Paul Stirling
etched his name into Irish cricket history on Wednesday, becoming the first Ireland batter to surpass 10,000
international runs
during a dominant 124-run victory over the West Indies in the opening ODI in Dublin.
Stirling's composed knock of 54 off 64 balls took his career tally to 10,017 runs across formats.
"Delighted to get there. It was something I dreamt of as a kid but as a professional cricketer you can't dwell too much about it," said Stirling after reaching the milestone.

Stirling laid the foundation alongside fellow opener Andy Balbirnie, who struck a brilliant 112 off 138 balls, featuring nine boundaries and four sixes.
Their 109-run stand set the tone, while Harry Tector added a valuable 56, powering Ireland to 303/6 after being asked to bat. Alzarri Joseph claimed two wickets for the visitors, while Matthew Forde ended with three for 68.

Ireland's bowlers then ripped through the West Indies' top order. After Evin Lewis was run out early, debutant Thomas Mayes clean bowled Windies skipper Shai Hope for two. Barry McCarthy was the pick of the bowlers, taking 4/32, including the key wicket of Forde, as the tourists were bundled out for 179 in 34.1 overs.
With a 1-0 lead in the three-match series, Ireland will aim to clinch it when the teams meet again on Friday.

WATCH: Oakland Coliseum readies for cricket with MLC 2025; drop-in pitches installed

Oakland Coliseum will host the first leg of the 2025 Major League Cricket season. (Sportzpics) Major League Cricket's third season will make history on Thursday night at the Oakland Coliseum in California, marking the first top-level cricket match on the US West Coast. The San Francisco Unicorns and Washington Freedom will face off in a rematch of the 2024 final, utilising drop-in pitches transported from New York in a venue that can accommodate over 60,000 spectators. The Coliseum, which previously hosted the Oakland Athletics (MLB) and Oakland Raiders (NFL), will operate at a reduced capacity of 12,000 for cricket matches. The venue will host the first nine matches of MLC 2025, including three home fixtures for the Unicorns. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! The historic stadium, featured in the 2011 film Moneyball starring Brad Pitt, has been without permanent tenants since both professional teams relocated. The Athletics have temporarily moved to Sacramento while planning their eventual relocation to Las Vegas. The Unicorns initiated discussions with the Coliseum last year to bring cricket matches to the Bay Area. "We're going to be playing in Oakland this year and we're excited about playing in Oakland. We're still early in the process of figuring out where we'll end up permanently. The spectrum is pretty large. We can potentially play in Oakland permanently if everything goes well. We're in the process of figuring that piece out," said Unicorns co-owner Venky Harinarayan to when asked about playing in Oakland and the future. Johnny Grave, who joined as MLC chief executive after leading Cricket West Indies for seven years, has overseen the project to modify the 1966-built stadium for cricket matches. MLC: Venky Harinarayan on growing cricket in the USA, AI-driven teams and the Olympic boost "The Coliseum is a fantastic location for Major League Cricket, and we are thrilled by the prospect of some of the world's biggest cricket stars playing in such an iconic Californian venue. Coming to the West Coast, and being here in Oakland, is an historic move for cricket globally. It reinforces our commitment to growing the game in the United States and providing fans with an exceptional cricket experience," said Johnny Grave, CEO of Major League Cricket, in March. "The Oakland Coliseum has long been a destination for sports and entertainment, and we are excited to add cricket to its continuing legacy. This move underscores Oakland's status as a diverse and dynamic sports city, and we look forward to supporting the growth of cricket in our community," said Kevin Jenkins, Interim Mayor of the City of Oakland. The San Francisco Unicorns, who finished as runners-up in 2024, will play their first three home games at the Coliseum after spending two years at neutral venues. The tournament's schedule extends beyond Oakland, moving to Grand Prairie, Texas, from June 20 to 29, and concluding at Broward County Stadium, Florida, from July 1st to 6th. With 34 matches across three venues, this will be the largest professional cricket tournament ever held in the USA. Troll who got under the skin of Virat Kohli in 2011 ‘finally' suspended on X: ‘Thought Indian Courts were slow'

