Race Across the World star sobs while recounting heartbreaking life 'struggles'

Yin was paired up with her former partner Gaz for the 14,000km race, which took BBC contestants from the Great Wall of China to Kanniyakumari, the southernmost tip of India. However, Yin and Gaz – one of five pairs – didn't make it too far, when they boarded a train that took them 250km in the wrong direction. They were the first to be eliminated from the show. In tonight's reunion episode, Yin tearfully reflected on the show. 'Since leaving Race, I realised I was struggling already with what China means to me personally,' she explained. 'My heritage is Chinese and I do identify as a Chinese person. Where I struggle is, with my upbringing, it was in a very traditional household. I didn't leave home on good terms with my parents. Explaining that her not being able to speak Mandarin was a personal struggle for her, Yin revealed the journey made her reconnect with her family. 'When I came back from Race, I reconnected with my siblings and I recognised that had to be addressed. I realised the real gift Race gave me was to address that and move on with my life,' she said. Opening up about why she applied for the show, Yin explained: 'My partner who I'd been with for three years had passed away very suddenly in September 2023. 'One of the reasons for coming on Race was to give me that energy to see what's out there.' Now Yin feels a 'relief and lightness' she explained, revealing she and Gaz had a 'brilliant' time travelling together after the show. Meanwhile, Gaz also brought a tear to many eyes when he reflected on their time together during the show, with many viewers saying the pair should get back together again. 'It probably has brought us more together. What we want in life for the pair of us is to just be happy,' he said. 'Whether I or Yin find love again, we will always be in each others' lives because we are just great friends. It probably looks bizarre to the outside world, but to us it's normal.' Yin looked touched as Gaz said: 'All I've ever wanted was the best for Yin and I'm just very proud of how Yin has become.' Sending the love right back at her former partner, Yin said through tears: 'Gaz is the most amazing, kind-hearted amazing person. I always want him to back me, because I don't think I could have done it without you.' Got a story? The Repair Shop guest left 'speechless' by restoration of sentimental item only he can use

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info The Repair Shop On The Road returned to our screens on Wednesday (18th June) with a fresh episode, taking the experts out of the barn and onto a new journey. The show features the team travelling across the nation, meeting individuals who possess historical treasures and cherished items, and are seeking assistance in maintaining them in prime condition. In this week's episode, Lucia Scalisi and Dominic Chinea made their way to Glasgow, later joined by fellow expert Will Kirk. Lucia met Kaming, a member of Glasgow's Hakka Chinese community, who needed help restoring a Chinese unicorn head that required some tender loving care. Constructed from bamboo and paper, the delicate mask holds a significant place in the community's celebrations, reports the Express. (Image: BBC) However, years of dancing had left the mask slightly worn, particularly its horn which needed special attention. Kaming disclosed that he is the last person he knows capable of performing the traditional dance associated with the unicorn mask, and thus wanted it restored so he could hopefully pass on the dance to future generations before it disappears forever. It's fair to say Lucia had a challenging task ahead of her, which quickly proved to be anything but simple. She found herself dealing with unfamiliar materials while striving to restore the mask to a standard that would allow it to be used for many more years. The talented art restorer wowed with her skills, leaving Kaming amazed at the transformed mask. "Are you looking forward to seeing it?" Lucia inquired before adding that both were "very excited" about the completed piece. With the unveiling of the restored mask, Kaming was left speechless, uttering: "Just speechless! Speechless. It's amazing." (Image: BBC) He noted the stark change in the mask, saying: "It's a very big difference, especially the actual front here. Looking shiny." Lucia commented on the mask, mentioning: "Everything about it is exquisitely beautiful. The symbolism on it is incredible. "And, I think that it will do a very good job for your community centre for years to come. And now I think it's your turn to keep your side of the deal!" After Lucia was treated to a performance at the community centre, she expressed her admiration by being "blown away" by the unicorn dance. (Image: BBC) "I actually don't know what to say, I am truly blown away to have that lovely unicorn do the unicorn dance. It was energetic, it was very powerful. It was wonderful!" she enthused. Kaming expressed the importance of the mask's restoration, stating: "It means a lot to the Chinese community to have it fixed because it represents a whole lot to them." Chaotic moment busker PUNCHES yob who slapped him across the face as chaotic brawl breaks out

A BUSKER has shared footage of him appearing to bravely defend himself against a group of yobs trying to disrupt his act. James Allan, who has more than 1.3m followers on TikTok, confronted the gang of thugs as they attempted to tamper with his equipment in Leeds city centre. 4 4 4 4 One hooded youth in a light blue body warmer even gives the impression that he is carrying a knife. In the video's on-screen captions, James wrote: "A gang of lads kept touching my guitar. "So I thought I'd put them on camera to stop them doing it again." As one of the boys approaches again, James tells him: "You can touch if you want. "I'll go on the TikTok Live and show everyone what you're doing." He then turns the camera to the group, who beat a hasty retreat once they realise they are being filmed. As they slink off, James asks the group: "Why are you hioding your faces? Do you want to touch my stuff again or what?" James' friend Brad then tips him off that one of the boys, wearing a jeans and a sleeveless pukka jacket that partially covers his face, is coming back. The intrepid busker goes to intercept the intruder - but it was only when reviewing the footage afterwards that he realised that the boy appeared to be reaching for what could be a knife. As James writes in the caption: "It's only upon watching this back do I realise he's reaching for his pocket. "Luckily I was able to grab his arms." Glasgow man appears to take money from buskers before teeth fall out in bizarre viral video The boy then slaps James with what appears to be an open palm, before James wades in and clobbers the attacker, plus several of his friends who also try to defend their mate. Several bystanders then step in to try and cool tensions. As James wrote: "People step in to break it up, which is good for me because there was about five of them. "People think they can just absue buskers and we won't defend ourselves." The boy in the puffa jacket then aims a kick at James, who catches his foot and pulls him to the ground. He then goes back to the mic and tells shoppers: 'I'm just trying to make a living, man. Do you know what I mean?' West Yorkshire Police have been contacted for comment. James posted the video on his social media accounts with the question: 'Was I right to defend myself?" One Facebook user said: 'Sometimes gotta stand up to bullies.' Another added said: 'Nice jabs mate…be careful though those little scabs will be back with knives.'
