China's Changan opens first overseas car plant in Thailand
RAYONG, Thailand -- Chinese state-owned Changan Automobile said on Friday that it has started production at its plant in Thailand, underscoring how carmakers from the world's No. 2 economy are accelerating into the Southeast Asian manufacturing hub.
The company's first overseas factory, in the city of Rayong in Thailand's Eastern Economic Corridor industrial zone, has an annual capacity of 100,000 units and will churn out vehicles including electric cars for both the local market and export.

Suzuki halts production of Swift over China's rare earth export curbs
Suzuki Motor Corp has halted production of its flagship Swift compact hatchback due to China's export restrictions on rare-earth elements, sources close to the matter said, marking the first suspension by a Japanese automaker tied to the curbs.
