Lapointe's NYFW show scores Monica, Jordyn Woods plus full court Beyoncé dance routine
NEW YORK — Lapointe leaned into sports and court side dressing on Super Bowl Sunday, hours before kickoff – and for an entirely different sport.
For the brand's 15th anniversary show during New York Fashion Week, the NBA's National Basketball Players Association practice court in midtown Manhattan was the backdrop for a WAG (Jordyn Woods), some "Real Housewives" (Meredith Marks of "Salt Lake City" and Jessel Taank of "New York City") and fur coats primed for a tunnel look (singer Monica and celebrity stylist Law Roach) to take in a game of fashion.
Monica geared up for the show in a luxuriously plush, floor-length fur coat atop a monochromatic milk chocolate brown matching set of pants, top and jacket. Roach, known for styling A-list clients like Zendaya and Celine Dion, styled himself for courtside chic with a knee-length fur over a merlot sweater and silky pants in the same hue, an extra large Bottega Veneta woven leather clutch and oversized Chanel sunglasses as the finishing touches.
Woods, who's dating NBA star Karl-Anthony Towns (who recently got traded from the Minnesota Timberwolves to the New York Knicks), opted for a high-neck, long-sleeved forest green dress with feather detailing on the skirt and a thigh-high slit. Marks donned a silver gown, while Taank went daring in a dangerously low-cut dress with side cutouts and a sequined fringe skirt, topped with a matching black blazer with fur lapels.
If the fashion on the sidelines wasn't enough to hype up attendees, a lively dance performance to kick off the runway show did the trick. As a marching band soundtrack and the sounds of whistles filled the room, a dance troupe comprised of all young, Black girls dressed in hot pink, feathered outfits commanded center court, hitting an energetic routine to Beyoncé's song "My House," high kicking and death dropping as feathers flew into the air and the first model hit the runway.

Models strutted out in pieces that perfectly illustrate the brand's ethos: high-impact and dynamic with a sense of luxe whimsy. Sequined skinny pants and a matching tie-waist jacket with a feathered collar and sheer train was the first look down the runway, followed up by colorful animal prints, vinyl coats, jolts of hot pink and tennis ball yellow-green, and feathers and fur all over.
The pièce de résistance: glimmering mini basketball-shaped purses in gold, silver and black varieties, crystalized and perfect for your next trip to a basketball arena (or when you're dreaming of being on the arm of an NBA or WNBA player).
The collection marked a pivotal anniversary moment for designers Sally LaPointe and Sarah Adelson, who started the brand in 2008. The ever-fickle fashion industry doesn't always allow for brands to flourish, let alone last, and the show was a slam dunk.

Brooks has now filed for a restraining order against Heather Andrews, the mother of his children, according to TMZ . He claims that he started dating Andrews back in 2018 after meeting her in Las Vegas. The courtship moved fast, and within months, she was pregnant with their first child, which is when he says the harassment started. He even alleges that she'd send him 'emotionally abusive' messages, only to send screenshots of his response to gossip blogs to paint him as the bad guy. But he proceeded to ignore the red flags and had a second child with her, and she became 'increasingly more aggressive and threatening.' In the lawsuit, he includes alleged screenshots of the violent threats she sent him, including an attempt to end his NBA career. 'I'll habe [sic] someone cut each one of your f-cking little fingers off one by one… So you can never play basketball LOL… And actually now I understand why people are racist.' In her purported texts, she also threatened to hurt his mother, and while a member of the Memphis Grizzlies, she vandalized his home. 'You suck b-tch,' she wrote on his outdoor fireplace mantle alongside his No. 44 jersey number. He added that she tried to further paint him as the aggressor by hacking into his account on the coparenting app Our Parenting Wizard and sending herself threatening messages. This is only the most recent happenings in their relationship falling apart since last year, when she filed for a restraining order against him, alleging similar threatening and harassment tactics. Somehow, within the serious allegations, Drake's name has been invoked on social media. The Canadian rapper name-dropped Brooks, his countryman, on the 2023 song 'Just Another Late Night,' even mentioning the finger-removing threat. ' Shawty rinsin' Dillon Brooks, can't believe this n-gga talkin', ' he raps and a few bars later says , ' Or send a finger to your mama in some FedEx boxes .' Riley Burruss Is Ready For Her Spotlight – And She's Doing It Her Way
Source: Next Gen NYC / other I first met Riley Burruss during New York Fashion Week – fitting, considering how effortlessly she's stepping into her own fashion sense and TV personality. We were at the Sergio Hudson show, where the energy was high, the outfits were bold, and the celebrity style was a moment. But Riley stood out – not just because I had seen her alongside her mother on the Real Housewives of Atlanta and knew of her new show. But because of how she carried herself. The Atlanta native was soft-spoken yet stylish, grounded but glowing. Speed up to now – and our recent virtual conversation – Riley remains the same. As she signed onto Zoom, she greeted me with a warm smile and impeccable glam. The 22-year-old wore long dark boho braids styled with blonde highlights (a prelude to her upcoming vacation in Jamaica, she told me), flawless brows, and a natural dewy makeup look that could easily live on a Pinterest board. Riley was deeply personable during our conversation, measured, and sweet. That exact grounded nature makes her reality TV presence on Next Gen NYC feel so refreshing. She is on screen on her terms. 'I'm not used to doing it so often because, of course, I only filmed with my mom, so I didn't have to do it as much as her. 'My mom always just wants me to be true to myself and not to do anything fake for cameras or anyone else,' she shared when asked how (and if) her mother, Kandi, shaped her new chapter. .'She didn't give me too much advice — she wanted me to figure it out on my own.' Growing up in the public eye hasn't always been easy, but Riley has turned her experience into a foundation of self-worth. 'I think since I've been in the public eye for a really long time, I've grown thicker skin,' she said. 'It doesn't matter what other people think about how I look. It matters if I feel comfortable with my skin and how I look — and that's really what I've been prioritizing.' That kind of confidence extends to her hair and beauty style, too. While she's currently loving her vacation-ready braids, her go-to look remains her short, black afro — a style she wears with pride. 'I don't usually get braids because, of course, they take so long to do,' she added with a knowing smirk. And when it comes to her beauty routine? Riley is a self-proclaimed product junkie. 'I have drawers and drawers full of products,' she laughed. She added that she loves Korean skincare, smoothing serums, and lotions. Riley says having a good lip gloss is a must. And of course, art is always close. 'Art is very therapeutic to me — it helps me calm down and have a moment.' As she continues to make her mark in fashion, television, and beyond, Riley Burruss is proving that growing up in front of the cameras doesn't mean you can't define yourself on your own terms.
