case. Smiley was initiated into the Psi Rho grad chapter in 2000. Related: Howard University makes huge NIL move before football season Related: 2025 Cricket Celebration Bowl date & time revealed
