So, who exactly is Ashok Elluswamy?
Nine years ago, Elon Musk put out a tweet that would quietly set the stage for Tesla's transformation:'Ramping up the Autopilot software team at Tesla to achieve generalized full autonomy. If interested, contact autopilot@teslamotors.com.'On June 2, 2025, Musk reshared that 2015 tweet, adding a rare note of appreciation:'This tweet 9 years ago was how I started the Autopilot, now AI, team at Tesla. Ashok, who now leads the team, was the first person I interviewed…'He wasn't done. In another post earlier in 2024, Musk emphasized just how vital Ashok Elluswamy has been to Tesla's journey:'Without him and our awesome team, we would just be another car company looking for an autonomy supplier that doesn't exist.'The Man Behind Tesla's AI: Currently Tesla's Vice President of AI, Ashok Elluswamy leads the company's Autopilot and AI software programs—efforts that are central to its push for full self-driving. He was the first engineer hired for the Autopilot team back in 2014, and since 2019, he has been in charge of Tesla's AI division, overseeing everything from neural networks to real-time decision-making systems.Based in San Francisco, Elluswamy holds a Master's degree in Robotic Systems Development from Carnegie Mellon University, and a Bachelor's in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the College of Engineering, Guindy, Chennai. Before joining Tesla, he worked at WABCO Vehicle Control Systems and interned at Volkswagen's Electronic Research Lab, where he contributed to early autonomous driving initiatives. With over a decade at Tesla, Elluswamy has become one of its longest-serving—and most quietly influential—figures. From being the first person Musk hired to now leading Tesla's cutting-edge AI efforts, he's played a pivotal role in shifting Tesla from an electric carmaker to a frontrunner in the global AI race.Elon Musk may be the public face of Tesla, but Ashok Elluswamy is clearly one of the minds helping drive it into the future.

Yuval Noah Harari on risks of intimate relationships with AI: 'There could be unknown benefits, but for now…'
Israeli historian and author Yuval Noah Harari has warned that artificial intelligence's (AI) ability to replicate intimacy can alter human relationships. The author, known for his bestselling books Sapiens and Nexus, said that, "there could be unknown benefits, but for now, the risks far outweigh them." Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Harari suggested that while fears about job automation dominate headlines, AI's impact on intimate relationships presents a more unsettling prospect. In a recent post shared on Instagram, the author added a video clip of his discussion which was co-hosted by the Deutsches Institut für Japanstudien , Tokyo College, and Kawade Shobo. During this interview, Harari explained that AI, having already mastered language and attention, is now progressing towards mimicking intimacy, which he considers a potent human connection. What author Yuval Noah Harari said about intimate relationships with AI Captioning the Instagram post, Harari wrote: 'Wouldn't you want a partner that always gives you 100% attention and is never upset? We are facing a world where a new generation grows up with intimate relationships with AI . There could be unknown benefits – but for now, the risks far outweigh them.' In the video, he can be seen saying: 'AI can replicate intimacy the same way that it masters language and the same way that it previously mastered attention. The Next Frontier is intimacy, and it is much more powerful than attention. If you want to change somebody's views on politics to sell a product, anything intimacy is the most powerful tool to do that. A good friend can change your views in a way that no number of articles in a newspaper or a book can do until today. Nothing could fake intimacy, and it was impossible in particular to mass produce intimacy.' Take a look at the Instagram post 'Now, what happens if the new generation grows up? And develops intimate relations with AIs instead of with other human beings. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Again, we don't know. It could have some benefits, but the potential danger is enormous. That people will become attached to the fake people, and in the process, we lose the ability to create intimacy with real human beings. Because really, human beings are much more problematic than AIs that want to become your intimate friend,' Harari continued. 'Its greatest advantage is that it has no feelings of its own. It's never upset. It's never angry. It's never tired. It can focus on you 100%. Understand exactly how you feel and create a fake sense of intimacy,' the author, who is known for exploring human evolution, technology, consciousness, and AI's impact on our future further noted.

Errol also paid obeisance at the Hanumangarhi temple nearby. It's one of the best things I've ever done. "I'm so glad I came to see it and can't wait till the temple gets completed, the big temple, it's going to be something like a wonder of the world," Errol told PTI Videos. Separately, talking to reporters after visiting both temples, he said, "My experience here in India has been wonderful. I'm here (in India) to begin working with Servotech and am looking forward to spending a lot of time in the country. The temples are marvellous and so are the people." Accompanied by his daughter Alexandra Musk, Errol arrived at Ayodhya airport around 2.30 pm and left after 4 pm. He was wearing kurta-pyjama during his visit to the Ram temple. Security was on high alert in the temple town during the visit. "There is already a three-layered high-level security cover in place in Ayodhya, which includes round-the-clock deployment of high-tech anti-drone systems capable of detecting and neutralising unauthorised aerial activity," a police officer said. He added that security arrangements in and around the temple area include CCTV surveillance, regular checking of visitors and deployment of specially trained personnel. "However, no additional security cover will be extended officially for this visit as the existing measures are adequate," he said. Errol, who is the Global Advisor to Servotech Renewable Power System Ltd, began his India trip on June 1 and will be in the country till June 6, a spokesperson for the Haryana-based company said in a statement. "His visit is squarely focused on accelerating India's burgeoning green technology and electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure development," the company said.
