Isaiah Collier passes John Stockton in Jazz history after latest game
Rookie Isaiah Collier neared a double-double and set a Utah Jazz franchise record in the process on Monday in a loss against the Charlotte Hornets on the road.
Collier produced 17 points, seven assists, three steals, two rebounds and one blocked shot in the 110-106 loss at the Spectrum Center. He finished by shooting 6-of-11 from the field in 32 minutes as the Jazz finished March with a 1-16 record.
The 29th pick reached 419 assists on the season with the performance, surpassing Hall of Famer John Stockton for most by a rookie in franchise history (1984-85). He is the first rookie to dish out at least 400 assists in a season since Ja Morant (2019-20).
Collier is averaging 8.3 points, 6.2 assists and 3.3 rebounds on 41.9% shooting from the field in 68 games this season with the Jazz. He leads the rookie class in assists and is one of 19 players in the NBA with at least nine point-assist double-doubles.
The 20-year-old was the Western Conference Rookie of the Month in February, becoming the sixth Jazz player to win the award. He was third in the league in assists and was the first rookie to dish out at least 120 total assists in a calendar month since Morant in January 2020.
Collier has emerged as one of the top first-year players this season and looks to be a franchise cornerstone moving forward. He solidified his place in the franchise history books on Monday and should be a strong candidate to earn an All-NBA Rookie Team selection.

Pair of reports offer good and bad news on Los Angeles Lakers search for an impact center
Utah Jazz center Walker Kessler still may be out of the Los Angeles Lakers' price range. But the door opened a little wider to a potential reunion with Brook Lopez. One of the biggest priorities for the Lakers this summer will be trying to improve their frontcourt. Especially at the center spot. Last offseason, the organization was among those that showed interest in Jazz big Walker Kessler. And there have been rumblings in recent days that they could re-engage Utah in trade talks this summer. Advertisement However, this week, The Athletic Lakers insider Jovan Buha poured some cold water on that possibility. 'I think the issue with Walker Kessler and with Utah in general is their asking prices tend to be higher, and I think trading for Lauri [Markkanen] or Walker is going to be a high price,' he said in a new Q&A session on his YouTube channel. The most recent reports suggested Utah is looking for multiple future first-round picks in any potential trade for Kessler. However, with a Kessler trade unlikely, there will be some solid veteran options on the trade and free agent market this summer. One of them is Milwaukee Bucks star Brook Lopez. His name has been linked to the Lakers in recent weeks. Mainly because the man who played one season in LA seven years ago could be had at an affordable rate if Milwaukee does not plan on trying to hold on to him this summer. Well, this week, the Hardwood Paroxysm substack page reported, 'most everyone I've spoken to assumes Brook Lopez is gone.' Milwaukee is the only team that might see added value in the 37-year-old after he helped them win a championship a few seasons ago. However, with the Bucks out of the equation, his market is even weaker. While he may not be LA's top choice, if they fail in pursuits of other players, Lopez could be a worthwhile and affordable center option in August. Advertisement Related Headlines

Report: Utah Jazz may be listening to trade offers for their All-Star
The Utah Jazz have been rebuilding since they were widely praised for trading Rudy Gobert, while later being criticized for trading Donovan Mitchell in 2022. The Minnesota Timberwolves have since made two Western Conference Finals appearances, which is farther than the Jazz ever got with the four-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year. Yet, the Jazz haven't even been able to get back to the playoffs since conducting their two blockbuster trades. Now, they could be looking to trade their best player again. Advertisement According to The Ringer's Bill Simmons, there's a belief among NBA league circles that the Jazz are now open to listening to trade offers for Lauri Markkanen. The one-time All-Star has been a popular subject of trade rumors in the past. The legitimate seven-footer has established a reputation for being one of the sweetest shooting bigs in the NBA, holding a 37.1% three-point rate for his career while averaging 2.5 makes per game. Still just 28 years old, Markkanen should have a great amount of trade value around the NBA, especially among teams looking to add more size and shooting to their lineup. The Jazz may also have interest in trading former Timberwolves first-round pick Walker Kessler, who came to Utah as one of the centerpieces in the Gobert trade. Kessler is about to turn 24 years old, has averaged 2.4 blocks per game in his career but is now extension eligible for the first time in his career and the Jazz may not want to foot the bill. Where Asa Newell is going in mock drafts after the lottery
Former Georgia Bulldogs star power forward Asa Newell has been mocked as a first round pick in the 2025 NBA draft. Newell's projecting landing spot shifts from the top 10 to middle of the first. Now that the NBA lottery has officially taken place, certain fits for Newell have emerged. Draft experts have attempted to predict where Newell will go based on positional need and scheme fit. Advertisement The 6-foot-11, 220-pound forward offers rim protection, the ability to switch on to smaller players defensively, an array of post moves, excellent athleticism and has shooting upside. Newell is a lob threat and strong dunker. He helped Georgia make the NCAA Tournament for the first time in a decade. Here is where Newell is going in mock drafts after the lottery. ESPN: 21st overall pick, Utah Jazz (via Minnesota Timberwolves) WICHITA, KANSAS - MARCH 20: Graham Ike #13 of the Gonzaga Bulldogs reacts as he defends against Asa Newell #14 of the Georgia Bulldogs during the first half in the first round of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament at INTRUST Arena on March 20, 2025 in Wichita, Kansas. The Jazz acquired this pick for trading away Rudy Gobert and now they get a potential replacement at the four or five. Utah has found great value through picks outside of the lottery, such as Kyle Filipowski and Isaiah Collier. Advertisement They could get the same with Newell, a high-ceiling player who has all the measurables to be an elite offensive talent. He may be more of a power forward with those measurables, but if he can shoot the three-ball at an efficient rate, a role for him as stretch big isn't out of the question. ESPN's Jonathan Givony and Jeremy Woo made the mock draft. Yahoo: 18th pick, Washington Wizards Mar 20, 2025; Wichita, KS, USA; Georgia Bulldogs forward Jaden Newell (24) and forward Asa Newell (14) in the second half of a first round men's NCAA Tournament game against the Gonzaga Bulldogs at Intrust Bank Arena. Similar to the Jazz, the Wizards acquired this pick via trade from the Memphis Grizzlies. Also, similar to this pick, the Wizards have plenty of minutes for young talent like Newell to develop. More than likely, Alex Sarr is the center of the future in Washington, but Newell could be a nice foil to him if Newell can develop his offensive game. His high energy game could be a boost for the Wizard's backcourt defense. Advertisement Yahoo's Kevin O'Connor mocked this selection. CBS: Orlando Magic, 25th pick Feb 25, 2025; Athens, Georgia, USA; Georgia Bulldogs forward Asa Newell (14) gets fouled by Florida Gators forward Alex Condon (21) late in the game during the second half at Stegeman Coliseum. Unlike both the Wizards and Jazz, who had the two worst records in the league, the Orlando Magic were a playoff team that could've been a title contender with better injury luck and three point shooting. The Magic also lack in backcourt depth and Newell could immediately qualify for starting minutes if he beats out Wendell Carter Jr. in the frontcourt. Even then, the Magic don't have many forwards on the bench, and Newell's shot blocking and high energy can keep him on the floor for longer. CBS's Kyle Boone made this pick in his mock draft.
