Across the entirelineup, Apple is rumored to be doubling the front-facing camera resolution, upgrading it from the current 12 MP to a sharper 24 MP sensor. What does that mean for you? Expect much clearer, more detailed selfies that capture every little detail, plus video calls that look noticeably crisper and more vibrant. Apple could finally bring 8K video recording to its Pro models for the first time. If this pans out, it will be Apple's long-awaited jump into ultra-high-res video – a major upgrade the Pro line has needed for a while.Apple is apparently working on a tougher screen with a new anti-reflective coating. That means better scratch and drop resistance, plus less glare when you are outside trying to check your notifications, watch a video or simply use your phone for whatever reason. This one is a bit surprising. Rumors say Apple could ditch the titanium frame exclusive to the Pro models and switch to aluminum for thePro series. For context, iPhone 15 and 16 Pros had titanium, while iPhone X to 14 Pros used stainless steel. The back might get a 'part-aluminum, part-glass' makeover, too. Not everyone's going to love losing that feature usually reserved for the higher-end feel. With AI becoming a bigger deal, more RAM is a must. ThePro and Pro Max should get 12 GB of RAM – a first for iPhones. This boost should help Apple Intelligence run smoother and multitasking feel faster. For context, all iPhone 16 models max out at 8 GB.As usual, thePro will pack Apple's newest chipset. In this case, that should be the A19 Pro, built on TSMC's third-gen 3nm process. Expect modest gains in speed and battery life – nothing revolutionary, but solid improvements.Apple has been working on in-house modems for 5G and Wi-Fi for a while now. ThePro and Pro Max should debut a new combo Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth chip, possibly rolling out to the rest of the lineup later.Theseries should also get upgraded cooling, with the iPhone 17 Pro Max standing out thanks to a vapor chamber and graphite sheet combo. This liquid cooling system is designed to stop the phone from overheating and throttling performance, which is key as AI and powerful chips push the limits.

Exclusive: Here's our first look at NxtQuantum's AI+ Nova 2 5G smartphone

Last week, we learned that AI+, a smartphone brand part of NxtQuantum Shift Technologies led by Madhav Sheth, will launch its first smartphone by the end of June. And yesterday, the brand announced that it would launch its Nova series 5G smartphones in India on June 25 without revealing the names or specs of the phones. Well, we know one of the smartphones will be called Nova 2 5G, and we've got an exclusive image of the phone to share with you. The picture shows the back of the AI+ Nova 2 5G, having a glossy panel with a squircle-shaped camera island in the top-left corner. The island houses an LED flash and two cameras. There's also text on the right side of the camera module that reads "Matrix AI Camera," suggesting that the AI+ Nova 2 5G will come with some AI-powered camera features. A sticker on the back cover of the AI+ Nova 2 5G reveals dual-SIM support, with the phone having 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage onboard. However, there could be more memory options available that are currently unknown. That's all the image of the AI+ Nova 2 5G reveals. AI+ said the Nova series smartphones launching on June 25 will be "affordable AI-powered 5G smartphones," starting at INR5,000. The lineup will include "three distinct models" priced between INR5,000 and INR8,000, promising to "redefine the smartphone experience for Indian consumers, offering high-speed 5G connectivity, powerful AI features, and sustainable design." Speaking of sustainability, the Nova series smartphones are manufactured using refurbished parts to reduce e-waste. And, as a part of the brand's commitment to the Indian government's "Make in India" initiative, the smartphones will be assembled locally by Ismartu. The brand previously confirmed that AI+ smartphones will run NxtQuantum OS, which, it says, "has been uniquely designed by Indian engineers, offering a user-friendly interface optimized for the Indian market." The AI+ Nova series smartphones go on sale in India starting June 25 through offline retail partners and leading online platforms, including Flipkart. You can expect to hear more about them in the coming days.

T-Mobile kills the SIM block feature, making employees very happy

In 2022, when SIM swap attacks were rampant, T-Mobile disabled self-service SIM swap and rolled out a SIM block service to beef up account security. The SIM block feature has now been retired. T-Mobile is texting customers who enabled the SIM block feature that it's no longer available. This feature was announced to combat SIM swap, a hijacking tactic used by criminals to switch a customer's number to a SIM card they own. This allows criminals to view incoming communication, including two-factor authentication (2FA) verification checks and One-Time Password (OTP) sent to verify a user's identity and grant access to an account or service. The SIM block feature allowed customers to put blocks on line and account levels to prevent their number from being transferred to another SIM card. T-Mobile has shored up security since then to fight SIM swaps and a report in Apri said that self-service SIM swaps may return soon. While we wait for that to happen, T-Mobile has sunsetted the SIM block feature. Customers will still be protected by the SIM Protection feature, which the company claims offers better security. SIM protection is a free feature designed to prevent unauthorized SIM swaps. Customers can enable and disable it in the T-Life app and on the company's website. The feature must be toggled off before switching to a new SIM card or moving the eSIM to a new device. A T-Mobile text telling customers that the SIM block feature has been deprecated. | Image Credit - FullTransparency Since an alternative to SIM block exists in the form of SIM Protection, no one seems sad to see it go. Employees are happy that the SIM block is being phased out, as sometimes it results in a bad customer experience. —sit_n_survive, Reddit user, June 2025 That's because the blocks were usually enabled and disabled by store staff. When a block was active, accounts were verified using a one-time passcode. Representatives often found themselves in challenging situations when a SIM change was required for accounts with SIM block and no lines were available to receive the passcode. —Ecstatic_Brain_4433, Reddit user, June 2025 The SIM Protection feature gives customers more control and ensures that if you are unable to receive the one-time code for some reason, you will still be able to have the block removed. My 90-day free trial with T-Mobile's T-Satellite comes with some cool extras

Having signed up for T-Mobile's T-Satellite beta, the carrier informed me today that I officially have been invited to join the 90-day free beta. If you received the same invitation, or you're waiting for your own invite, you need to understand that it offers you more than just the T-Satellite beta that allows you to send and receive texts in areas of the country without cellular service. Yes, you'll be able to send emergency texts to 911 and even share your location via text. Compatible phones will automatically connect to T-Satellite when no cellular signal can be found and the sky is clear. You will also get access to T-Mobile 's 5G network for 90 days including 50GB of high-speed data and unlimited texts. You'll also be eligible to claim the perks from T-Mobile Tuesdays, the industry's best customer rewards program. After the 90 days is up, you'll lose access to T-Mobile 's cellular network and T-Mobile Tuesdays unless you decide to subscribe to T-Mobile . Follow the directions to sign up for T-Mobile's T-Satellite beta. | Image credit-PhoneArena When you join the beta, you will have to give T-Mobile a valid credit card. That's because after the 90 days expire, you'll be charged $10 a month for the satellite service which is a $5-a-month savings from the regular $15/month price. You can call to cancel before the free trial expires When you do join the beta you will have to give T-Mobile your phone's unique IMEI number which, on iOS, you can find by going to Settings > General > About . Look for the number next to IMEI. On Android go to Settings > About phone and scroll down to the IMEI number. Make sure you have a dual SIM phone before allowing T-Mobile to use one. | Image credit-PhoneArena If your phone has dual eSIMs, which are embedded in your phone's motherboard, you can follow the directions to have T-Mobile use an open eSIM while your current carrier uses the other eSIM. If your phone has just a single eSIM, you will need to get a physical SIM card for your carrier to allow T-Satellite to use your eSIM. It's also possible that if you agree to allow T-Mobile to use an eSIM on your phone and you only have one, you will lose your connection with your current carrier.