After nearly 14 years of trolling and taunting Virat Kohli online, the X account of a user he once publicly warned has finally been suspended — and Kohli fans are having a field day. It all began back in 2011, during the Twitter days, when Kohli called out the user, who went by the handle @Ishaan3, for allegedly using abusive language against him. 'Your account has been reported and will be deactivated soon. dont tweet if u wana use foul language(sic),' Kohli posted at the time. @ishaan3 your account has been reported and will be deactivated soon. dont tweet if u wana use foul language. — Virat Kohli (@imVkohli) December 6, 2011 But @Ishaan3 didn't just stop there. Over the years, it has made it a personal mission to poke fun at the Indian cricketer, regularly bragging that despite Kohli's warning, the account was still active. 'Still I am on Twitter bro… 5… paanch saal ho gaye,' he gloated in 2016. Four years later, he followed up with, '10 saal hogaye Kohli bhai.' Now, in a twist that's being celebrated across X, @Ishaan3 has finally been suspended. Screenshots of the suspended profile started surfacing midweek, though it's unclear exactly when the platform pulled the plug. Pure entertainment. One wrote, 'Twitter account suspended after 11 years >>>> IPL win after 18 years,' while another joked, 'The moral of the story is 'Virat bhai will take time but the work will be done'.' Someone else quipped, 'Probably they were waiting for RCB to win,' while another chimed in, 'And I thought Indian Courts were slow.' The long-running drama may be over, but the memes have just begun.

BCCI to take action after 11 killed in RCB IPL celebration stampede; decision likely on…

In the wake of the devastating stampede at Bengaluru's M. Chinnaswamy Stadium that claimed 11 lives and left 56 others injured, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to deliberate the formulation of standardized guidelines for IPL victory celebrations during its 28th Apex Council Meeting scheduled for Saturday (June 14). The tragedy occurred last Wednesday when an estimated 2.5 lakh fans flooded the stadium and its surrounding areas in an attempt to catch a glimpse of their cricketing heroes following an IPL team's title celebration. The overwhelming crowd quickly spiralled into chaos, resulting in one of the worst crowd-control failures in Indian sporting history. Acknowledging shortcomings in the handling of the celebratory event, the BCCI has now made the formulation of crowd and safety regulations for future IPL celebrations a top agenda item. 'The need for formulation of norms for IPL victory celebration will be discussed during the meeting,' a senior BCCI official confirmed to news agency PTI. Sources suggest that the guidelines may include measures to ensure public safety, such as pre-event crowd caps, mandatory coordination with local law enforcement, designated celebration zones, and ticketed or limited-access fan events. The Council is expected to consult with state associations, security experts, and IPL franchise managements to build a framework that balances fan engagement with necessary safety protocols. While the IPL celebration regulations take centre stage, the meeting will also cover several other significant governance and operational issues: The Council will reassess the mechanisms in place to combat age-fudging in junior cricket, particularly affecting the Under-16 boys and Under-15 girls categories. Tighter enforcement and digital documentation are expected to be on the table. Venues for the upcoming India–New Zealand bilateral series are also expected to be finalised, with an emphasis on logistics, weather considerations, and crowd control. A complaint by Karimnagar District Cricket Association president V. Agam Rao, alleging misuse of BCCI funds meant for infrastructure in Telangana, will be reviewed. Acting on this, BCCI Ombudsman Justice Arun Mishra has asked the Council to take 'appropriate action.' Player Conduct & Domestic Season Planning Updates to the BCCI Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials, as well as the tournament allowance policy for BCCI employees, will also be discussed. In addition, planning for the 2025–26 domestic season and training programs for umpires and match referees will feature on the agenda.
