Day before NEET, aspirant dies by suicide
Kota: A minor NEET-UG aspirant, identified as
Bhumeja Rajput
from Sheopur Madhya Pradesh, died by suicide at her room in Kota's Parshavnath area Saturday night, on the eve of the NEET examination she was scheduled to appear for on Sunday afternoon. The minor girl's death marks the 14th case of student suicide this year.
Circle inspector Arvind Bhardwaj at Kunhadi police station said the girl was from Sheopur in Madhya Pradesh and had been living with her parents in Kota for several years while preparing for NEET-UG at a coaching institute.
The girl's parents were out in the market when the incident occurred, and discovered the girl's death around 9 pm.
Authorities did not find a suicide note on her person or inside her room. tnn

Jaipur: City police Sunday said they are investigating the possibility of a larger exam cheating racket following the arrest of a final-year MBBS student from AIIMS Jodhpur, a medical intern, and an ayurvedic practitioner in connection with the NEET-UG 2020 impersonation case. The accused include Sachin Gaura (22), a student of AIIMS Jodhpur, Ajit Gaura (30), a medical intern at a govt college in Bharatpur, and Subhash Saini (33), an ayurvedic practitioner who has a prior record of cheating and impersonation-related offences. They were arrested on June 6. Police said Sachin allegedly paid Rs 60 lakh to Saini to facilitate the scheme, which helped him bypass the competitive entrance process and secure admission at AIIMS. The admit card for the NEET UG 2020 exam carried Ajit's photograph instead of Sachin's, allowing another individual, likely Ajit, to appear for the exam on his behalf. Sachin went on to secure 667 marks, helping him to take admission with an All-India Rank of 1,443. DCP (West) Amit Kumar said the role of Saini is central to the case and that his network of accomplices is currently being tracked. NEET aspirant falls from hostel stairs, dies
Kota: A 17-year-old boy from Madhya Pradesh who was preparing for NEET-UG in Kota died after falling down stairs from the second floor of his hostel building in Vigyan Nagar police station area Sunday morning, police said. The teenager, a resident of Vidisha in MP, had arrived in Kota for NEET-UG preparations about 15-20 days ago. He had enrolled in a coaching institute and was residing in a hostel room. According to Vigyan Nagar police, the boy slipped and fell down the stairs after coming out of the bathroom. He fell all the way down to the ground floor and suffered critical head injuries. He was immediately taken to a nearby private hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment about an hour later, police said. The body has been kept in the mortuary of MBS hospital. The boy's family members were informed and the postmortem will be conducted after their arrival, police said.

1 2 Jaipur: Police here are investigating the role of Subhash Saini, an Ayurveda practitioner who was posted as a community health officer in Kuchaman city of Nagaur district, for his suspected involvement in a NEET exam impersonation racket. According to police, Saini is believed to be a key link in a network that arranged dummy candidates for the national-level medical entrance exam. Saini, previously arrested in a 2013 case involving NEET fraud worth Rs 65 lakh, is no stranger to such allegations. In that instance, he was accused of charging large sums of money to guarantee NEET clearance, although the exam was eventually cancelled. Six people were arrested at the time following a complaint lodged at Chomu police station. He was also booked in 2021 by Arain Police in Ajmer along with his brother Dr Ashok for cheating. The case came to light after police arrested three individuals Friday, including Saini, a final-year MBBS student from AIIMS Jodhpur, and a medical intern from Bharatpur. The two others were identified as Sachin Gaura, 22, and Ajit Gaura, 30. All three are residents of Chomu. Jaipur DCP (West) Amit Kumar said Sachin allegedly paid Rs 60 lakh to Saini to facilitate the impersonation. The scheme allowed Sachin to use Ajit's photograph on his NEET-UG 2020 admit card, enabling someone else—possibly Ajit—to take the exam in his place. Sachin secured 667 marks and a rank of 1,443, enough to gain admission to AIIMS Jodhpur. Ajit cleared NEET in 2019 after eight years of preparation. While Ajit and Sachin were remanded by court to police custody until June 13, Santosh Saini was sent to custody till June 10. Police say they are also investigating other individuals from Chomu who may be part of the gang and have requested records from the National Testing Agency, AIIMS Jodhpur, and Shri Jagannath Pahadia Medical College in Bharatpur.
