'Don't attack Maleyha because her mental health is going to be reflected on our daughter, so I don't want anyone attacking Maleyha anymore.' The fake campaign said it has a goal of reaching $100,000 to buy a drone to help with the search for the Sullivan siblings. Article content However, Halifax Search and Rescue director Paul Service said his group doesn't normally request donations through GoFundMe and doesn't base its campaigns on particular searches. Service says a representative from GoFundMe contacted him to say it was taking down the site and investigating after the campaign was reported on CBC.

Woman dragged into wooded area at High Park and sexually assaulted: police

Toronto police have issued a public safety alert after a woman was dragged into a wooded area in High Park and sexually assaulted on Wednesday night. Police were called to the east side of the park near Howard Park Avenue and Parkside Drive at around 10:40 p.m. They say that a female was walking on a paved pathway in the park when she was approached from behind by an unknown male suspect who dragged her into a wooded area and sexually assaulted her before fleeing. The victim was able to get away from the suspect and seek help from a passerby who called the police, investigators say. She sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the attack, police said. A media officer later told CP24 that the victim is an 'adult female.' The suspect is described as a Black male with a dark complexion, who is about five-foot-ten and 30 to 40 years old with a slim, athletic build. He was last seen wearing a T-shirt and dark-coloured pants. This investigation is ongoing and anyone with further information is asked to contact Toronto police or Crime Stoppers anonymously.

N.B. man found guilty of manslaughter in Moncton Casino manager's death

(Derek Haggett/CTV Atlantic) A man has been found guilty of manslaughter following the assault and death of a manager at Casino New Brunswick in Moncton two years ago. Michael Thomas Glaspy of Riverview, N.B., appeared in court on Wednesday and was found guilty by jury of manslaughter in connection with the 2023 homicide. He was released on conditions until his next court appearance on Aug. 13. Members of the Codiac Regional RCMP responded to a report of an assault at the Moncton Casino on March 4, 2023. A 56-year-old man, identified as Rodney Frenette of Moncton, was taken to hospital with serious injuries where he died later that month. (Source: Fergusons Funeral Home) According to Frenette's obituary, he had a long career in the gaming industry and was the food and beverages manager at the casino and oversaw two restaurants. Glaspy, who was arrested at the scene and later released, was arrested again on April 13, 2023. He appeared in court the next day and was charged with manslaughter.
