UFC 316 will showcase two big title fights on June 7 when the promotion returns to Newark, New Jersey.
The UFC announced Tuesday that reigning bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili will headline the event in a rematch with Sean O'Malley at the Prudential Center. In the co-main event, the women's bantamweight crown will also be on the line when Julianna Peña begins her second title reign with a defense against Kayla Harrison.

Dvalishvili and O'Malley first met at UFC 306 in September 2024, as the featured attraction atop the famous "one-and-only" UFC event in the Las Vegas Sphere. Dvalishvili won the fight and seized the 135-pound belt, utilizing his strong grappling game to stifle O'Malley en route to a unanimous decision win that ended O'Malley's short title reign.
Dvalishvili has fought once since then, earning another unanimous decision nod over challenger Umar Nurmagomedov at UFC 311 this past January. Meanwhile, O'Malley's been relatively silent and has stayed largely out of the public spotlight since his loss. This will be his first time back in the cage since dropping the title to Dvalishvili in September.

Pena and Harrison have also been absent from competition since they defeated separate opponents at UFC 307 in October 2024. The now two-time champion Pena recaptured the women's 135-pound title in the co-main event that night with a split-decision over Raquel Pennington. The former Olympic gold medalist and PFL champion Harrison picked up her second straight UFC win with a unanimous decision against Ketlen Vieira on the same fight card.

Outside of UFC 316's big headliner announcements, the promotion also announced a change to the UFC Kansas City lineup on April 26. The original main event between light heavyweight contenders Jamahal Hill and Khalil Rountree Jr. is now off, clearing the lane for a collisions of welterweight contenders Ian Machado Garry and Carlos Prates.
Prates was scheduled to fight Geoff Neal at UFC 314 in Miami on April 12, but Neal suffered an injury this past week and was forced to withdraw. A victory for Prates would extend his winning streak to 12 straight fights (five in UFC), while Garry hopes to return to the win column after suffering his first career loss against Shavkat Rakhmonov this past December.

Biles Issues Public Apology
Olympian Simone Biles apologized to Riley Gaines. I'm Tomi Lahren, more next. Well this feud could possibly end on a high note, after all. Olympic gymnast Simone Biles did the right thing and publicly apologized to Riley Gaines for body shaming her AND even somewhat acknowledged that the current system of biological men competing in women's sports doesn't adequately balance competitive equity. Biles did stop short of defending the integrity of women's sports and spaces, which is regrettable. However, the public apology and accountability was a refreshing change of pace. For her part, Gaines accepted the apology and warmly invited Biles to join the fight to protect women's sports. Look, it would've been great to see Biles commit to the fight for fairness and use her incredible platform to advance it, but I am happy to see this feud end. Biles is no doubt a role model for girls and young women, I was taken aback at her initial behavior and especially her body shaming digs. It takes a lot of courage to publicly own that and say sorry. For that, I'll give her credit. It took grace. I'm Tomi Lahren and you watch my show 'Tomi Lahren is Fearless' at Learn more about your ad choices. Visit

Olympic gold medalist Sarah Hildebrandt leads new Real American Freestyle wrestling signees
Olympic gold medalist Sarah Hildebrandt headlines a group of four women who have signed with Real American Freestyle wrestling. Hildebrandt became the fourth American woman to win a gold medal in Olympic wrestling when she defeated Yusneylis Guzman Lopez of Cuba in the 50-kilogram final last year in Paris. Other signees the new company announced Thursday are Olympic silver medalist Lucía 'Jami' Yepez Guzman, Audrey Jimenez and Zeltin Hernandez Guerra. They join Kennedy Blades, a silver medalist for the United States at the Paris Olympics, as the anchors of the women's division. 'Real American Freestyle was created to trailblaze, and these incredible women joining our roster are a critical part of that,' RAF commissioner Hulk Hogan said in a statement. Yepez Guzman, who is from Ecuador, was a silver medalist at the Paris Olympics. She also won gold at the 2023 Pan American Games, the 2021 Junior Pan American Games and the 2021 U23 World Wrestling Championships. Jimenez, 19, was a U.S. Olympic Trials runner-up. She was the first female to win an Arizona state championship in the boys division. She won the 2025 Senior Pan American Championships at 50 kilograms last month, with a win over Guzman Lopez in the semifinals. Hernandez Guerra is a Mexican who won gold at the U23 Pan American Championships last year. Real American Freestyle events will feature matches at eight men's and four women's weight classes. The first is scheduled for Aug. 30 in Cleveland, with other sites to be named in the coming months. ___ AP sports:

Kris Moutinho opens up on dark time after UFC release: I was close to 'ending it all'
ATLANTA – Kris Moutinho had very dark thoughts after his original stint in the UFC ended. Moutinho (14-6 MMA, 0-2 UFC) made his UFC debut on short notice against former bantamweight champion Sean O'Malley in July 2021. He lost the fight by third-round TKO at UFC 264 but earned a Fight of the Night bonus for his effort, which made him a fan favorte. But Moutinho would receive his walking papers after getting finished by Guido Cannetti in the first round at UFC Fight Night 203. That's when things took a really bad turn for the 32-year-old. Advertisement "I went through a really bad time with relationships, with everything else," Moutinho told MMA Junkie and other reporters during Wednesday's UFC on ESPN 69 media day. "My life was just a mess. I was very close to ending this thing, ending it all and being done. "I don't want to talk too much about it, but it was a bad time, one of the worst times in my life. I found the girl I'm with now, my beautiful girlfriend. She saved me, saved my life, helped me find God a lot better, and I'm just in a better place." Moutinho has been given a second chance in the UFC after putting together a five-fight winning streak. However, the opportunity will come on short notice once again, and it'll be against undefeated Malcolm Wellmaker (9-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) on Saturday's UFC on ESPN 69 (ESPN, ESPN+) prelims at State Farm Arena. Despite the far-from-ideal circumstances, Moutinho insists he's at peace. Advertisement "I feel like I'm where God put me, where I'm supposed to be," Moutinho said. "I feel like this is the guy that should have been here in 2021, the guy that is mentally focused, enjoys this stuff again. Then, I was just kind of going through the motions, and I was happy to be here, but I was kind of just happy to be here. I'm not that guy no more. I don't care. I'm coming to kill. I'm coming to knock him out. He has to kill me to get me out of there." This article originally appeared on MMA Junkie: UFC fighter admits to having suicidal thoughts after release in 2022
