Beer only Cresselly Arms in Pembrokeshire named pub of week
The Grade II listed Cresselly Arms in Cresswell Quay is a 250-year-old riverside pub with a Victorian public bar dating back to the 1880s. The pub, which won the Pembrokeshire CAMRA Pub of the Year awards in 2015 and 2024, and was named the Wales CAMRA Pub of the Year 2024, has retained much of its original charm over the years. Not only is it Grade II listed, but it has a cosy farm kitchen interior, complete with a red and black quarry-tiled floor, a roaring open cast-iron fireplace, and Victorian-era counter and bar-back shelves. It serves a wide selection of beers and lagers, including its popular Quay Ale, but it does not serve food. (Image: Supplied) However, it sometimes hosts barbecue events outside during the summer months, and it partners with street food vendors like Feast Pembrokeshire and We Love Curry to cater for customers. The Cresselly Arms can be reached by boat from the Milford Haven estuary or by paddleboard at high tide, and it's just a short drive from Tenby. It's also situated on several walking routes, making it a favourite spot for hikers. A spokesperson from the Cresselly Arms said: "On a bright summer's day, the pub provides the perfect setting to watch the sun set over the estuary - that is, if you're lucky enough to snag a table." The pub is a sanctuary for both locals and tourists, hosting community events and offering four cask beers. (Image: Supplied) It also has a homely farm kitchen interior, where a fire burns in the hearth. It is accessible by boat from the Milford Haven estuary at high tide and lies on a series of interesting walking routes. A spokesperson added: "Given its prime location, it's no surprise that this popular pub gets crowded when the weather is warm." The pub also boasts a Victorian public bar, which dates back to the 1880s and has retained much of its original charm over the years. The pub is a Grade II listed Pembrokeshire heritage pub.

'I went to Benidorm on holiday and couldn't believe cost of a pint'
A man, who is known as the Benidorm Fanatic to his TikTok followers, recently headed to the popular holiday destination and was left gobsmacked by the price of a drink A Brit was gobsmacked by the cost of a pint in Benidorm, despite being a frequent visitor to Spain. Known amongst his TikTok followers as the Benidorm Fanatic, he recounts his visit to Uncle Ron's, a bar renowned for its affordably priced pints, where he found himself pleasantly surprised by just how much bang he got for his buck. In his popular video, he raves: "I tell you what, I believe it's actually a very, very nice pint as well, so it comes to the equivalent of about 84p in British money. Let's go and try it out, shall we? Let's give it a try." Upon reaching the bar, he continued: "So there you go, I'll give you a euro, a €1 pint, and I'll take that. Let's try this €1 pint. Look at that - a nice, clean, cold pint. It's got a nice, good head on it - let's try it." He enthusiastically shared his verdict, saying: "That is actually one of the best pints I've had in one of the popular bars. That is actually one of the best pints I've had in Benidorm to be honest with you. €1, I'll drink them all day." The video quickly gained traction, prompting viewers to share their impressions and even their own tales of Benidorm adventures. Among the comments, one user exclaimed: "Wow," while another who'd been there on holiday exclaimed: "I was there last week." Someone else who'd be there said: "Lovely pint. Had many." Whil a fellow TikToker simply added: "Bargain." Uncle Ron's, a hit with British holidaymakers in Benidorm, is famed for its budget-friendly tipples and hearty meals. TripAdvisor reviews boast of the establishment's offerings from breakfast through to dinner, with an average rating of 3.8 out of 5 on the platform, suggesting it's a must-visit for those seeking a decent meal and drinks while away. In the review section, one visitor commented: "Had a fantastic breakfast at Ron's today. Lovely English produce. Great service. Brilliant staff. "A massive group came in, but they were serviced promptly. Don't know how they manage with so few staff." Another shared their experience: "Last day we visited for some lunch before heading to airport. Left full, which is always a good thing. In all my times of going here, never left unhappy at the service nor the food - always really good." A third reviewer added: "We went many times during our two-week holiday. The staff are friendly and extremely hard working day and night. "Cheapest drinks you will find in town and food to suit everyone (daily deal only 6 euros). It's not a stylish 5* restaurant but then you wouldn't expect it. "For drinks just go to the bar like a normal bar. Always busy Sunday and Friday, so expect to book if you want a Sunday lunch. Would we go again? Certainly would!"

Scotland's top six fishing spots and what you can catch at each named
From the River Dee to Loch Lomond, Scotland is certainly not short of stunning fishing spots Scotland's top six "must-visit" fishing destinations have been named. Rivers, lochs, and more are all included in the roundup. Scotland is regarded as one of the top locations for fishing across the globe. From its idyllic surroundings to the various species that can be caught, it is perfect for both seasoned anglers and newcomers alike. On Wednesday, June 4, The Insurance Emporium published a list of the top places to fish across Scotland. A total of six destinations are included on the roundup, including two rivers, two lochs, and two seaside spots. The first fishing destination featured on the experts' list is the River Spey, which is the third-longest and fastest-flowing river in the country. The river runs from Spey Loch to the sea on the Moray Firth. According to The Insurance Emporium, the River Spey is an especially good spot to fish for salmon and trout. It is considered among the most important salmon rivers in the whole of the UK. Another river singled out by the experts for fishing is the River Dee. One of the the highest rivers in the UK, it runs from the Cairngorms down through 81 miles of Royal Deeside to the North Sea at Aberdeen. Like the River Spey, The Insurance Emporium stated that the River Dee is a top spot for salmon and trout. They also praised its clear and fast waters and abundance of shallow pools. Meanwhile, the first loch in Scotland named by the experts as among the best fishing locations in the country is Loch Awe. Situated in Argyll and Bute, it is the third-biggest freshwater loch in the country—covering a surface area of around 38.5 square kilometres. According to The Insurance Emporium, Loch Awe is a good place for salmon, pike, and brown trout. The ruined Kilchurn Castle also provides a picturesque backdrop as you wait for a bite. The second and final loch included in the list of the top Scottish fishing spots is Loch Lomond. It is the largest loch in Scotland by surface area, covering 71 square kilometres, and is among the most iconic in the country alongside Loch Ness. There is a wide selection of fish that the experts suggest fishing at Loch Lomond, including salmon, pike, sea trout, chub, perch, and dace. It is recommended that fishers journey out onto the water by boat for the best chance of landing a bite. Elsewhere, for those interested in some seaside fishing, The Insurance Emporium recommends Dunnet Head. The most northerly point on Great Britain, Dunnet Head is famous for its spectacular coastal views. The northern spot was named as a top destination for skate and halibut fishing. Meanwhile, the Dunnet Head Fishing Club is the northernmost fishing club on mainland Scotland. Finally, the last location in Scotland that was named among the best for fishing is Stonehaven. Stonehaven is a picturesque town situated along the northeast coast of Scotland, around 15 miles out of Aberdeen. According to the experts, Stonehaven is a great place for cod and sea bass. They also state that flounder and mackerel can be found in its waters. The Insurance Emporium website states: "Scotland offers so much to fans of the great outdoors, with its rugged landscape, amazing coastline and beautiful lochs, and fishing is no exception. "But with so many different locations it can be a challenge to find the right spot, so we've put together six of the best spots to cast your line, whether you're after trout and salmon, or sea fishing, there really is something for everyone. So, let's take a look at six of the top fishing destinations in Scotland." The Insurance Emporium website.
