Gary Sinise stepped away from the acting portion of his life half a decade ago, but he hasn't been relaxing ever since. He walked away from TV and film to help care for several family members who became seriously ill at the same time, putting his love for them over his hugely successful career.
His wife, Moira, was battling breast cancer, while their son, Mac, was diagnosed with chordoma, a rare bone cancer that affects the spine. While Moira beat her disease, Mac sadly passed away in early 2024. Now, more than a year after that tragedy, his father wants to ensure that the art his musician child left behind is heard by a wide audience — and it seems that his efforts are working.
Gary Sinise took part in a People magazine feature in which he opened up about the struggles his family has faced, the passing of his son Mac, but, more importantly, the music he made during his lifetime. Mac worked for Sinise's nonprofit the Gary Sinise Foundation, where he created music for various promotional videos. He also composed his own music under his own name, but didn't have a chance to properly share it with the world before he passed – but not his father is working to rectify that.
Mac Sinise currently claims two of the top 10 bestselling albums in America on iTunes. The musician soars more than 100 spots to No. 6 with Resurrection and Revival. Just a few spots below sits its sequel, Resurrection and Revival Part 2, which debuts at No. 9. Both versions of Resurrection and Revival were actually released in 2024, but they have only now become bestsellers – seemingly thanks to the People story, which means that Gary's efforts have been successful in getting the world to hear his son's music.
Mac Sinise's performance on iTunes is especially notable, as his albums surge during a competitive week for new releases in the U.S. He appears inside the top 10 on the list of top-selling projects alongside superstar names like Morgan Wallen, Sleep Token, Blake Shelton, Jelly Roll, as well as two versions of BTS star Jin's latest solo EP, Echo.

Hunter Goodman homers twice as Rockies beat Marlins 6-4 to end 8-game losing streak
MIAMI (AP) — Hunter Goodman homered twice, including a go-ahead two-run shot in the fifth inning, and the Colorado Rockies beat the Miami Marlins 6-4 on Monday night to snap their fourth eight-game losing streak of the season. It was the 10th win against 50 losses for the Rockies, who had already wrapped up the worst 60-game start in the modern era (since 1901). The 1904 Washington Senators and 1932 Boston Red Sox both opened 11-49. Goodman had a two-out single in the first off Max Meyer, and Thairo Estrada followed with an RBI double to give Colorado the lead. Goodman was charged with an error in the bottom half when he dropped a throw at home plate, allowing the tying run to score. Otto Lopez added an RBI single off Germán Márquez, and a sacrifice fly by Eric Wagaman gave Miami a 3-1 lead. Jesús Sánchez's run-scoring double made it 4-1 in the second. Goodman homered in the third, and Tyler Freeman's two-out RBI single in the fourth got the Rockies within a run. Ezequiel Tovar singled leading off the fifth and Goodman followed with his ninth homer for a 5-4 advantage. Keston Hiura doubled leading off the ninth for his first hit with Colorado, and Sam Hilliard's one-out double drove in an insurance run. Márquez (2-7) allowed four runs — three earned — and nine hits in five innings. Jake Bird, Tyler Kinley and Seth Halvorsen each pitched a scoreless inning before Zach Agnos worked the ninth for his fourth save. Meyer (3-5) gave up five runs — four earned — and 10 hits in five innings. Miami has lost three of four to begin a six-game homestand. Key moment Sánchez singled leading off the ninth for Miami (23-35) before he was forced out at second on a pop fly by Agustín Ramírez that dropped in front of Freeman in right field. Agnos got Kyle Stowers to hit into a game-ending double play two pitches later. Key stat Goodman, a third-year catcher, leads Colorado in home runs and RBIs (34). Up next Marlins RHP Sandy Alcantara (2-7, 8.47 ERA) starts the middle game of the series Tuesday. The Rockies hadn't announced a scheduled starter. ___ AP MLB:

Texas Tech ends Oklahoma's 4-year run as Women's College World Series champ with walk-off 3-2 win
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma's run of four straight Women's College World Series titles ended when Lauren Allred's walk-off sacrifice fly gave Texas Tech a 3-2 victory in the semifinals on Monday night. Coach Patty Gasso's Sooners (52-9) were down to their last strike in the top of the seventh inning when Abigale Dayton summoned a bit of magic, hitting a tying two-run homer against Red Raiders ace NiJaree Canady. It was just her third longball of the season. But the Red Raiders (53-12) responded quickly in the bottom half. Mihyia Davis singled with one out and Hailey Toney followed with a double. Allred hit a flyball to right field and Sydney Barker's throw to the plate was wide, allowing Davis to score easily. Texas Tech, in its first trip to the WCWS, will play Texas in the best-of-three championship series starting Wednesday. The Longhorns reached the finals for the third time in the past four years. They lost to Oklahoma in 2022 and 2024. Oklahoma had won nine straight elimination games. Canady lost the shutout but got the win. She is the two-time reigning National Fastpitch Coaches Association Pitcher of the Year and was the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year last season. Formerly with Stanford, Canady signed a name, image and likeness deal worth more than $1 million to go to Texas Tech. ___ AP sports:
