It further stated, 'This team will oversee the trial and all related proceedings concerning the NIA case before the Special Courts in Delhi, the High Court of Delhi and the Supreme Court of India.'
In the notification, the MHA added that the appointed law officers' tenure 'will extend for three years from the publication date of this notification or until the completion of the trial, whichever occurs first', under the terms and conditions outlined in the Department of Legal Affairs' notification.
On May 9, Tahawwur Rana, a key conspirator in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, was presented before the Patiala House Court from NIA remand a day earlier than the scheduled date due to security concerns, and the Special Court has ordered his judicial custody until June 6, 2025.
Rana, a 64-year-old Canadian businessman of Pakistani origin, was extradited from the United States earlier this month in connection with his alleged role in the deadly 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks in 2008.

During that interaction, PM Modi reaffirmed India's support for the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of Cyprus. Foreign policy watchers see this as a potential opportunity to reinforce ties, particularly as Cyprus has consistently supported India, including in the aftermath of the recent Pahalgam terror attack, which it raised during an EU meeting. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar also held a conversation with his Cypriot counterpart following the incident. The last high-level exchange between the two countries occurred in 2017, when the then President of Cyprus visited India. Cyprus has previously sought India's assistance in resolving its four-decade-long territorial dispute, making any high-level engagement diplomatically notable. Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai promoted as deputy Chief of Army Staff
Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai has been elevated to the post of Deputy Chief of Army Staff (Strategy), a role under which all operational verticals of the Indian Army report to the Deputy Chief of Army Staff (Security), news agency ANI reported. He will also continue to serve as the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO). Last week, Lt Gen Ghai, a key figure in military briefings on Operation Sindoor, was awarded the Uttam Yudh Seva Medal (UYSM) by President Droupadi Murmu. He led military operations for Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, in retaliation for the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 people. The operation targeted nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. At a press conference on May 11, Lt Gen Ghai revealed that his Pakistani counterpart had proposed a ceasefire during an interaction on May 10, which led to both sides agreeing to halt hostilities. Clarifying media reports, the Indian Army later stated that the ceasefire agreed upon in the DGMO talks on May 12 has no expiry date. 'No DGMO talks are scheduled today. Espionage case: Hisar court extends social media influencer's judicial custody
Hisar, A local court on Monday extended the judicial custody of social media influencer Jyoti Malhotra and fixed her case's hearing on June 23. The 33-year-old YouTuber appeared before the court of Hisar Judicial Magistrate Sunil Kumar through video conferencing on Monday which extended her judicial custody by two weeks. "The court has extended her judicial custody and fixed June 23 for the next hearing in this case," her lawyer Kumar Mukesh said. Hisar Police arrested Malhotra on suspicion of espionage on May 16. She was subsequently remanded to five days of police custody by the court. Following the completion of the remand, the court extended it by four more days on the police's plea for further questioning. On May 26, the court remanded her to judicial custody for 14 days. Malhotra, who hails from the city, ran a YouTube channel "Travel with JO". She was arrested at the New Aggarsain Extension and booked under provisions of the Official Secrets Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Hisar Police previously said no evidence had emerged to indicate Malhotra had access to any military- or defence-related information but claimed she was in contact with some people, aware that they were Pakistani Intelligence Operatives . Police sources said she was in touch with Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, a staffer at the Pakistani High Commission, since November 2023. India expelled Danish on May 13 for allegedly indulging in espionage. The police have claimed Pakistani intelligence operatives were developing Malhotra as an asset. Punjab Police recently said Punjab-based YouTuber Jasbir Singh, who was arrested on espionage charges on June 4, was in close contact with Malhotra. Singh, who was found to be associated with a PIO, was in touch with a Pakistan High Commission official who was recently expelled from New Delhi on charges of spying and had met Pakistan Army officials during one of his three visits to the neighbouring country, Punjab Police said previously. After Malhotra's arrest, Singh attempted to erase all traces of his communications with these PIOs to avoid detection, Punjab Police added.
