Twins found shot to death on Bell Mountain in Towns Co., GBI investigating
HIAWSSEE, Ga. (WJBF) – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is assisting the Towns County Sheriff's Office with a death investigation on Bell Mountain in Hiawassee, Georgia.
Hikers found two men dead at the top of Bell Mountain.
The men were identified as twin brothers, Qaadir Malik Lewis and Naazir Rahim Lewis, both 19, of Lawrenceville, Gwinnett County, Georgia.
On Saturday, March 8, 2025, at about 11:05 a.m., the Towns County 911 Center received notification that two people were found dead at the top of Bell Mountain.
The GBI was requested by the Towns County Sheriff's Office shortly after the discovery.
Both men were found with gunshot wounds.
The preliminary investigation reveals the deaths to be a murder suicide.
A GBI medical examiner has completed the autopsies, but the official ME ruling and results are pending additional forensic tests.
A GoFundMe has been created by the victims' family to help with burial expenses.
Qaadir and Naazir aunt strated the account and made the following statement:
I am the aunt of the twins Qaadir and Naazir that was found deceased on top of Bell Mountain in Georgia. In recents new reports, it was claimed that they took their own lives. My nephews wouldn't do this! They came from a family of love, and twins wanted so much for their future, they had dreams of starting their very own clothing line. Unfortunately Something happened at Bell mountain that ended the lives of 19 year old Qaadir and Naazir, which needs to be further investigated. We need your support to share their story and to help raise the funds for their Funeral/Memorial for the twins. Anything you donate will be appreciated ♥️
The goal was to raise $20,000, at last check over $22,500 had been donated.

Nearly $50,000 has been raised through a GoFundMe campaign started for Tracy's family following the fatal incident. Tosha Nichols, who organized the campaign, said the late mom leaves behind her husband, Larry, and four 'beautiful children' between the ages of 2 months and 7 years, according to Nichols. 'She was so caring and generous, outgoing, and loved her family and her friends with her whole heart,' Nichols wrote. 'If you have ever met Linda, you know she was one of the most beautiful people you have ever met with a heart of gold and a beautiful soul.' She later added, 'You will be forever missed and never forgotten, Linda ❤️.' In a statement to KCRA-TV, Tracy's family said the late mom was a graduate of Sacramento State College and C.K. McClatchy High School who 'built a successful career in IT across multiple agencies of the State of California.' Edson Vandeira, a Brazilian national, went missing along with two Peruvians while climbing the demanding Artesonraju Mountain on June 1 as part of a technical expedition. "In the early hours of the rescue, the team's tent was found empty. There are signs that the group had reached the summit and that something serious had possibly happened during the descent," reads a GoFundMe launched by Natalia Mossmann Koch. Koch is Vandeira's ex-wife and a University of Minnesota associate who lives in St. Paul. She says they were married for nine years, four of which were spent in the U.S., and that he is an experienced climber. Family of twins found dead on Bell Mountain dispute findings, says they were killed
The family of twins Qaadir Malik Lewis and Naazir Rahim Lewis are holding a news conference Friday morning laying out what they say are facts of the twins' disappearance and deaths. The bodies of the Lewis twins were found in Towns County on Bell Mountain in early March. While the deaths were eventually ruled a double-suicide by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the Lewis family is calling it a 'lynching.' [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] On Friday, the family and their legal representatives are demanding justice for the two 19-year-olds. According to the announcement sent by attorneys for the Lewis Family, they want to 'dispel information and present the facts,' while calling for a new, 'thorough, transparent investigation' and calling for accountability for those responsible. The family is joined at the briefing in Lawrenceville by members of the NAACP Georgia State Conference an the NAACP Gwinnett County Branch, as well as community advocates and supporters. The GBI said they determined the method of the deaths based on the medical examiner's autopsy of the twins and other investigative findings, which agents shared with the Lewis family in May. In part, the GBI said cellular location data helped establish a timeline of when the Lewis twins left their home in Gwinnett County to go to Bell Mountain, and that while Naazir Lewis went to the airport on March 7, and had a ticket, 'he never caught the flight and returned home.' Additionally, the GBI said records show that Naazir Lewis bought ammunition for the gun used, which was delivered to their home in Gwinnett County on March 5. The GBI said internet search history from both of the twins' phones showed searches for how to load a gun, suicide rates in 2024 and related searches. Forensic evidence showed both twins fired a gun, according to the GBI, and a comprehensive investigation indicated the injures were self-inflicted.
