A summer campaign is being launched by Butterfly Skin charity DEBRA with the Daily Record.
Butterfly Skin charity DEBRA is launching a summer campaign with the Daily Record asking you to sign up for a challenge and Join Team EB – and it's open to everyone.
Celebs, businesses, schools and everyday people are all joining in and challenges can be anything you want, from running to doing some extra daily steps, or something crazy.
A team from an Indian restaurant in Glasgow are making sure it gets off to a flyer by launching themselves out of a plane tomorrow.
DEBRA vice-president Graeme Souness swam the Channel last week as part of a team and other celebs are jumping on board too, such as DEBRA ambassadors Scott Brown and TV sport presenter Emma Dodds.
But Emma says it's not about the stars – this is about everyday people helping improve lives while taking on healthy fun challenges.
Emma said: 'I think giving people the chance to join Team EB is a really good idea, to increase awareness and find out more about the charity – but it also lets people get involved.
'I love that the challenge doesn't need to be really hardcore – it can be dog walking, doing some extra steps on your watch every day, whatever it is you feel you'd like to challenge yourself to do.
'It gets the message of DEBRA and what we are working to achieve out and helps bring in more people to really be part of it all.
'A few of us have been talking behind the scenes about challenge ideas and there are great ones, from doing an extra few thousand steps to three rounds of golf in a day. Others are doing skydives, running marathons and, of course, Graeme swam the Channel there and back.
'But this whole campaign is about showing it doesn't have to be a huge impossible task – whatever challenge you feel comfortable trying for DEBRA, that's what you do.
'It's more about being part of something and really getting behind the amazing work DEBRA does.'
Emma is blown away by the team from Glasgow restaurant The Malletsheugh deciding to jump out of a plane to give the campaign the perfect launch platform.
She said: 'I love the skydive idea. It's amazing the guys are doing this for DEBRA, it's so admirable.
'Jumping out of a plane is something not a lot of people would want to do, fair play to them to help us kick this off big-style.
'They have set a high bar for us to all follow, they have set the tone in some style.
'I think it will inspire a lot of people.'
The team from The Malletsheugh are thrilled to be the first to sign up to Join Team EB – and their challenge is a special way to get the summer campaign off the ground.
Aman Birk 30, Bobby Birk, 29, Humza Qadri, 24, Gurbachan Singh, 42, Rhys Hamilton, 18, Arpan Lama, 25, and Sabi Singh, 30, wanted to do something special to show their appreciation for the incredible support they have had since opening 18 months ago, winning multiple awards and running community events like a silent fireworks display while supporting local charities.
When team leader Bobby heard about the summer of challenges go Join Team EB for DEBRA, he jumped at the chance to sign up – even though he's terrified of heights.
Bobby said: 'This is pretty out there for me as I've always had a real thing about heights but when we heard about this challenge through friends who help out at DEBRA, it was something we wanted to support and try to help bring attention to the agony EB patients have to live with.
'It puts our own things into perspective – we all have difficulties in life but it really does bring it home how lucky most of us are when you see the constant pain and struggle of EB.
'I knew nothing about DEBRA or EB until I saw Graeme on TV talking about it and it hit home – I spoke to my family and to our team at the restaurant and we felt we should do something to help spread the word.
'A few people said they would love to do a skydive but were scared to take the plunge and it just felt right, so we signed up and we're jumping out of a plane Sunday, May 11.
'I really am scared of heights, so I don't know how I will feel hanging out of the open door, up in the air. If I have to be thrown out, I'll do it – it's nothing compared to the things EB patients face every minute of every day.
'We have put up a fundraising page and everything goes to this appeal, so please help if you can – and why not take on a challenge of your own?
'It's all about spreading the word and helping this brilliant charity.'

