THE parents of stabbing victim Kory McCrimmon led marchers in a celebration of their tragic son - and urged the government to end violence on the streets.
Despite horrendous conditions, Kory's family were undeterred in sending a message to Scotland's justice minister - and called for hope to be returned to the streets.

The heavens opened as their Parents Against Knives procession kicked off after the youngster's dad Neil, 57, and mum Elizabeth, 44, were greeted by Rangers legend Mark Hateley at Ibrox before walking four miles to Celtic Park.
The couple released a blue love-heart balloon with the words, 'love mum and dad' into the sky .
They then unfurled a large banner emblazoned with their darling boy's picture and the words 'Parents Against Knives, Save Our Children'.
The marchers carried on through the sodden streets to Celtic's ground, which sits right next to their home in the Barrowfield area of the city.
The crowd - many clutching umbrellas and donning rain macs over their light blue campaign t-shirts - put one foot in front of the other, chanting, "1, 2, 3, 4, too many, too much, no more".
Neil said: 'We're here to put hope back on the streets. The justice minister says there's no crisis, of course there is.
"Tell her to stand in my shoes and tell me there's no crisis. I'm not saying we need to change our government, I'm saying we need to change our policies.
"I'm so proud everybody has come out today to put out a bit of hope and celebrate Kory's life. I'm overjoyed by it.'
Elizabeth, who is a carer, added: 'We're here to highlight what's going on within our city, with all these young boys dying. Three in a year, it is unacceptable.
"It can't keep happening, so if this is what we need for something to be done, then I hope it does.'
Teen killer, 13, threatened to 'chop up' schoolboy, 16, before stabbing him to death amid Glasgow 'young team' rivalry
Kory - a keen footballer and Rangers fan - was only 16-years-old when he was stabbed in the heart after a confrontation in a park in Springboig, Glasgow, last May.
He died two days later in hospital and his killer, who was just 13, had swapped threats on social media in a row over £50.
The killer, now 14, was charged with murder but a guilty plea to the lesser offence of culpable homicide was accepted.
He was given five years' detention in May.
Kory's brother Jamie McNab, described the event as 'emotional', adding: 'It's been a great response to what we've done and it shows that people really do care and they want to step up and take action.
"Kory was so full of life, so happy, mischievous but at the same time, so kind-hearted. He would do anything for anybody.
"It's hard that he's not here right now.'
The 23-year-old, who owns a scrap business, encouraged those in power to be leaders and take action, adding: "As a boy that's grown up in rough communities, there's no community policing, there's no community centres, there's nothing for kids to do so the only they can do is walk around the streets and run riot, there's no controlling it."
The family of dad-to-be Jamie McGready, 33, who was stabbed to death in a flat in Govan, Glasgow, in 2020, also showed up to support the cause.
His dad James, 65, an office furniture fitter, and wearing a blue t-shirt showing a picture of Jamie and his nickname 'Jaggy', said: 'We're all here to help try and get the message across.
"Our justice system is too weak. There should be heavy punishment for even carrying a blade - you carry one for one reason only.'
Celtic legend Tosh McKinley was there to greet the sodden but spirited walkers at Celtic Park, before dad Neil gave an emotive speech giving thanks and telling youngsters: 'This is bigger than Kory, it's about you, to put down the knives and try and make a difference.'

