A brutal second round on Friday paved the way for an unlikely leader at the US Open, and Sam Burns still remains atop the leaderboard now heading into today's final round. Burns, who has been atop the leaderboard since the conclusion of Round 2, currently holds a one shot lead going into Round 4. Burns shot 65 on Friday and followed that up with 69 on Saturday. If his lead holds, he could become just the eighth golfer to win his first major at Oakmont. Just behind Burns at 3-under par is J.J. Spaun, who has also been hovering atop the leaderboard throughout the three rounds, and Adam Scott. Will Shedeur Sanders Even Be in Cleveland This Fall

Will Shedeur Sanders Even Be in Cleveland This Fall originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Shedeur Sanders lit up Folsom Field with NFL-caliber plays, swagger, and a Heisman-worthy arm. But just months after being drafted by the Cleveland Browns, the former Colorado Buffaloes star now faces a stunning question: Will he even be in Cleveland when the NFL season kicks off? Advertisement That question gained real traction after a USA Today columnist cast serious doubt on Sanders' status heading into Browns training camp. 'By the time training camp arrives in July, Sanders said, he plans on being there,' wrote Chris Bumbaca. 'Whether Stefanski and the Browns coaching staff agree or not will determine the direction of Sanders' rookie season.' Bumbaca's blunt analysis shook Buffaloes Nation. The underlying message? Sanders' NFL future isn't just uncertain, it may already be in jeopardy. The fifth-round pick entered one of the most crowded quarterback rooms in the league. Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and Dillon Gabriel are all healthy. That leaves Sanders as the odd man out, fourth on the depth chart. Advertisement NFL insider Michael Davis of Pro Football Talk echoed those concerns back in April: 'Sanders landed in a place where he's no sure thing to even make the roster… No NFL team is going to keep five quarterbacks.' The writing on the wall is hard to ignore. Sanders may already be fighting not just for a job, but for a future in the league, all before his first preseason snap. In Boulder, Shedeur wasn't just the quarterback, he was the brand. As the face of Coach Prime's program, he turned CU football into must-watch television. Now, Sanders is navigating life at the bottom of an NFL roster, with whispers of a potential trade or outright release gaining steam. Former Colorado QB Shedeur Tre. Smith-Imagn Images For Colorado fans, the situation feels both surreal and frustrating. How does a player with top-tier talent, one who threw for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns in 2024 behind a porous offensive line, get buried this quickly? Advertisement The truth may lie in NFL politics, roster math, and a harsh reality: draft pedigree still matters. Could a team in need of quarterback depth, like the Raiders, Giants, or even the Broncos come calling? Or will Sanders be forced to prove himself on a practice squad, far from the spotlight he once thrived under? One thing is certain: if Sanders doesn't break through in Cleveland soon, his time there could be over before it really begins. Colorado fans have seen what Shedeur can do when counted out. But this time, the stakes are different, and so is the audience. Browns' Kevin Stefanski Has Strong Reaction to Shedeur Sanders' Minicamp

Browns' Kevin Stefanski Has Strong Reaction to Shedeur Sanders' Minicamp originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Shedeur Sanders offseason story has begun to shift slightly in media and fan circles. Many people wonder why Sanders isn't getting first team reps. That question has led to irrational speculation. The current issue is that QB1 for Sanders is being viewed as a 'validation award' for the historic draft slide Sanders experienced. A lack of first-team reps is not an indicator of a lack of interest. Kevin Stefanski did an interview with Beau Bishop of the Cleveland Browns Daily to address the mandatory minicamp. Advertisement The four QB plan As early as the spring before the NFL Draft, Stefanski's staff began developing a play to ensure the young guy(s) they bring in will have opportunities for reps while behind two veterans. The 'Two-Spot', the concept of running the same plays on two fields simultaneously to give twice the reps, is not a new concept in college football. The 'Two-Spot' is less common in the NFL. Trying to invent additional reps for QBs in a typical QB1-4 is much more difficult and it creates an injury concern with the number of plays receivers, lineman and backs would need to play. 'I wish I could just push a button and say you guys got this. That just doesn't exist in this game.' Shedeur Sanders specific comments Surprisingly, Stefanski claims they haven't learned much new information since Shedeur arrived in Cleveland. Maintaining that they felt like they knew him very well from the pre-draft work. 'He has fun when he's in the building. I'm enjoying watching him progress through every meeting, every rep, he's doing a great job.' Stefanski even shared a fun story about the conversations between Joe Flacco and Shedeur in camp. Advertisement 'I sit directly behind him (Shedeur) and Joe (Flacco) sits just left of Shedeur. To see those two bouncing ideas is hilarious. Joe will say a few things and I'll say, Joe, Shedeur wasn't born yet. He's a great kid, he's working really hard, and he's playing really well.' The QB Room Bishop mentioned the QB room and how great it seems with how they are consistently helping and pushing each other. Stefanski seconded the notion by saying he loves how the room pushes each other as well as the 'diversity of thought' shared within the group. A notion new fans should warm up to is that this franchise does not give any more information than they are required to. It is almost 'Belichickian'. Which makes trying to read or handicap the situation difficult. Bishop asked about a date when the QB depth chart needs to be finalized. Stefanski gave his now well-known answer/non-answer. Related: Stephen A. Smith Sends Heartfelt Message to Deion Sanders 'We've approached this offseason differently where we're trying to be in evaluation mode and see different guys. When you get to training camp it evolves. I have some dates where we'll certainly make some decisions. The fun part is we get three games with these guys to see live reps. The practices against Carolina and two against Philly will be valuable as well. Our mentality will change in late July and August.' Advertisement Related: Will Shedeur Sanders Even Be in Cleveland This Fall Marathon not a sprint Seemingly every fan and media outlet are checking every day to see if there has been any depth chart movement with the four quarterbacks. The objective truth is no one outside the meeting rooms in Berea, OH will know anything until at least mid-July and any conclusion prior to that is ill advised. The evaluation process was always going to look different than a conventional competition. The evaluation process will continue with zero movement until such a time as the team plans on making an announcement.