Al Quoz is all about the art, from its yearly Quoz Arts Fest to the incredible galleries and even free exhibitions you can wander through all year round. As most of these hip areas are, Al Quoz is known to be a very industrial neck of the woods too and some of the best coffee shops, Pilates studios and quirky shops are tucked up in between warehouses and factories. There are padel courts galore, from Padel AE to Padel Pro UAE, or you can even rent out a football pitch for a quick game. Al Satwa A great spot for authentic Indian and Arabic dishes, you need to make the most of everything this neck of the woods has to offer. Start by delving into the hummus at Chef Efranjyeh Café, or have a more elegant dinner on the Moonrise rooftop terrace in the shape of a stunning tasting menu. In the cooler months, make the most of lounging around in Al Satwa Park, which boasts a huge green space for picnics plus a playground for the little ones. This neighbourhood was once the centre of the city, and if you look at a map now, it'll show you just how much things have expanded over the last few decades. For a slice of history take a wander through Al Seef and visit the Al Fahidi historical neighbourhood, before hopping on a fun (and cheap) abra ride across the creek. Another iconic quality to Deira is the souks, offering literally everything from spices to gold. Karama Located in the heart of Old Dubai, Karama is an iconic Dubai neighbourhood (and one of our favourites). It might not be huge, but this little rectangle of Dubai packed with incredible culture, flavours and things to do. It's a must-visit for residents and tourists alike. There's a treat around every corner in this neighbourhood – whether it's a freshly fried samosa or an Insta-worthy mural. For a bit of fresh air, take the whole brood to Karama Park for a picnic and a few games on the patch of green space. There are areas to play cricket and badminton, paths for sauntering, lanes of cycling and patches of grass that are perfect for an afternoon nap. No visit to Al Karama is complete without a stroll up and down 18B Street either, so you can snap a photo or two of the incredible artwork pasted across the buildings. Activities Explore the galleries of Alserkal Avenue A street nestled into Al Quoz, Alserkal Avenue is a hub for all things artistic, and there are heaps of free galleries to wander around. Showcasing work from both local and international artists, you can check out everything from sculptures to portraits. Chill at Kite Beach Trendy cafés and gourmet food shacks; a skate park, hanging rope obstacle course, human slingshot experience, long swathes of sand, 14km beach-side (for the most part) running track, options to go paddle boarding, water skiing, kayaking and of course kite surfing – consider that list just a taste of things to do at this beach. Brilliant for adults, kids and everyone in between, Kite Beach may have grown its offerings at pace over the last few years but a real sense of character remains. Street 5a, behind Jumeirah Beach Road, Umm Suqeim. Take a class at SEVA Visiting this vegan eatery, wellness centre and concept store feels like stepping into India's lost city of Hampi. Plenty of trees, creepers and bushes flank the outdoor tables on either side, while indoors you'll find libraries, stone flooring, linen upholstery and furniture made of actual wooden bark. There are a selection of classes every day of the week, from sound healing to yin yoga, meditation and even chakra balancing. Once you've finished your session, sit on a cushion on the grass outside and order the gluten free pancakes (trust us on this one). Open daily 8am-10pm. Jumeirah Beach Road. (800 33 222). Watch a movie at Cinema Akil Credit: Cinema Akil The independent cinema showcases a range of films from around the world. With locations at Alserkal Avenue and the 25hours Hotel Dubai, you can checkout screenings of smaller-scale productions, classic flicks and powerful documentaries. Grab the popcorn and check the monthly timetable to see what's new. Timings vary. Alserkal Avenue and 25hours Hotel Dubai. Beauty spots Dubai Creek Park An oldie but a goodie. No roundup of the best parks in Dubai would be complete without mention of the grassy stalwart that is Dubai Creek Park. We love it for its pleasingly old-school