The bustling Pearl Street Mall in the heart of the city was the scene of a shocking incident on Sunday afternoon.
FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed the nature of the attack just after 5.20pm local time, stating: "We are aware of and fully investigating a targeted terror attack in Boulder, Colorado. Our agents and local law enforcement are on the scene already, and we will share updates as more information becomes available."
Eyewitnesses recounted to CBS Colorado that an individual threw Molotov cocktails at attendees of a peaceful event organised in solidarity with Israeli hostages still held in Gaza.
Boulder Police have evacuated several blocks of Pearl Street Mall following the incident.
Authorities have identified the procession along 13th Street and Pearl Street as the focus of the suspect's attack, confirming "several victims" were harmed, reports Birmingham Live.
Videos uploaded minutes after the attack depict the ensuing pandemonium.

Seven victims are reported at the Pearl Street Mall in Boulder, Colorado, police say.
The organisers emphasised that the event was not a protest but rather a gesture of "solidarity with the hostages and their families, and a plea for their release."
Run For Their Lives issued a statement saying: "This is not a protest; it is a peaceful walk to show solidarity with the hostages and their families, and a plea for their release."
