Tanzania trains 800 tourist vehicle drivers ahead of peak season
DAR ES SALAAM, May 30 (Xinhua) -- Tanzanian traffic police in the northern tourism hub of Arusha have provided specialized training to more than 800 tourist vehicle drivers in preparation for the upcoming tourism peak season, which officially begins in June.
Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police William Mkonda said on Friday that the initiative is designed to improve drivers' professional capacity and ensure the safety and quality of transport services offered to tourists.
"Tourist vehicle drivers are essential in shaping Tanzania's global image," Mkonda said. "By adhering to traffic regulations and conducting themselves professionally, these drivers can serve as safety ambassadors and help boost tourist arrivals."
Lembrisi Moses, chairman of the Tanzania Tour Guides Association, noted that the program reinforced drivers' knowledge of road signs, speed limits, and their responsibility to protect passengers.
"This training is a crucial step in promoting both safety and service excellence in Tanzania's tourism industry," Moses added.

According to Lin, China will issue the corresponding category of "ASEAN Visa" for business personnel from the 11 countries, as well as their spouses and children, who meet the requirements. The visa will allow multiple entries within five years and a maximum stay period of 180 days. In recent years, the building of the China-ASEAN community with a shared future has been continuously advanced, and important achievements have been made in jointly building a common home that features peace, tranquility, prosperity, a beautiful environment, and friendship, Lin noted. Noting that China and Southeast Asian countries have frequent personnel exchanges, Lin said further facilitating personnel exchanges is a common aspiration for both sides.

A total of 43,193 Chinese visitors visited Angkor during the January-May period, up 30 per cent from 33,292 over the same period last year, said the state-owned Angkor Enterprise's report. China was the fourth largest source of international tourist arrivals to Angkor after the United States, the United Kingdom, and France, it added. According to the report, a total of 527,577 foreigners from 171 countries and regions toured the ancient park in the first five months of this year, generating a gross revenue of US$24.5 million from ticket sales.
