$20K reward offered after man seen decapitating sea lion in Bodega Bay
(KRON) — A $20,000 reward is being offered for information on a grisly discovery at Doran Regional Park in Bodega Bay on Christmas Day. NOAA's Office of Law Enforcement is investigating after a man was reported to be seen cutting the head off of a California sea lion.
The dead sea lion, still intact, was found on Doran Beach by park staff on Dec. 25, 2024. Later that day, NOAA Fisheries said an eyewitness came forward and told law enforcement that they saw a man remove the dead mammal's head with a black 8-inch knife and place it in a clear plastic bag before riding away on a black fat tire e-bike.
The suspect was described as a 'tan-complexioned male, approximately 30–40 years old, dressed in all black,' officials said.
The reward of up to $20,000 is for information leading to a civil penalty or criminal conviction, NOAA said. Anyone with information is asked to call NOAA's 24/7 enforcement hotline at 800-853-1964.
The Marine Mammal Protection Act prohibits the harassment, hunting, capturing or killing of marine mammals.

11 years in prison for man who shot grocery store worker and assaulted correction officer
A 21-year-old Magnolia man has been sentenced to more than a decade in prison for shooting a teen grocery store employee in 2023 and for assaulting a correctional officer later that year. In addition to his 11-year prison stint, the Delaware Department of Justice said Jay'Mere Matthews will have several levels of probation to go through after he is released. Matthews was charged after the Aug. 22, 2023, shooting of a 19-year-old Redner's Markets employee near the grocery store located at 2500 S. DuPont Highway in Camden. The employee, according to the DOJ, was unarmed. Matthews was being held at Sussex Correctional Institution for that crime when prosecutors said he assaulted a correctional officer on Christmas Day of that same year. Matthews pleaded guilty but mentally ill to first-degree assault, second-degree assault of a correctional officer and a weapons charge. He was sentenced on May 27. He will receive a mental health evaluation and may serve a portion of his sentence at the Delaware Psychiatric Center new New Castle before being remanded to the state Department of Correction. A Man Was Arrested After Breaking Into the Grounds of Windsor Castle
A man has been arrested after sparking a security scare at Windsor Castle. The intruder entered the restricted grounds of the castle on Sunday where he was detained on suspicion of trespassing and possession of drugs, police told news outlets today. 'A man in his thirties has been arrested on suspicion of trespass on a protected site and possession of Class A drugs after entering private grounds at Windsor Castle,' a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police, who are responsible for royal protection, told media in a statement. 'Officers in the grounds spotted the man just after 13.00hrs on Sunday, 1 June and quickly arrested him. He was then passed into the custody of Thames Valley Police.' Thames Valley Police confirmed the arrest to media, pointing out that the man did not enter the inner grounds at Windsor Castle. The man has been bailed and an investigation is ongoing. The Sun, which broke the story, quoted a source as saying the incident 'caused quite a stir,' but that 'at this stage it appears there was no intent to cause any serious harm.' Windsor Castle is one of the King's official residences. However, last weekend he was photographed at Sandringham in Norfolk where he waved to those gathered as he made his way to church. Prince William, Kate, and their three children live in Adelaide Cottage, which is on the grounds of the Windsor Castle estate. It is not known if they were home at the time of the incident, however their cottage is not situated next to the castle itself where the intruder was detained. Buckingham Palace has been contacted for comment. This is not the first time that an intruder has made it into the castle grounds, and previous incidents have at times been serious. On Christmas Day 2021, a man was arrested after breaking into Windsor Castle armed with a crossbow. He was later charged under the Treason Act and apologized to the royals. Man pleads guilty to ‘swatting' calls against GA lawmakers, including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene
A Romanian man has pleaded guilty to making dozens of 'swatting' calls against state and federal officials in late 2023, including at least six Georgia lawmakers. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, 26-year-old Thomas Szabo pleaded guilty to being the leader of a conspiracy group that targeted government buildings, churches and homes with 'swatting' calls and bomb threats. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lt. Gov. Burt Jones. Greene posted on social media that this was her eighth time being 'swatted.' Police in Rome, where the congresswoman lives, told Channel 2 Action News that a man in New York called the Georgia suicide hotline claiming to have shot his girlfriend at Greene's home and was going to kill himself next. That turned out to be false. Republican state Senators John Albers, Clinton Dixon and Kay Kirkpatrick, as well as Democratic state Senator Kim Jackson also say they were targeted.
