Last Updated:
The unveiling of SRK and Kajol's bronze statue at London's Leicester Square, commemorating 30 years of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, has been postponed due to India-Pak tensions.
To commemorate 30 years of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol's blockbuster Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, the makers planned to unveil a bronze statue of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol at Leicester Square in London. The pre-anniversary celebrations were scheduled for sometime later this week. However, News18 Showsha has learnt that the event has been postponed in the wake of the increasing tensions between India and Pakistan after the horrifying terror attack in Pahalgam in April.
We have learnt that the statue unveiling event has been postponed to a later date, after the country's tense situation eases. An industry source quoted us saying, 'In keeping with the current situation and to express solidarity with the nation and its brave army, DDLJ statue launch has been postponed to a later time and date."
The DDLJ statue will join the iconic Scenes in the Square movie trail, according to a statement by the Heart of London Business Alliance. The statue will be installed on the eastern terrace outside the Odeon cinema, capturing the film's iconic pose. The statue will stand tall alongside beloved cinematic figures such as Harry Potter, Laurel & Hardy, Bugs Bunny, Gene Kelly from Singin' in the Rain, Mary Poppins, Mr Bean, Paddington, and DC superheroes Batman and Wonder Woman. It was scheduled for spring this year, ahead of the film's 30th anniversary on October 20, 2025.
'The statue is a fitting tribute to the global popularity of Bollywood and a celebration of London's rich diversity. We're in no doubt it will attract fans from all around the world to Leicester Square, the home of film and entertainment," Mark Williams, deputy chief executive at the Heart of London Business Alliance had shared in a statement.
Backed by Yash Raj Films and directed by Aditya Chopra, 1995 film DDLJ also stars Anupam Kher, Amrish Puri, Farida Jalal, Pooja Ruparel and Mandira Bedi.

This child sitting with his mother is now a famous name in Bollywood, can you recognise him? His name is...
Flipping through childhood photos is one of the most treasured memories one may have. Looking back, down memory lane and up nostalgia hill, reminiscing about the old days usually puts a smile on our faces. This is a photograph of a famous person. He used to have a close bond with his mother. Let's see who this person is. The Bollywood's King Here we are talking about none other than Shah Rukh Khan, who aspired to be an actor and, with his mother's belief in him, accomplished his dream and became the unstoppable King Khan. Fueled by his desire, he completed school, college, and the National School of Drama before ultimately stepping into the world to seize the reins and govern it. A Close Bond with Mother That Became a Pillar Shah Rukh Khan faced a tragic loss when he lost his father, Meer Taj Mohammed Khan, at just 14 years old. His mother, Lateef Fatima Khan, became his sole guardian and the center of his world, providing unwavering support as he grew up. In an interview with Stardust, SRK shared how his mother's unconditional support helped him move through life's challenges. 'My mother was always incredibly proud of me. In her eyes, I was the best, and I started to believe that. She made me feel that way. But after she passed away, I suddenly realized I wasn't the best after all. I was just a nobody. It was her biggest dream to see me on the big screen. She sacrificed so much for me, and no one else on this earth would have done as much… I was still quite young when my father died, and I didn't shed a tear then. But when my mother passed, that's when I really broke down. It was such a strange and emotional experience… I still can't fully process it… I might start crying just thinking about it…' When Shah Rukh Lost His Strongest Pillar In 1991, Shah Rukh featured on Simi Garewal's popular chat show Rendezvous with Simi Garewal, where he spoke about his mother's demise and how it broke him completely. He said, 'My mother died shortly after the release of my debut serial, Circus. In the ICU, she sat up with a blank expression on her face. She was a gorgeous woman. I told Mummy that you would be fine, and you would be okay for me. I'm going to do films. My serial (Circus) is coming soon. That night, the doctor arrived and said, 'Woh tumhari mummy ko saans chadh rahi hai, humein nahin maloom abhi kya karna hai.' He asked that I have some injections. I traveled throughout Delhi… I could not get them… I had just four and the doctor wanted twenty.'

R Madhavan Says Pee Scene In Shaitaan Made Him Uncomfortable: ‘Had To Make It Disgusting'
Last Updated: R Madhavan says he felt deeply uncomfortable filming the urination scene in Shaitaan and reveals how he used a blanket to avoid looking and change the tone. R. Madhavan, who chillingly portrayed the antagonist in the psychological horror hit Shaitaan, recently opened up about the emotional and psychological toll of certain intense scenes from the film. In a new promotional interaction with Kajol for her upcoming horror film Maa, Madhavan reflected on one particular moment that left him deeply unsettled on set. The conversation, shared by JioStudios on YouTube, saw Kajol asking Madhavan if there were any scenes in Shaitaan that felt too disturbing or realistic to perform. Madhavan candidly responded, referencing a scene in which his character forces his on-screen daughter to dance all night, resulting in her wetting herself out of sheer physical strain. 'It was a very sensitive scene," Madhavan said. 'There's this moment where I make my daughter dance through the night. She reaches a point where she can't hold it anymore and urinates. In the original version of the film, the approach to the scene was different. But here, I realized that even as a villain, if I looked at her during that moment, it would send out a completely different message. I needed the audience to feel disgust—not pity or justification." Madhavan explained how he changed his physical performance to reflect that discomfort. 'So, I wrapped myself in a blanket, deliberately avoiding looking at her. That decision not only worked for the character but gave me relief as an actor. I could step away emotionally while still staying true to the role. I simply tell the mother, 'Can you go help your daughter?'" He further added, 'There were many such moments during filming that made me deeply uncomfortable. But I had to find ways to stay authentic while protecting myself emotionally." Shaitaan, directed by Vikas Bahl, is the Hindi adaptation of the 2023 Gujarati film Vash. It stars Ajay Devgn, Jyotika, and Janki Bodiwala alongside Madhavan in a dark and sinister role. The film, which follows a family held hostage by a mysterious man who exerts mind control over their daughter, was both a critical and commercial success, grossing over ₹100 crore at the Indian box office. Madhavan's raw honesty adds another layer to a performance that was already haunting—showing how even seasoned actors have to wrestle with the moral and emotional weight of their roles, especially in films that tread psychological depths.
