Sam's Club in Springfield awards $2,000 grant to local Girl Scout Troops
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Sam's Club in Springfield has awarded a $2,000 grant to support the Girl Scouts Day of Caring: Camp Renewal Project at Camp Finbrooke in Rogersville, Missouri.
This funding will be used to enhance and maintain the camp's facilities, ensuring it remains a safe and welcoming environment where girls can explore, learn, and grow.
Last year, the same Sam's Club donated to Girl Scouts of Missouri Heartland to help with their camping experience.
As part of the United Way of the Ozarks' annual Day of Caring, scheduled for June 26, 2025, GSMH will lead a Camp Renewal Project at Camp Finbrooke.
This community-wide event connects local volunteers with nonprofit organizations to complete much-needed service projects.
For GSMH, it means rallying nearly 150 volunteers to help improve and maintain the camp's facilities. Volunteers will assist with trail maintenance, cabin repairs, painting, deep cleaning, and more.
Springfield-area businesses can sign up to volunteer for the United Way Day of Caring.
Registration opens on May 5 and closes on May 30. To sign up and make an impact, visit https://uwozarks.org/day-of-caring/.

Over 130 Collins Aerospace employees volunteer to beautify seniors' yards
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Over 130 Collins Aerospace employees volunteered to do yard work at 15 homes that belong to seniors. This was a part of Collins Aerospace's collaboration with Lifescape for the annual Day of Caring event in the Rockford area. One volunteer who has been with the manufacturer for nearly three decades said the homeowners often get emotional because of the support they are receiving. 'Many times at the end, they make you tear up because they're so very grateful for what we're doing,' said Volunteer Bruce Daub. 'A lot of times, their family can't help them. Many of these yards used to look really nice, and for other reasons, age or whatever, they can't do it anymore. So, it's very rewarding.' Collins Aerospace provides all the tools needed for the event. This is the 7th annual Day of Caring. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
