RAIPUR: As part of International Olympic Day celebrations, the Chhattisgarh Olympic Association held a seminar on the importance of sports and life-saving techniques. Trainers from the National Life Saving Society India provided athletes and coaches with essential first aid knowledge, including CPR and emergency response for injuries and medical crises. This was the first such initiative by any Olympic association in India. Experts stressed the urgent need to train all coaches and PT teachers in life-saving skills. The titled "Importance of Sports in Our Lives and Life-Saving Techniques" was organised at the state Olympics office on Monday. The seminar provided essential information on immediate first aid in various emergencies. Topics covered included the platinum period, sprains and strains, fractures/dislocations, concussions/head injuries, bleeding/wounds, nosebleeds, heat exhaustion, dehydration, heat stroke, recovery position, sudden unconsciousness, and emergency contact numbers. Detailed instructions were also given on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for heart attacks, drowning incidents, road accidents, and choking, stated association spokesperson Prashant Singh Raghuvanshi.
