REVEALED: The English Premier League star Aberdeen winger Shayden Morris watches before games for inspiration

Aberdeen winger Shayden Morris has revealed he studies footage of an England international and Premier League legend in a bid to further improve his game. Morris played a pivotal role in the Dons' Scottish Cup final win against Celtic as the Reds won the trophy for the first time since 1990. The 23-year-old made an explosive impact off the bench when his cross was parried into his own net by Celtic keeper Kasper Schmeichel. In a memorable season, Scottish Cup-winning hero Morris also scooped the Aberdeen Player of the Year award – voted for by supporters. However, he is constantly striving to improve his performances and watches footage of Raheem Sterling for inspiration before matches. Sterling, 30, won four Premier League titles, an FA Cup and five League Cups with Manchester City. Currently at Chelsea, the winger – capped 82 times by England – has scored 174 career goals and spent last season on loan at Arsenal. Morris said: 'I still watch clips of Raheem Sterling from his Manchester City days to study his movement. 'Of course, at Arsenal he hasn't been the same as he was before at City, but it's him as a person I look up to. 'I want to improve so even before games sometimes I'll study Sterling online. 'He has pace, but he's also got the skill to make the most of that, so I'm trying to add stuff that he did. 'I like to think I'm slowly getting better at that so I can help the team as much as possible.' Signed from Fleetwood Town in summer 2022, Morris endured a frustrating first two seasons at Pittodrie due to injury. In his debut season, the winger suffered a hamstring tear which ruled him out for four months. There was a further injury setback in the 2023-24 season when Morris was ruled out for three months with another hamstring injury which required surgery. However, under manager Jimmy Thelin, the wing star has delivered a breakout season with five goals and 13 assists. In his constant pursuit of improvement, Morris has also sought advice from former Scotland international winger Robert Snodgrass. Former Leeds United, Aston Villa, West Ham and Norwich City star Snodgrass is now an agent. Capped 28 times, Snodgrass is with the same agency as Morris' representative. Morris hopes guidance from Snodgrass can help him develop into 'something really special'. He said: 'I've also got a good support system around me with my agent Joe Bolger, as we do a lot of analysis. 'Robert Snodgrass is also part of the agency and we do a lot of stuff together as well. 'He was a winger and quite a technical player – although he didn't have as much pace as me. 'In fact, he told me: 'I didn't have your pace, but I've got the other side of the game'. 'So if he can help me with that other side then hopefully I can merge into something really special.' Morris may have been seeking advice from Snodgrass and inspiration from Sterling on how to elevate his game to the next level. However, he has also been passing on his own knowledge to help younger players develop. Morris helped fellow Londoner Alfie Dorrington during his loan spell at Pittodrie from Tottenham Hotspur. Centre-back Dorrington started the Scottish Cup final win against Celtic at Hampden. The 20-year-old has now returned to his parent club. Prior to joining Aberdeen on loan. Dorrington signed an extended contract with Tottenham until summer 2029. Morris said: 'When Alfie first came up, I knew he hadn't played much first-team football so I really tried to help him. 'I told him how things were really different compared to London, and he settled in well. 'Alfie showed he's a really good player technically and built on that physical side. 'I think he's only going to get better and better – you can see why Spurs rate him so highly.'

Shayden Morris on his unseen Aberdeen inspiration from Raheem Sterling and brutal advice from Scotland hero

