India, UAE Eye Stronger Defence and Tech Cooperation During High-Level Talks

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today welcomed the Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, in New Delhi, reaffirming the enduring friendship and robust partnership between India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
In a post shared on social media following the meeting, Prime Minister Modi praised Dubai's vital role in advancing the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. He described the visit as "special" and noted that it reinforces the "deep-rooted friendship" between the two nations while paving the way for even greater collaboration in the future.
Sheikh Hamdan, who also serves as the UAE's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, arrived in the Indian capital earlier today. He was received at the airport by Minister of State Suresh Gopi. This marks his first official visit to India since assuming the role of Crown Prince.
During his visit, Sheikh Hamdan also held discussions with External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. Dr Jaishankar shared his appreciation for the Crown Prince's positive outlook on the expanding cooperation and strong bilateral ties between India and the UAE.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh described the meeting as "productive" in a statement posted on social media. He underscored the importance of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with the UAE and expressed India's readiness to deepen cooperation in key areas such as defence collaboration, joint production and development initiatives, innovation, and advanced technology.
He further emphasized the shared vision of India and the UAE in working together to ensure peace and prosperity across the region.

These orders come from leading transmission asset owners and operators in the respective countries, it stated. In India, L&T has won an order to build 765kV and 400kV transmission line jobs pertaining to the integration of a Renewable Energy Zone in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh. His visit followed the tragic crash of Air India flight AI-171, which claimed the lives of 241 people. The flight, bound for London Gatwick, took off from Ahmedabad International Airport on Thursday evening but crashed minutes later in a nearby residential area. Only one passenger — a British national of Indian origin — survived the crash. Accompanied by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, Minister of State Murlidhar Mohol, and State Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi, PM Modi surveyed the wreckage and later visited Civil Hospital to meet the injured and speak with grieving families. asdsad Among the victims was 14-year-old Akash Patni, who was asleep in his home when the aircraft plummeted into his neighborhood. According to aviation officials, the crew sent a Mayday signal shortly after takeoff, but communication was lost soon afterward. The crash sparked a massive fire, fueled by nearly 125,000 litres of jet fuel on board. Authorities have launched a full investigation into the cause of the crash, while emergency teams continue to recover and identify victims. In an emotional statement, Prime Minister Modi assured the public that the government would leave no stone unturned in uncovering the truth and supporting the affected families. "This is a heartbreaking moment for our nation," he said. "We stand with every family that lost a loved one."
