IAEA seeks access to Iran nuclear sites
Vienna – The UN nuclear watchdog head demanded Monday the return of agency inspectors to Iran's nuclear sites in a bid to 'account for' its highly enriched uranium stockpiles following attacks by Israel and the United States on its atomic programme.
To be able to 'return to the negotiating table', 'allow IAEA inspectors, the guardians on our behalf of the NPT to go back to Iran's nuclear sites and account for the stockpiles of uranium' including the '400 kilograms enriched to 60 percent', Rafael Grossi, director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), told an emergency meeting of the organisation's headquarters in Vienna.
He added that Tehran had sent him a letter on June 13 announcing the implementation of 'special measures to protect nuclear equipment and materials'. Over the weekend, the United States struck three Iranian nuclear sites, joining Israel's campaign against Iran's nuclear programme.

Iranian General Ebrahim Jabbari, Advisor to IRGC Chief, on Iran State TV: We Must Chop Off Trump's Hand, Slit Netanyahu's Throat, Annihilate Israel
General Ebrahim Jabbari, senior advisor to the IRGC commander-in-chief and former commander of Supreme Leader Khamenei's security unit, appeared on Channel 3 (Iran) on June 23, 2025. He suggested that the U.S. may have joined the conflict because Iran was on the verge of annihilating Israel. Jabbari stated that Iranians must 'chop off President Trump's hand' and 'slit Netanyahu's throat.' He also claimed that American military bases and warships in the region could be eliminated 'in the blink of an eye,' and that Israel itself must be annihilated. The program's host claimed that Iranian intelligence had intercepted internal Israeli communications indicating that, despite official reports stating there were no fatalities, over 500 Israelis were actually killed and 300 are missing following the previous day's Iranian attacks, in which several dozen were reportedly wounded. Jabbari confirmed the host's claim. Later, Jabbari alleged that Israel had failed to intercept even a single Iranian missile. The host concluded by asserting that the world acknowledges Iran is in the right and that Iran must build a nuclear bomb.

White House: US strikes obliterated key Iranian nuclear sites
Shafaq News/ The White House asserted, on Monday, it has a 'high degree of confidence' that recent US airstrikes eliminated critical Iranian nuclear sites containing enriched uranium. Speaking to ABC's Good Morning America, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt claimed the strikes 'completely and totally obliterated [the facilities] as the president [Donald Trump] said in his address to the nation on Saturday night.' She stressed that Trump would not have greenlit the mission without clear evidence of its effectiveness. Her remarks followed Sunday's US-Israeli strikes on three major Iranian nuclear sites—Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. Since June 13, Iran and Israel have launched near-daily missile and drone attacks. Despite growing international pressure to de-escalate, both sides continue to engage across multiple fronts.

Eni reduces workforce at Iraq's Zubair oil field amid regional tensions
Baghdad ( – Italian energy giant Eni has scaled back the number of its employees at the Zubair oil and gas field in southern Iraq's Basra province as a precautionary response to heightened instability in the region. The decision follows a wave of airstrikes over the weekend, in which the United States joined Israeli efforts to target key Iranian nuclear facilities. The escalation has raised concerns about the potential for broader regional fallout in the Gulf, particularly in neighboring countries like Iraq, which hosts both Western companies and Iran-backed groups. According to Reuters, Eni is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with local authorities to ensure the safety of its staff and operations. Zubair is one of Iraq's major oil fields and a critical part of the country's energy sector. Any disruptions or security concerns in Basra could have wider implications for Iraq's oil exports, which are vital to the national economy.