The season ended in Scottish Cup glory for Morris but he is already gearing up for next season Shayden Morris has been studying footage of Raheem Sterling in his prime in a bid to shine for Aberdeen on the continent. The winger was one of the Dons' main players last term, helping them to Scottish Cup glory after being named their player of the year. ‌ That followed the 23-year-old Englishman working hard on the defensive side of his game under Jimmy Thelin. ‌ But Morris has also taken steps to add more creativity and finishing touches by watching England winger Sterling at the top of his game at Manchester City for tips. A Europa League assault looms for Dons while Sterling and his Chelsea team-mates are Champions League bound. Londoner Morris said: 'I still watch old Raheem Sterling clips from the Man City days to study his movement. 'I want to improve on that so, even before games, sometimes I'll study him. 'He has pace but he's also got the skill to make the most of that, so I'm trying to add stuff that he did. 'I like to think I'm slowly getting better at that so I can help the team as much as possible.' ‌ It coincides with the former Fleetwood youngster moving to a new agency, where he can lean on former Scotland international Robert Snodgrass for on-field advice. Morris added: 'I've got a good support system around me with my agent Joe Bolger as we do a lot of analysis. ‌ 'Also, Snodgrass is part of the agency and we do a lot of stuff together as well. He was a winger and quite a technical player, although he didn't have as much pace as me. 'In fact, he told me 'I didn't have your pace but I've got the other side of the game'. 'So if he can help me with that other side, hopefully I can merge into something really special.' ‌ The Dons hierarchy remain in discussions with Morris and his representatives over a contract extension. His deal is up next summer and talks have been ongoing for several week, with Thelin hoping an agreement can be thrashed out. His season may have ended only a week-and-a-half ago but the Pittodrie favourite cannot wait to return to playing group stage games when Dons go into the Europa League play-off round knowing they are set for regular games in either that tourney or the Conference. ‌ Morris was involved at that play-off stage two seasons ago when Barry Robson's side lost out to BK Hacken. He then missed the majority of the Conference League group stage games due to injury. Now he is determined to ensure both he and Aberdeen make their mark. He said: 'I played in the two Hacken games, then I got injured but got back for the win over Eintracht Frankfurt. ‌ 'It was massive to be in the side who beat them as they are a big name in Europe and it was a moment to remember. 'Hopefully I can go into it fully fit and create more of those memorable nights for the club. 'It was hard for me last time. I even missed the travelling to the away games because I was working so hard to get back fit. 'So I would even look forward to that side of playing in European football.'

Morris the alligator, known for Happy Gilmore and other films, dies around age 80

Morris, a famous alligator known for his appearances in movies and TV shows, most notably the 1996 comedy Happy Gilmore, has died at around 80 years old at the Colorado Gator Farm. Adam Sandler, star of Happy Gilmore, posted a tribute to Morris in an X post on Wednesday, recalling the reptile's diva-like behavior on set. 'We are all gonna miss you,' Sandler wrote. 'You could be hard on directors, make-up artists, costumers – really anyone with arms or legs – but I know you did it for the ultimate good of the film,' Sandler wrote. 'The day you wouldn't come out of your trailer unless we sent in 40 heads of lettuce taught me a powerful lesson: never compromise your art.' He added: 'I will miss the sound of your tail sliding through the tall grass, your cold, bumpy skin, but, most of all, I will miss your infectious laugh.' Morris' iconic confrontation with Sandler's titular character in Happy Gilmore after he consumes a golfball is widely believed to be the alligator's strongest on-screen performance. Measuring nearly 11ft and weighing 640lbs, Morris had a long Hollywood career beginning in 1975 after being rescued from an illegal pet situation in Los Angeles. Though his exact age is unknown, the reptile was estimated to be over 80 years old based on his growth rate and tooth loss. He retired in 2006 and spent his final years at the Colorado sanctuary. Morris featured in several major films such as Interview with the Vampire, Dr Dolittle 2, and Blues Brothers 2000, as well as TV shows like Coach and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. But undoubtedly his most iconic role was alongside Sandler in the golf-centered comedy. The Gator Farm, where Morris was cared for in his later years, announced plans to preserve his body through taxidermy, honoring his legacy and continuing to educate and entertain visitors. 'We have decided to get Morris taxidermied so that he can continue to scare children for years to come,' the farm shared on Facebook. 'It's what he would have wanted. We went ahead and made a video of his weight so folks could understand how massive he really was. Thanks for the wonder things everyone has had to say about him.' Meanwhile, Sandler and a handful of new and returning cast members are preparing to release a sequel to Happy Gilmore this summer on Netflix. It remains to be seen whether the long-awaited film will include a tribute to Morris.