feel, botanical gardens and fabulous views out over the water. Kids adore exploring the various mini playgrounds, scooting, cycling or running through the acres of green space, and it's also a lush spot to bring a picnic blanket and chill out with a good book. Open Sun-Wed 8am-10pm, Thu-Sat 8am-11pm. Um Hurair 2 (04 336 7633). Hatta Dam Outside of the city, the Hatta Dam is a well-known local trail for hiking and running, the perfect brief oasis of nature not far from home. Easily one of the most Instagrammed spots outside of the city, Hatta Dam truly is stunning. There are plenty of hiking trails through the mountains, including up to the iconic Hatta sign (Hollywood, eat your heart out), or you can head out on the water in a boat. If the views aren't enough for you, you can also visit Hatta Wadi Hub for water slides and other fun activities. Love Lakes Another man-made attraction, the Love Lakes in Al Qudra has no doubt made it onto your Instagram feed plenty of times in the past. The interlocked heart-shaped lakes even have trees next to them that spell out 'love', and were unveiled by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai in 2018. There are jogging tracks here for those looking to stay active, or you can load up the car with all your favourite snacks and enjoy a good old barbecue here in the winter months. Al Qudra, Dubai. Covering some five sq km and encompassing a lush Ghaf-tree-lined forest teaming with wildlife, this place is a nature-loving, bird spotters dream. That's not to say there isn't something for everyone though; we're talking an equestrian centre, running tracks and a really rather epic mountain bike track that opened late last year. Zabeel Park Sprawling Zabeel Park has so much going for it that it runs the risk of putting Dubai's other parks in the (metaphorical) shade. As well as being home to all the usual park amenities – vast areas of grass, picnic and barbecue areas, a running track, playgrounds, restaurants and a boating lake. Bring a picnic and laze around for an afternoon, or get a good game of frisbee going with the Dubai Frame as your backdrop. Dhs5 entry. Open Mon-Thu 8am-10pm; Fri -Sun 8am-11pm. Zabeel District. Restaurants Al Ustad Special Kabab The oldest restaurants in Dubai. Al Ustad Special Kabab. Credit: Al Ustad Special Kebab, a renowned Iranian kebab house on Mankhool Street in Bur Dubai, has been a local favourite since its opening in 1978. Celebrated for its yoghurt-marinated chicken and mutton kebabs, it is one of Dubai's oldest restaurants and continues to impress with its flavourful skewers. The family-run eatery, led by three brothers, is also known for its very funky interiors, featuring over 8,000 photos and memorabilia of celebrities and Dubai royalty. A highlight is the 'Special Kebab', marinated for hours and served with Iranian-style rice. Al Ustad offers authentic Iranian kebabs at affordable prices, making it a must-visit 46 years on. Café Isan Credit: Café Isan One of the coolest spots in town and one of the best casual dining restaurants in Dubai, Café Isan is a top choice whenever you're in the mood for deliciously authentic Thai food. Dig into street food classics like spring rolls and chicken wings, as well as steaming, fragrant curries and flavour-packed stir-fries. The vibes are super-chill, especially in winter when you can sit on the terrace and take in the sights of the surrounding JLT skyscrapers. The service is warm and friendly, while the drinks are affordable and the poptastic tunes add to the laid-back atmosphere. Open Sun-Thu noon-midnight; Fri-Sat noon-2am. Armada Avenue Hotel JLT, Cluster P, JLT, (058 529 1003). Kokoro In Dubai, there's nowhere doing handroll sushi at a more reasonable price than Kokoro. With its laid-back, quirky charm and rows of costumed rubber ducks dotted all over the venue. A tiny restaurant squeezed into Alserkal Avenue, you can opt for a table or seat at the bar, where you can watch the fish being sliced and prepared to become your dinner. The unassuming eatery, which has been open for 46 years now, may lack the glamour of newer dining destinations in this city, but here you will find excellent food that will transport your taste buds from the middle of Satwa to the dusty streets of Lahore. K.O. (2025) Ending Explained – Does Leo survive the gang?
