Jane Bunn weather: Tuesday's balmy morning in Melbourne was just shy of all time record
Did you find it rather warm as you woke up this morning, perhaps your morning run felt more like it was still summer?
Much of Melbourne just experienced their hottest May night on record.
In Scoresby the temperature never fell below 19C. At this time of year it's usually around 8C - this morning was more than 10 degrees above average!
Even Coldstream didn't live up to its name with 17.7C earlier today. The average for May is a much chillier 5C.

The city nearly set a new record, but not quite.
When I woke up this morning, I thought we had done it. At 6:30am it was 18.4C. I jumped out of bed getting ready to share this extraordinary news, but realised I had to wait - as the temperature hadn't finished falling yet.
The city's overnight low wasn't recorded until 8am this morning, nearly a full hour after the sun began to rise.
We often see the coldest part of the night after sunrise. All through the night we lose the day's heat to the atmosphere, and the first rays of sun aren't strong enough to outweigh this cooling.
We finally stopped falling at 17.5C and in the 169 years of observations there has only been one May night that was warmer. The record remains at 18.0C set in 2009.
We're experiencing well above average temperatures during the day as well. Yesterday reached 24.5C in the city and today is moving past 26C.
The average for this time of year is just 17C, so this is significantly warmer than what we usually experience.
The record for May is 28.7C and we won't quite make it that high.
This is the end of this extraordinary stretch, as a cool change arrives tomorrow.
A cold front crossing the Bight will pass through, bringing an end to the 'summer-like' temperatures for now.
There is a brief burst of showers on Wednesday, as temperatures fall.
By Thursday morning it should be back down in single digits and it's even cold enough to snow in Tasmania down to 500 metres!

AFL star's dad is allegedly assaulted in violent brawl at footy match
The father of Melbourne Demons star Bayley Fritsch was allegedly 'caught up in a brawl' at a local footy match this weekend, according to reports. Scott Fritsch, 57, was understood to have been watching his son Darcy play for Coldstream in the Eastern Football Netball League on Saturday against Upper Ferntree Gully. According to The Herald Sun, Mr Fritsch was allegedly assaulted on the touchline just before the final siren. Individuals close to the outlet stated that Scott, who also played in the Eastern Football League, 'was the intended target' of the alleged assault. The details of the incident still remain hazy. Victoria Police state that a man was arrested following the incident. 'Police arrested a man following an assault at a local football match in Upper Ferntree Gully on Saturday, 31 May,' a statement read. 'Investigators were told that spectators were involved in a scuffle at a sporting ground on Willow Road at about 4.45pm. 'A 57-year-old Coldstream man was treated at the scene for minor injuries. 'A 44-year-old Seville man was interviewed and is expected to be charged on summons for intentionally causing injury and unlawful assault.' The Fritsch family declined to issue comment to The Herald Sun. Highlights footage, posted by the Eastern Football Netball League on Vimeo, showed umpires and players reacting to the brawl, with a group of umpires conversing to what appeared to a Coldstream official after the game while pointing to a section of the crowd that was not in view. The officials were subsequently escorted off the footy pitch by two umpire escorts. Some members of both playing cohorts were seen motioning their team-mates to stay away from the melee. 'Ambulance Victoria responded to calls to an incident in Upper Ferntree Gully at around 5:00pm on 31 May,' a statement read. 'No emergency transport was provided.' Daily Mail Australia has contacted both clubs and the footy league for comment. Scott amassed 300 appearances for the footy club and has since been handed Life Membership by the Eastern Football Netball League. He notably captained the footy club to Coldstream's Division Four premiership win in 2001.

AFL star's father caught up in alleged incident at local game
The father of Melbourne star forward Bayley Fritsch has been involved in an alleged fight at a local football game on Saturday. Police have confirmed the incident in which Fritsch's father, Scott, required medical attention. Scott was watching his other son, Darcy Fritsch, play in the Division 3 game for Coldstream as they took on Upper Ferntree Gully in the Eastern Football League. Police said they expected a man to be charged. 'Police arrested a man following an assault at a local football match in Upper Ferntree Gully on Saturday, 31 May,' police said in a statement. Darcy, who scored one of Coldstream's five goals, reportedly jumped the fence — from the playing field — when he saw his father was involved. The incident happened near the end of the game. Scott Fritsch is a 360-game legend for Coldstream. 7NEWS believes Scott took himself to hospital for further treatment after the incident. Paramedics have confirmed that they did not take anyone to hospital. 'Ambulance Victoria responded to calls to an incident in Upper Ferntree Gully at around 5:00pm on 31 May,' a statement read. 'No emergency transport was provided.' The EFNL also released a statement on Tuesday afternoon. 'The Eastern Football Netball League (EFNL) is aware of an off-field incident that occurred during the senior match between Upper Ferntree Gully Football Club and the Coldstream Football Club on Saturday, 31st May.' the league said. 'The League was informed at the time and has since commenced a thorough investigation into the matter. 'We are working closely with both clubs, who have provided full cooperation throughout the process. In addition, Victoria Police are conducting their own investigation, and the EFNL is assisting where appropriate. 'As both investigations are ongoing, we are unable to provide further comment at this stage. The EFNL remains committed to the safety and integrity of our competitions and will provide an update when more information is available.'
