"Fire mainly located at back of building": Eyewitness detail Hyderabad Gulzar House fire
Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], May 18 (ANI): An eyewitness to the fire that broke out at a building at Gulzar House in Hyderabad early Sunday morning, in which 17 people, including eight children, were killed, said that the blaze was mainly located in the back of the building.
The eyewitness Zahid also detailed the efforts of local people to save the people stuck in the building.
'We could not enter the building through the main gate as it was engulfed in flames, so we broke the shutter to go inside. Then five to six of us broke through a wall and entered the first floor. But the whole place was completely engulfed in flames. The police and fire tenders did good work and cooperated fully. But we could not save the people because of the massive fire,' he said.
'The fire was mainly located at the back of the house, and there was no back door to get to that... All the deceased were part of the same family... Yes, the fire tenders were a bit late, but the fire was too massive to enter the first floor,' he added.
A fire department official said today that a preliminary examination of the blaze indicated that a short circuit caused the massive blaze.
The cause of death of all the 17 people was smoke inhalation, 'nobody had burn injuries,' Telangana Disaster Response and Fire Services DG Y Nagi Reddy said.
The list of the 17 deceased released by the Telangana Fire Disaster Response Emergency and Civil Defence includes the names of eight children under the age of 10.The youngest in the list was identified as one Prathan (1.5 years old). The seven other children have been identified as Hamey (7), Priyansh (4), Iraaj (2), Arushi (3), Rishabh (4), Anuyan (3) and Iddu (4).
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he was 'deeply anguished' by the loss of lives in the fire and announced an ex gratia, of Rs 2 lakh and Rs 50,000 to those injured in the mishap, from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund to the kin of the deceased as per the Prime Minister's Office. (ANI)

"The feeling that we are all one has not yet come to all people. When that feeling comes, then we will have perfectly followed Vivekananda's message," he said. The state govt, adopting the visionary ideas of Vivekananda, is trying to bring even the most marginalised person of society into the mainstream. According to the United Nations standards, those who earn less than Rs 200 per day are poor. The state govt is providing an income guarantee of at least Rs 5,000 per month to every family, he said. Former MLA DR Patil said the activities of Ramakrishna Ashram are aimed at building a better society. Cooperation will be provided for all the activities of the ashram. Swami Gautamanandaji Maharaj, president of the Ramakrishna Math, Belur, said the Ramakrishna Ashrama, Belagavi, has been a beacon of Vivekananda's ideals in North Karnataka. Recalling his days of association with the Ramakrishna Ashrama, former DIG VV Bhaskar expressed pride about the service of the Ashram. Dr Mallikarjun V Joli, the chief executive of KLE Cancer Hospital Belagavi, delivered the vote of thanks.

Ladli Behna aid to be hiked on Rakshabandhan: CM
Bhopal: CM Mohan Yadav has announced that the monthly assistance under the Ladli Behna Yojana will be increased on the occasion of Rakshabandhan , with a long-term goal of raising it to Rs 3,000 over the next five years. At present, beneficiaries receive Rs 1,250 per month. Addressing a public gathering in Jabalpur district on Saturday, Yadav also announced a Rs 1,400 crore irrigation project, the Gomukh reservoir, which will benefit over 25,000 farmers across Jabalpur and Mandla districts. The project will bring irrigation to nearly 15,000 hectares in Jabalpur and 10,000 hectares in Mandla. Yadav said the reservoir will enable irrigation of 14,900 hectares in Jabalpur district and 10,100 hectares in Mandla district. He added that the tribal region is being gifted with institutions like the Sandipani School and the ITI, which shall play a transformative role in the lives of students and help shape a brighter future for them. Diversification, policy reforms aid Odisha's industrial progress: CM
1 2 3 4 Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the BJP govt's one-year anniversary, chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday said that Odisha is becoming a "diversified industrial powerhouse" and a top investment destination in the country by not just approving investments worth Rs 4.5 lakh crore but also successfully grounding projects worth Rs 1.78 lakh crore. "Odisha is no longer just a minerals and metals hub. We are becoming a diversified industrial powerhouse, where opportunity flows from port to plant, and from cities to every aspirational district," the CM said during a meeting with leading industrialists and entrepreneurs in the city. "We are not merely sanctioning projects; we are grounding them. We are not making promises; we are delivering results — at scale, with speed, and with purpose," Majhi said. Mapping the industrial growth story, he said, "In just one year, we approved over 200 large and mega projects. Odisha now stands for credibility, competitiveness and commitment to progress." The CM said industries are diversifying from minerals and metals to green energy, agro-processing, technical textiles and shipbuilding, with investments flowing into 20 sectors.
