Top-five prospect Nate Ament commits to Tennessee
April 21 - Five-star forward Nate Ament, one of the top players in the Class of 2026, committed to Tennessee on Sunday.
Ament is rated the No. 4 overall player in his class by the 247Sports composite rankings. The native of Virginia chose the Volunteers over Duke, Kentucky, Louisville and Arkansas.
Ament made his announcement in a video posted to social media and told ESPN that Volunteers coach Rick Barnes was a major factor in his decision.
Barnes "sees me as a one-and-done type player," Ament said. "He has done it before with Kevin Durant (at Texas). He sees me as that kind of guy for his program. I built a great relationship with the coaching staff. I trust them a lot, and they have big goals for me. I think they'll do a great job of developing me as a player and a young man. I trust the coaches to help me get to the next level."
The 6-foot-10 Ament is a McDonald's All-American and Virginia's Gatorade Player of the Year.
"Having the confidence to truly believe I'm one of the best players in the country was the most important part," Ament told ESPN. "It wasn't about height or strength, it was about putting the training I've been given to use."
Tennessee finished the season 30-8 as it earned a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament and advanced to the Elite Eight, where it fell to top-seeded Houston.

World number one Scottie Scheffler, the overwhelming pre-tournament favourite, also struggled in posting a 73, along with defending champion Bryson DeChambeau. Scheffler said: 'I just feel like after today, I've probably got to give myself a few more looks, it could have been a little bit of a different story. 'But the golf course is just challenging.' Two-time US Open champion Brooks Koepka made a better fist of it, an eagle on the fourth hole helping him to two under, while Jon Rahm and Jordan Spieth were one under. Scotland's Robert MacIntyre reckons he played one of the best rounds of his career in shooting a level par, which puts him four shots off the pace. McIlroy was simply beaten up by an unforgiving golf course which punishes you when you miss the fairway, which the Northern Irishman did plenty of times, and even sometimes when you hit the fairway. Starting on the back nine, it seemed to be going all too well for the Northern Irishman as he made the turn at two under after birdies at the 11th and 12th. His playing partners Justin Rose and Shane Lowry did not fare any better as Rose went round in a seven-over 77 with the Irishman a further two shots back and both facing the prospect of missing the cut. 'All you've been hearing is how hard this place is, and it's hard to not hear the noise and see what's on social media,' he said. 'You're just kind of only hearing about how hard this course is. But I actually tried to harness that, the nerves, the anxiety, because it kind of heightens my focus, makes me swing better, I guess.' The NFL franchise are playing in London again during the regular season, alongside the New York Jets and Cleveland Browns. Ahead of their big return to the English capital, the Welshman has travelled back across the pond to promote the event. And it has also been announced he has signed a new deal with a talent management agency. In a collaborative Instagram post, the brand specialists, Marvellous Club, revealed Rees-Zammit had signed with them, marking the beginning of their expansion into the United States. Despite spending a season as part of the 17-player practice squad, the Welshman was not elevated to the main roster to play in a proper game. However, his first season was more of a learning phase. Therefore, his last real game was in pre-season last year while at the Kansas City Chiefs, so it'll be around one year since he last played a match. Jaguars found out they'll be taking on three teams in August this year, with Rees-Zammit highly likely to be involved in at least one of those. Rogue Supremacy subject to plenty of attention with Ascot looming
Rogue Supremacy is providing owners The Rogues Gallery with plenty of excitement ahead of Royal Ascot – providing their heads are not turned by a big-money move prior to the summer highlight kicking off. David O'Meara's youngster impressed when making all in his Wetherby debut, scorching clear of the opposition to give himself the options of the Coventry Stakes, Norfolk Stakes and Windsor Castle at the Royal meeting. 'We really, really like this horse, loads of people are trying to buy this horse and he could even be sold by the time we get to Ascot but I'm trying not to,' said Tony Elliott, founder of The Rogues Gallery. 'The jockey was more or less stood up with him the whole way at Wetherby and we don't know what we've got yet and that's the whole idea of going to Ascot. 'He's sharp and we don't know if he'll get the six furlongs, so it could be that we're looking at the five-furlong races over the Coventry. 'But I'll leave that with David O'Meara, he knows the horse and it's not really my decision, I leave it to the trainers. He'll be entered in three of the races and it's just a case of then picking the right one.' The son of St Mark's Basilica has courted plenty of attention since getting his sire off the mark last month, but at the moment the 'Rogues' are withstanding the pressure to sell the talented youngster, having already cashed in on the Paddy Twomey-trained Rogue Legend prior to Ascot. Rogue Legend transferred to the ownership of American John Stewart and his Resolute Racing operation for a fee rumoured to be seven figures, and Elliott admitted there is always plenty to consider when offers hit the table. He added: 'It's not all about selling because we want some nice ones ourselves and it's a tricky situation. However, we're not all multi-millionaires and sometimes you have to use your head rather than your heart ruling your head. 'People keep saying it must be a lovely position to be in, but it's difficult. We all want a bit of money, but at the same time we want those nice horses as well. Luckily enough we keep putting ourselves in this position and I do think we've plenty of cracking horses coming through of real quality.' Royal Ascot winner Rogue Millennium and crack sprinter Rogue Lightning were two others to excel for The Rogues Gallery before switching hands for £1.65million and £1million respectively at the sales, as the popular syndicate continues to source above-average operators. And Rogue Supremacy could be joined next week by James Owen's Rogue Millions, who is poised for the Golden Gates Handicap after readily accounting for some smart opposition at Chepstow recently. 'Rogue Millions will hopefully go to the Golden Gates and he could even be our best horse, he beat two really nice horses comfortably at Chepstow,' continued Elliott. 'We've got a lot of nice ones at the moment and everyone is buzzing, it couldn't be going better for us. I would say we're overachieving and I guess the person under pressure is me to keep finding them.'
