US PGA Championship 2025: Leaderboard and final round updates from Quail Hollow
Scottie Scheffler will look to put the finishing touches on a third career major title when he sets off in the final round of the PGA Championship on Sunday at Quail Hollow Club with a three-shot lead over Swede Alex Noren.
World number one Scheffler is scheduled to head out in the day's final pairing with Noren at 6.40pm with forecasts calling for breezy conditions and mostly cloudy skies.
Scheffler emerged atop the leaderboard late in Saturday's third round with a scintillating finish that saw him cover the last five holes in five under, a stretch that included a tap-in eagle at the par-four 14th hole.
'I have a good opportunity to go out there and try and win the golf tournament,' Scheffler said after the third round. 'But it's going to take another really good round.
'There's a lot of great players chasing me on the leaderboard and someone is going to put up a great round and it's up to me to go out there and have another really good round and finish off the tournament.'
Noren is making only his second start of the year after sitting out seven months with tail bone and tendon issues and is seeking his first major title in his 40th start in one of golf's blue-riband events.
Sitting four shots off the pace in a two-way share of third place were Davis Riley and fellow American J.T. Poston while Spaniard Jon Rahm was a further shot back with South Korean Kim Si-woo and Venezuelan Jhonattan Vegas.
Lurking six shots behind Scheffler is a group of five that includes U.S. Open champion Bryson DeChambeau and U.S. Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley.
The pursuers all have their work cut out as the unflappable Scheffler, twice Masters champion, has closed out each of the last seven 54-hole leads he has held on the PGA Tour.
In the previous 106 PGA Championships only 16 golfers have entered the final round trailing by three or more strokes and won the Wanamaker. The most recent was Justin Thomas who came back from seven shots in 2022.
Rory McIlroy, who made the cut on the number in his first major since completing the career Grand Slam at last month's Masters, went out with the early starters and bogeyed his opening hole.

The Green Bay Packers are parting ways with Jaire Alexander, despite their quarterback's desperate plea, according to reports. The Packers are releasing the cornerback after an offseason of uncertainty sparked by two injury-plagued seasons for the 28-year-old. The franchise and player had agreed to explore a potential trade earlier in the offseason, according to Ian Rapoport. After failing to clinch a way out of Green Bay before the NFL Draft in April, the two parties reportedly also discussed a restructured contract. Alexander, who was selected by the Packers in the first round in 2018, signed a four-year contract extension with Green Bay in 2022 with two years remaining on the $84 million deal. With Alexander owed $17.5million for the upcoming seasons, it proved tough for the Packers to seal a trade, particularly amid his injury woes. When healthy, Alexander is one of the most impactful cornerbacks in the league, having earned Pro Bowl nods twice. He is also a two-time second-team All-Pro in 2020 and 2021. June 10 - It wasn't just Texas celebrating a historic win in the Women's College World Series over the Texas Tech last week. The deciding Game 3 on Friday averaged 2.4 million viewers on ESPN and ESPNU, peaking at 2.7 million, making it the most-watched NCAA softball game ever. In total, the three-game championship series averaged 2.2 million viewers, another record for the WCWS finals. It represents a 13 percent uptick from 2024, when Oklahoma beat Texas in two games to become the first program to win four straight softball national championships. That finals previously set the viewership record, topping the prior mark set in 2015 (Florida over Michigan). On top of it all, ESPN set viewership records for each WCWS game: The first and second games each drew 2.1 million viewers to set Game 1 and Game 2 records of the WCWS championship series.