Scotland's dog fouling law slammed by critics as prosecution stats revealed

Statistics have sparked fears low-level crime is being ignored in Scotland Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) DOG-fouling laws have been described as 'all bark, no bite' after a big drop in prosecutions. The collapse has fuelled fears low-level crime is being ignored in Scotland. That compares to a high of 86 taken to court in 2013/14 for failing to pick up their pet's poo on streets, parks, paths and footie pitches. Lib Dem MSP Jamie Greene, who uncovered the stats, said they were the result of years of underfunding for councils. He hit out: 'Ever since the SNP started slashing budgets, local authorities have been dogged by a poo problem. 'Figures show there are now barely any prosecutions. This will encourage bad owners because they show the law is all bark, no bite. The Scottish Government needs to ensure police and councils are properly resourced to tackle this.' Under the law, culprits can be hit with fines of up to £100. Data also reveals a big drop in anti-social behaviour crimes recorded by cops. Offences plummeted by 46 per cent in the last decade from 320,000 to fewer than 175,000. The largest drop was for enforcing anti-urinating laws, with 11,216 crimes in 2014/15 and 759 in 2023/24. Police Scotland has been accused of abandoning low-level crime due to a lack of officers. In March last year, the force confirmed it won't investigate some cases where there's no CCTV, witnesses, or other obvious leads. In footage, one onlooker can be heard joking: "Excuse me, you can't park there." A small boat was spotted making its way towards the car as it began to sink. It is not clear exactly how the hatchback ended up in the loch. Cops rushed to banks of Strathclyde Loch around 7.20pm after the alarm was raised. Firecrews were also dispatched to the scene. The vehicle was later recovered and fortunately nobody was hurt. But officers have charged a man over an alleged road traffic offence. A Police Scotland spokesperson told the Daily Record: 'We were made aware of a car that had rolled into the water at Strathclyde Loch around 7.20pm on Saturday, June 21, 2025. 'Emergency services attended, the vehicle was recovered, and no one was injured. Drunk driver left man brain damaged and needing arm amputated after crashing three times over the limit

Lee McQueen got behind the wheel while more than three times the alcohol limit HORROR SMASH Drunk driver left man brain damaged and needing arm amputated after crashing three times over the limit Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A DRUNK driver who left a man with irreversible brain damage and needing his arm amputated has been caged for three years. Lee McQueen, 44, got behind the wheel after a night out in Ayr and was more than three times the limit when his car struck a tree on the B742 in Annbank, Ayrshire, catastrophically injuring his passenger, Brian Wylie. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 3 McQueen hid his face when he appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court 3 Brian Wylie was left with catastrophic injuries after being a passenger 3 Lee McQueen was jailed for three years and banned from driving for 15 years Credit: Michael Schofield McQueen was left unconscious in the car while his passenger, Brian, took the brunt of the impact and suffered devastating internal injuries and brain damage, which he will never recover from. McQueen, of Ayr, was sentenced to three years in jail and banned from driving for 15 years after pleading guilty to drink driving. Brian's heartbroken mum, Mandy Wylie said the dad-of-one requires round-the-clock care and said, regardless of the sentence dished out to McQueen, their lives had been 'forever changed'. She added: 'On that fateful day, Brian sustained life changing injuries as the result of someone else's recklessness and what has happened today will not change that.' Ayr Sheriff Court previously heard the pair had been in Crumbs and Cocktails drinking before both left and got into McQueen's car, with him driving. McQueen drove the car along the B742, losing control at a bend and careering into a tree, before rolling down an embankment. A passerby witnessed the smash and got out to help. When McQueen came to he tried to deny that he was driving. Both men were taken to hospital with Brian eventually needing his left arm amputated after multiple operations on his shoulder. McQueen had previously been told to expect a lengthy jail sentence and arrived at court with his face covered and carrying a backpack. Moment drunk lorry driver swerves across major A-road missing traffic by INCHES Sentencing him to three years, Sheriff Scott Pattison said: 'The injuries and medical consequences for Mr Wylie, your passenger, were horrendous and lifelong. 'I have assessed your culpability as high and the harm you caused was obviously significant and extensive. 'You are remorseful and have yourself been impacted by these terrible events. 'I have determined that only a custodial sentence is appropriate given the serious nature of your offending.' Brian's mum Mandy added: 'On November 26th 2023, our lives were changed forever when we were told that Brian had been a passenger in car crash. 'Today, the driver was convicted of dangerous driving and sentenced to three years in prison and banned from driving for 15 years. 'As much as this conviction shows that the legal process has taken place and a punishment has been handed down, no matter what the sentence was or how severe, will not make a difference to Brian's future.' Sergeant Brian Simpson of Ayrshire Road Policing Unit said: 'McQueen was under the influence of alcohol that evening and the decision to drive his car resulted in his male passenger suffering horrendous, life changing injuries. 'Drivers are responsible for their own actions and the risks they take can have the most devastating consequences. 'Our thoughts remain with the victim and his family at this time.'
