WE is reportedly cracking down on foul language at its televised events, with a serious message for fans attending RAW, NXT, and SmackDown tapings - keep it clean or risk removal.
The move has stirred debate among fans, many of whom feel their passion is being policed.
WWE gets serious about broadcast-friendly crowds
During a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, veteran journalist Dave Meltzer revealed that WWE has internally discussed addressing live audiences about toning down their language. 'It's a TV show going all over the world,' Meltzer said. 'They want fans to have fun, but not swear.'
While such a message would have backfired in previous eras, Meltzer believes today's WWE audience is more understanding.
'I think they might be okay with it,' he noted, suggesting the company is counting on a more mature fan base to comply voluntarily.
But that may no longer be a mere suggestion. Reports from Fightful Select confirm that WWE has already begun enforcing this policy, particularly at NXT tapings held at the Performance Center in Orlando. Fans have been warned not to swear, with repeat offenders threatened with removal from the venue.
So far, no actual ejections have been reported.
The clampdown comes as WWE prepares for a broader TV presence, with NXT set to debut on The CW Network later this year. A cleaner audience presentation is likely part of that transition.
Fans slam WWE's new policy
The response from the WWE Universe has been mixed. While some fans see the move as necessary for global broadcasts, others argue it diminishes the authenticity of the live experience.
One user on X wrote, 'Asking grown adults not to swear like they are children…what is wrong with that company?' Another added, 'Even during the PG era, Vince McMahon never told crowds to censor themselves.'
Others voiced concerns about the show's atmosphere. 'Trying to watch it when they mute the crowd every time someone chants 'Holy sh*t' is worse,' a fan noted.
There's also a growing sentiment that such policies could drive passionate fans toward rival promotions like AEW, which offers a more unfiltered crowd experience. 'Time to head over to AEW. They wouldn't do that to ya,' one post read.
As WWE tightens its grip on live crowd behavior, the balancing act between global brand image and fan spontaneity enters a new chapter - one where the next chant might be quieter, but the controversy is anything but.

The wrestling world stands in shock after Ron Killings – famously known by his ring name R-Truth – was released by World Wrestling Entertainment on Sunday, June 1. The veteran wrestler announced his emotional departure from the WWE scene after an incredible 17-year run with the company. R-Truth confirmed his adieu via a statement on social media and expressed gratitude towards fans for their unwavering support. 'I want to thank WWE for the ride, but MOSTLY I want to thank each and EVERYONE OF YOU who was along for the ride," he posted. 'Thank you for all the love, support, and appreciation you have given me over the years." Im sorry to inform you all. I just got released from WWE. A report by Uncrowned further suggested Ron Killings had decided not to extend his association, offering a clear distinction on the nature of his departure amidst speculations of a rift leading to an abrupt ending. A clash with JC Mateo at last Friday's SmackDown will be remembered as R-Truth's WWE swansong, marking his final ring appearance for the company. The stalwart also recently fought against WWE legend John Cena during Saturday Night's Main Event on May 25, a match that would now be counted as part of a befitting send-off. R-Truth joined World Wrestling Entertainment in 1999 for an initial stint that lasted two years. The wrestler found notable success outside, winning the world championship gold in NWA while also enjoying his time in TNA. But it was upon his return to the WWE scene in 2007 that he bagged his most memorable achievements. R-Truth won the United States Championship twice and won Tag-Team titles with Kofi Kingston and the Miz. Maximising his character, whose comic timing and charisma made waves, WWE even introduced a 24/7 Championship. R Truth holds the record for winning this belt 54 times during his career. IPL 2025 final: RCB and Kohli's 18-year wait meets Punjab's fire as league awaits a new champion

Eighteen seasons. No title. For Virat Kohli and Royal Challengers Bengaluru , the wait has been long, emotional, and often cruel. On Tuesday night, they get another shot at redemption, this time against a determined Punjab Kings side led by Shreyas Iyer , in what will be a historic IPL final where a first-time champion is guaranteed. The grand finale at the Narendra Modi Stadium won't just be about who lifts the trophy, it could also be Kohli's final outing for a while. Having stepped away from Test cricket and with India's next white-ball assignment months away, fans are expected to flood the stands in their No.18 jerseys, hoping to see their hero finish the season with silverware. RCB have reached the final thrice before, in 2009, 2011 and 2016, only to fall short. But this season, they've looked like a team with purpose. From a dominant league stage to a ruthless eight-wicket win over Punjab in Qualifier 1, they've finally found the balance that eluded them for years. Phil Salt's explosive starts, Rajat Patidar's consistency, and the contributions of Mayank Agarwal and Jitesh Sharma have given RCB the depth they previously lacked. Whether Tim David returns to bolster the finishing alongside Romario Shepherd remains to be seen. Live Events Josh Hazlewood has anchored the bowling attack with typical calm, picking up 21 wickets and emerging as the tournament's fourth-highest wicket-taker. He'll be key again on a surface that's offered some assistance to the pacers under lights. Punjab Kings, meanwhile, have staged one of the most remarkable turnarounds in IPL history. Perennial underachievers, they've come alive this season under Iyer and coach Ricky Ponting, finishing second in the league and booking a place in their first final in 11 years. After being thrashed by RCB in the first qualifier, they responded in style, knocking out five-time champions Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2 with a clinical performance. Iyer, who has now taken Delhi, Kolkata, and Punjab to IPL finals, has amassed 603 runs and proved once again why he's one of the most effective leaders in T20 cricket. Yuzvendra Chahal, not fully fit, will be under the scanner as he takes on his former side. But Punjab will bank on collective grit over individual brilliance. With no rain in the forecast and a reserve day and extra time in place, the stage is set for a full contest. One team will finally shed the 'never-won-it' tag. For Kohli and Iyer , it's not just about history, it's personal.