K.O. Plot Summary The premise of K.O. clings to all the usual tropes you'd expect from a flick like this, jumping straight into the action. Here, we follow aspiring MMA fighter Bastien, who finds himself in the ring with his bitter rival, Enzo. The pair go toe-to-toe in a relentless and pretty brutal sequence that immediately sets the tone and mood for the rest of the movie. Bastien's fight ends in tragedy when he counters a triangle hold into a full-on slam to the mat. Enzo's head crunches against the canvas, and unfortunately, he passes away as a result. Guilt-stricken, Bastien hangs up his gloves and disappears into exile. Fast-forward two years, and our reclusive hero is called back into action by Enzo's widowed wife, Emma. Her son, Leo, has gone missing after getting mixed up in the drug trade, and it seems he may be the target of some particularly nasty gangsters. With a bullseye on his back, Leo is in big trouble—and Bastien feels a moral obligation to do right by Emma. Who are the rival gang? Bastien heads off to find out the truth about Leo's whereabouts, where he winds up indirectly working with Captain Alaoui. The rival gang are called the Manchours. They're vicious and a lot of people are scared of them. They're fronted by a man named Abdul, a relentless gangster determined to grow his empire in Marseille – no matter the cost. Alaoui loses her badge thanks to getting too aggressive with a couple of gang members outside. She teams up with Bastien to get info on Leo's whereabouts, and they soon realize that he has valuable intel that could take down the Manchours. This explains why the gang are so interested in the kid – and why they want him dead. What is driving Alaoui and Bastien to fight so hard? Alaoui lives alone and doesn't have a partner. She's consumed by her grief though, still torn up over the passing of her brother. She has a history with the Manchours, stemming from her childhood. She grew up in the same neighbourhood as the gang and her brother began working with kids on the street. Unfortunately, when the Manchours started dealing drugs and getting the kids involved, her brother pissed them off badly. In fact, one night they tied him to a chair and burned him alive. Even worse, they sent the video to Alaoui and disappeared, until a year ago when they returned. They're smart and always one step ahead, building a criminal enterprise in Marseille – which Alaoui is determined to stop. What happens at the police station? After reuniting with Leo and a tense chase sequence at the apartment complex, the group make it back to the police station where Bastien explains why he's doing all of this. His father passed away when he was a kid and since then he was angry at the world and lashed out. Bastien chose fighting as an outlet and the irony is, this accident has caused Leo's father, Enzo, to die. He recognizes that Leo is going down a dark path and although Bastien didn't mean to kill the fighter, he feels responsible for making sure he steers the kid in the right direction. Bastien was lucky, having surrounded himself with good people and managing to turn a corner, away from a potential life of misery and crime. Who is the mole? Leo reveals in his police interview that the Manchours organized a big meeting with their contacts. Leo was new and shouldn't have been there but he showed up anyway. Here, the Manchour gang met with Andalou and his gang – the same guy we saw earlier tortured for the whereabouts of the drugs earlier in the movie. This was all a trap, organized by Andalou's contact. Leo saw Abdel Manchour kill a man right in front of him but unfortunately, was spotted spying on them and he decided to run. Leo got freaked when he saw the cops because that informant working with the gang happens to be 'The Cop'. It's here where Alaoui realizes there's mole in the midst… and it happens to be Vasseur. He immediately stabs Benoit in the neck before he's shot down. This explains why Leo never went to the police – he didn't trust them. Who survives the final fight? Outside, shots are fired at Sebastopol and the surrounding areas, sending officers out to check. Unfortunately, this leaves the station severely lacking in staff, prompting the Manchour gang to come in all guns blazing and shoot the place up. Alaoui does her best to fight back but Abdul is leading the charge. Through the fighting, Alaoui and Abdul wind up duking it out while Bastien handles Abdul's right-hand man, Driss. Bastien just about comes out on top while Alaoui kills Abdul after stabbing him in the eye and driving this through his skull. With police heading back, the gang breathe a sigh of relief after coming out in one piece. How does K.O. end? Leo is finally free and no longer hunted by the (presumably defunct) Manchour gang, while Emma is reunited with her son. It seems he'll now have a way of handling and channelling his anger, courtesy of Bastien's guidance too. As for Bastien, he intends to head out and carve a new name for himself, deciding that it's time to find something new to fight, looking out at the sunset ready for another day. Read More: K.O.
