Jay Jay Wilson hadn't been in the cage officially in more than 18 months, and hadn't yet fought for the PFL, but his result was what he expected.
Wilson (11-1) beat Mads Burnell (20-7) with a third-round TKO this past Friday in the lightweight tournament. He moved on to a semifinal matchup against Gadzhi Rabadanov in late June – which is perfect for him, given Rabadanov is responsible for the only loss on Wilson's record more than three years ago at Bellator 276.
Wilson spoke to the media following his win at 2025 PFL World Tournament 3, which took place at Universal Studios in Orlando, Fla.

Dana White: 'Jon Jones was offered the deal and accepted the deal' to fight Tom Aspinall
There may be some hope left after all in never-ending saga between UFC heavyweight champions Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall. The MMA community at large has seemingly grown tired of the lengthy wait for Jones and Aspinall to have their long-awaited title unification clash, so much so that a online petition to strip Jones of his UFC heavyweight title has been created and signed by nearly 200,000 people, just to finally move on from the teased bout. Advertisement To make matters more frustrating, Jones has continued to troll the situation relentlessly on social media over recent weeks. But speaking Saturday following UFC 316 in Newark, New Jersey, UFC CEO Dana White indicated that he remains hopeful for the current heavyweight situation to work itself out. 'I've been saying [the Aspinall fight will happen] since the beginning, and Jon Jones agreed to do the fight [against Aspinall]," White said. "Jon Jones was offered the deal and accepted the deal. "Unless you hear it come from [my mouth] or we put out a press release, don't believe any of this bulls***. Unless we come out and say something, it's all bulls***. ... But yes, Jon agreed to fight Tom, fact.' Advertisement Jones' absence is becoming so prolonged that he's is closing in on making bizarre history as the longest reigning UFC heavyweight champion of all time, despite only defending the title once since winning it against Ciryl Gane in March 2023. Among his latest social media posts have been comments about not caring if he's stripped of the title and criticizing interim titlist Aspinall. Jones, 37, has even gone so far as to suggest he's more interested in a previously failed fight with PFL's Francis Ngannou than Aspinall. White admitted to having been forwarded the aforementioned petition to strip Jones of the belt by "every human on Earth," but hasn't kept up with Jones' latest ventings. "F***ing crazy," White reacted. "I've been busy, I haven't been keeping up with the gossip. [Jones] comes back either today or came back yesterday — he was in Thailand, so he's home [now]. We'll be home tonight, and Tuesday, we'll figure this out. Tom Aspinall's the guy. Advertisement "Listen, if the guy wants to retire and doesn't want to fight, [there's] nothing you can do. I didn't want Khabib (Nurmagomedov) to retire. I thought [Daniel Cormier] should have stuck around longer. It's none of my business. I'll do what I can to make the fight if we can. If he's talking that crazy s***, I didn't realize that." Regarding Ngannou, that's a door White has seemingly slammed shut in the years since Ngannou departed the UFC as its heavyweight champion in 2023. The UFC boss remains unreceptive to even entertaining the concept of Jones vs. Ngannou, stating that it's England's finest or no one at all for Jones. "It's Aspinall's fight. We've been talking to this kid forever about it," White said. "You can't make people fight. If Jon doesn't want to fight, we can't make him fight. We can try to make him fight. We can throw things at him that inspire him to want to fight. But we'll figure it out.'

'For anyone who's felt hopeless' - Harrison wins UFC title
Kayla Harrison won a UFC title in only her third fight in the promotion [Getty Images] Kayla Harrison put in a dominant performance as she submitted Julianna Pena to win the bantamweight title at UFC 316 in Newark, New Jersey. Harrison out-grappled fellow American Pena and controlled the action throughout before finishing the fight with a kimura at the end of the second round. In her post-fight interview, Harrison said she almost quit on Thursday after struggling during her weight cut. The 34-year-old's two PFL titles, in 2021 and 2022, were won at 155lb (11st 1lb) but she has fought at 135lb (9st 9lb) since joining the UFC last year. "This is for anyone who's ever felt hopeless, who's wanted to quit, who's wanted to give up. On Thursday I wanted to quit, I wanted to give up," said Harrison. "I'm referring to 135lb - only God can get that last pound off me, I'm not strong enough. You have to go to a bad place and the only way through is to have surrender and have faith." Advertisement After the bout Harrison faced-off with former double champion Amanda Nunes, who confirmed she would be coming out of retirement to challenge for the belt. The 37-year-old Brazilian, who retired in 2023, is a former training partner of Harrison and is widely considered the greatest women's mixed martial artist of all time. She is the only woman to become a two-division UFC champion and exited the sport with 23 wins from 28 bouts. UFC commentator Joe Rogan described a potential match-up with Harrison as "the biggest women's title bout in UFC history". "Yes definitely. We knew this is going to happen. Now we're going to do it," said Nunes. Harrison's world-class judo background has been the foundation to her success since transitioning to MMA in 2018 and it was on display as she took Pena down in both rounds. Harrison controlled the action on the ground in the latter half of the first, Pena being deducted a point for two illegal up-kicks, before securing another takedown in the second. After Pena avoided an arm triangle, Harrison switched to a kimura with seconds remaining in the round before securing the finish. In 2020, Harrison adopted her niece and nephew when her stepdad, who was looking after the children at the time, died suddenly. "This is for my family, my two beautiful children I love you unconditionally," said Harrison. "This is for all the mums, especially the single mums. I know it's hard, I know what it feels like to be punished but you're not - you're being positioned. You have a place in those children's lives." Although O'Malley defended well in the second round, he was taken down early in the third and Dvalishvili never looked back, controlling the action on the ground before securing a north-south choke. Victory was Dvalishvili's second defence of his belt and extended his winning streak to 13, the second-longest in the UFC among active fighters. Russia's Islam Makhachev holds the longest with 15. "I'm on top of the world. I came from nothing, I'm so grateful to inspire so many generations. It doesn't matter what you have if you know where you're going and you have a goal," said Dvalishvili.
