Pinpoint Weather: Cool conditions with rain chances into the new week
ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Tonight will again be chilly with lows in the 40s for most with partly cloudy skies. Heading into Sunday, we'll see mostly cloudy to partly sunny skies with temperatures remaining on the cooler side ranging from the mid 60s to lower 70s.
There will be the chance for a few passing showers in the afternoon to evening, mainly along and south of US-460. Widely scattered showers will be possible areawide into the overnight hours into the early morning; although, any rain will likely be light.
Over Memorial Day, mostly cloudy skies will be present with cool conditions as high temperatures only reach the mid-to-upper 60s. In terms of rain, we have trended drier with only a small chance for a few showers. Most of the area should remain on the dry side.
A low-pressure system begins to develop off to our west and will bring widespread rain showers and a few storms beginning Tuesday into Wednesday. Heavy rain at times may be possible, especially Tuesday night.
Surface high pressure off to the northeast will begin to wedge a cool and cloudy airmass into southwest Virginia late Monday through Tuesday. This means that in addition to the rain on Tuesday, it will remain cool with high temperatures only reaching the upper 50s to mid 60s.
Over the back half of the week, isolated showers and storms will remain possible during the afternoons with temperatures warming back up into the 70s.
