Table Rock Complex fire officially crosses state lines

PICKENS COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – Officials said the Table Rock Complex Fire has now crossed the state line into North Carolina.
The Table Rock Complex fire, made up of both the Table Rock and Persimmon Ridge Fires, has become the largest wildfire the upstate has ever seen.
'One thing I was briefed on this morning, is we've had the largest chemical water drops in state history for this fire,' said Pamela Evette, the Lt. Governor for the State of South Carolina.
On Saturday, state and local officials met to give an update on their ongoing containment efforts. Fire officials said they are continuing to strengthen containment lines to the east and west of the fire while conducting burn out operations.
'Our guys and ladies are working extremely hard out there. It's very difficult working conditions. Anyone who has hiked around Table Rocks knows this is a very steep hilly country. It will wear you out on a normal day, much less when you're fighting fires, but the morale of our folks is incredible,' said Scott Phillips with South Carolina Forestry Commission.
Officials said that this year's fire season has been unprecedented because of another natural disaster.
'This is not an easy task, as we have a lot of fuel on the ground from Hurricane Helene which has posed extra challenges that they didn't have to fight before,' Evette said.
Evette added the blaze is also a high priority for the federal government saying that 'right now Table Rock is the number one fire in the country, that's why you are seeing such an increase in federal resources, because we moved up to the number one fire.'
A statewide burn ban is still in effect in South Carolina.

Beach at Raystown Lake closed until further notice due to E. coli levels

HUNTINGDON COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — Tatman Run Beach at Raystown Lake will be closed to swimmers after the most recent testing showed higher levels of E. coli. According to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Raystown Lake, a recent water sample that was taken from the swimming area showed that there was a high level of E. coli bacteria present. Due to this, the beach will be closed until further notice. It will reopen once the bacteria level is back within the 'lower 'safe' levels. The boat launch and picnic area will remain open, along with the beach itself. However, swimming will be off-limits. The engineers added that the bacteria levels fluctuate daily and can vary greatly from place to place. They also believe that heavy rain and the runoff it causes most likely played a role in the high levels of bacteria. Safety inspections and water tests are conducted weekly at Tatman Run Beach and Seven Points Beach. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. A warm Wednesday, with the chance for rain returning tomorrow

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — We have seen lots of sunshine across Mid-Michigan for the first half of our Wednesday. We will hold on to dry and mostly sunny conditions as we move throughout the rest of the day. By tomorrow afternoon, the chance for rain will increase across the region as we enter a more active weather pattern. The dry and mostly sunny conditions we have across the area this afternoon and evening will help boost our high temperature into the mid-80s. Dew points will begin to climb into the upper 50s this afternoon. However, while it will feel slightly humid outside, winds will be gusting close to 30 miles per hour to provide some relief. Dew point temperatures will rise into the low to mid-60s Thursday through Saturday, allowing humidity to increase across the region. In addition to the humidity, rain chances will return to the forecast by Thursday, with a few isolated showers and thunderstorms possible in the afternoon and evening. We hold on to the chance for precipitation Friday and Saturday, with scattered showers and thunderstorms in the forecast, thanks to a front that will stall out across our region. Dry and mostly cloudy conditions will return in time for Father's Day, which should be incredibly nice across Mid-Michigan, with low humidity and highs in the mid-70s. Nolichucky Blooms complete projects at Helene impacted homes

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — The David Crockett High School Future Farmers of America's (FFA) Nolichucky Blooms first on-site project took place on Wednesday. Through Nolichucky Blooms, students and volunteers help with planting and mulching needs around homes impacted by Hurricane Helene. 'We're getting together all these plants, we've got donations, we've got sponsors, we have a lot of sponsors, and the community has come together,' Journey Higgins, with Nolichucky Blooms, said. 'We're taking these plants that have been donated and planting them at houses that were affected by the flood.' On Wednesday, the group started at the home of Gary Cloyd, Steven Cloyd's brother. 'This is one of our things we wanted to focus on was helping the emotional aspect,' Higgins said. 'These people have been through so much, but most importantly, we want to see their spirits uplifted. It's more also just about a spiritual and emotional connection with these people as well.' For more information on Nolichucky Blooms, or to stay updated on donation needs and more, click here.
