Motorcyclist, 18, killed in collision with Boynton Fire Rescue truck
BOYNTON BEACH — An 18-year-old Boynton Beach man was killed Saturday night when his motorcycle collided with a Boynton Beach Fire Rescue truck at a city intersection, police said Sunday.
Jacob M. Chalmers was riding a 2023 Vitacci XMT 250 with a 13-year-old boy from Belle Glade southbound in the 1300 block of South Congress Avenue just before 7:30 p.m. Saturday, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said in a report. At the same time, a northbound Boynton Beach Fire-Rescue truck, with lights and sirens on, was attempting to make a left turn into the Boynton Beach Professional Center at 1325 S. Congress Ave.
As the truck, a 2018 Freightliner, made its turn, Chalmers' motorcycle collided with the passenger side of the truck, ejecting Chalmers and the 13-year-old, throwing them into the center lane of the southbound lanes of the road, deputies said. Chalmers was not wearing a helmet, but his passenger was, the report said.
The fire truck, which was driven by a 27-year-old Boynton Beach man, came to an immediate stop inside the professional center entrance. Neither the driver nor his two passengers sustained any injuries, deputies said. The address for all three men is at Fire Rescue Station 2, according to the report.
Chalmers was pronounced dead at the scene, and his passenger was taken to Delray Medical Center, where he was in critical condition Sunday, deputies said.

Former Royal Palm Beach High employee pleads guilty to sex charge involving student
ROYAL PALM BEACH — A former Royal Palm Beach High School non-instructional employee pleaded guilty June 6 to unlawful sexual contact with a minor and was sentenced to 10 years in prison, with a chance to serve less time if he meets certain conditions. Circuit Judge Caroline Shepherd agreed to mitigate Jordan Augustine's sentence to two years followed by three years of sex-offender probation if Augustine surrenders to the court June 27 without committing any new law violations before then. Augustine, 31, a former behavioral health specialist at Royal Palm Beach High, pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful sexual activity with a minor by an authority figure of a school. He was arrested in April 2024 after Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office investigators alleged that he had sexual contact with a student who was under age 18 at the time. More: State Attorney arrests seven West Palm Beach police officers for roles in fatal Boynton chase Investigators said the unlawful contact occurred off campus after Augustine and the student communicated via the social-media platform Instagram. The student, a 17-year-old girl, described to investigators having one sexual encounter with Augustine, who was 30 at the time. Following his arrest, Augustine was placed on administrative leave, and then-Principal Michelle Fleming informed parents and staff that he would not be returning to the campus. Assistant State Attorney Nicole Corring told the court the victim and her guardian supported the plea, with their main concern being that Augustine be required to register as a sex offender and no longer have the opportunity to work with children. Shepherd issued an order declaring Augustine a sex offender. The age of consent for sexual activity in Florida is 18. A person who is 16 or 17 can consent to sexual activity with another person who is no older than 24, according to Florida law.
