Darren Aronofsky Circling to Direct Stephen King's "Cujo" Remake

Yara Sameh
Darren Aronofsky, whose resume ranges from Requiem for a Dream to Black Swan to The Whale, is in talks to direct Netflix's adaptation of Stephen King's novel "Cujo".
Roy Lee, who established his King bonafides with the two It movies, Salem's Lot, and the upcoming dystopian thriller The Long Walk, is producing.
There is no writer yet on the project, but Aronofsky is expected to meet with candidates soon.
The 1981 novel of the same name told of a lovable St. Bernard named Cujo who, after being bitten by a bat, becomes a mouth-foaming killer.
The central focus of a mother and her seizure-prone son trapped in a busted-down car outside a service garage became the central focus of the 1983 adaptation that was directed by Lewis Teague and starring Dee Wallace, Daniel Hugh Kelly, and Danny Pintauro.
Both the novel and the movie became part of an enduring pop culture in which any raving dog can be referred to as a Cujo.
At the box office, 'Cujo' earned $21 million worldwide (not adjusted for inflation) against a $6 million budget.
King's novels, in genres ranging from horror and sci-fi to crime and fantasy, have been a rich material for Hollywood, with movies such as 'Carrie,' 'The Shining,' 'Shawshank Redemption,' 'Stand By Me,' 'It' and the sequel 'It: Chapter Two.'
Edgar Wright is currently adapting King's dystopian action thriller 'The Running Man' with Colman Domingo, Glen Powell and Josh Brolin.
Moreover, Mike Flanagan recently helmed the feel-good apocalyptic story 'Life of Chuck,' led by Tom Hiddleston and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
'Life of Chuck' was acquired by Neon after the Toronto Film Festival, where it won the audience award.
Neon also backed the gory slasher 'The Monkey,' from director Osgood Perkins that's based on King's short story about a cursed toy that causes people to suffer random, horrific deaths.
The movie opened in February and has grossed $45 million worldwide.
On the small screen, King's works include HBO's upcoming 'It' prequel 'Welcome to Derry,' as well as Flanagan's 'Carrie' series at Amazon.

Jessie J Reveals Early Breast Cancer Diagnosis: "I Am Going to Disappear for a Bit"

Yara Sameh British singer-songwriter Jessica Ellen Cornish, aka Jessie J, has revealed that she had been recently diagnosed with 'early breast cancer.' The musician shared the health update on Instagram on Tuesday, telling her followers that the diagnosis came shortly before the release of her track 'No Secrets' in April. 'Before 'No Secrets' came out, I was diagnosed with early breast cancer,' she said. 'I'm highlighting the word early. Cancer sucks in any form but I'm holding on to the word early.' As she continued, she revealed that she has been 'in and out of tests' since the release of the track and wanted to share the video in an attempt to be 'open' about her journey with her supporters. 'I just wanted to be open and share it because selfishly, I do not talk about it enough,' she added. 'I'm not processing it because I'm working so hard. I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and support, and also their own stories. I'm an open book. It breaks my heart that so many people are going through so much. Similar and worse.' She continued, 'I'm getting to keep my nipples, that's good. It's a weird topic and a weird situation. And I know the press are going to say crazy stuff but you know what, to get diagnosed with this as I'm putting out a song called 'No Secrets' right before a song called 'Living My Best Life,' which was all pre-planned before I found out about this, I mean you can't make it up.' In closing her video to fans, Jessie J explained that she will 'disappear for a bit' to undergo surgery following her performance at the Summertime Ball in England on June 15. Celebrity friends and fans online were quick to extend their get-well-soon wishes to Jessie. "You're literally my favorite person and I'm praying for you. You've got this. My mother had it and I know the surgery and any treatment on this matter is mentally tough so I'm here for you," Rita Ora commented. "Open book and open heart, we love you and support you always, sending you the best energy for a soon recovery ❤️ warrior," one fan wrote. Jessie J's decision to be open and honest with her health journey aligns with her comments from July, in which she revealed a recent diagnosis of obsessive-compulsive behavior (OCD) and attention-deficit/hyperactivity (ADHD). 'It's empowered me and honestly sometimes has overwhelmed me all at the same time,' she explained, noting that the information had made her think about her life in a whole new way. 'If there is one thing social media has given me, it's the chance to relate, connect, and heal with strangers that have kind hearts and are going through a similar thing. I have always been honest in the journey I'm going through in life.' Some of the Grammy-nominated artist's other tracks include 'Together Till Infinity,' 'Heaven Bound,' 'I Want Love,' and 'Brave.' read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Australia Fines Telegram $600,000 Over Terrorism, Child Abuse Content Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Sports Neymar Announced for Brazil's Preliminary List for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Arts & Culture New Archaeological Discovery from 26th Dynasty Uncovered in Karnak Temple Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan

Cillian Murphy's Role in "28 Years Later" Franchise Has Been Clarified

Yara Sameh Cillian Murphy is coming back to the '28 Days Later' franchise — but fans will have to wait patiently. Director Danny Boyle revealed in interviews with Business Insider and IGN that Murphy, who starred in the original '28 Days Later' in 2002, will not star in the upcoming '28 Years Later," but will appear in the ending of its 2026 sequel, 'The Bone Temple.' 'He is in the second one,' Boyle told IGN . 'I shouldn't give away too much. I'll get killed.' Boyle and writer Alex Garland conceived '28 Years Later' as the start of a new trilogy. The franchise revival, which stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer and Ralph Fiennes, was filmed back-to-back with its follow-up, '28 Years Later: The Bone Temple,' which is directed by Nia DaCosta. A trilogy-capper remains in development and could be greenlit if '28 Years Later' becomes a box office hit. Boyle hopes that incorporating Murphy, who is coming off of a best actor Oscar win for 'Oppenheimer,' could also help secure financing for the third film. 'All I can say is you have to wait for Cillian, but hopefully he will help us get the third film financed,' Boyle told Business Insider. To IGN, 'Although each story [in the trilogy] completes itself, there's a handover section to the next film as well. So it's very ambitious. We haven't got the money for the third one yet. It will depend how the first one does, I guess. But hopefully, if we do okay, they'll give us the go-ahead for the money and for the third one. Everybody's standing by for that, really. Including Cillian.' Boyle also shared with Business Insider that getting Murphy on board for the trilogy helped him get approval to film '28 Years Later' with iPhones: 'You promise them Cillian Murphy, that's quite a deflection of any technical concerns. They soon forget. We nakedly used that to get our own way. What better promise could you make?'. Boyle's original '28 Days Later' was one of the first blockbuster roles for Murphy. He led the thriller as Jim, a man who awakens in a hospital to discover the United Kingdom has collapsed amid an undead apocalypse. Fans have speculated that Murphy could return to the franchise, with some even believing that a zombie in the first trailer for '28 Years Later' was played by the actor. It's actually an art dealer and acting newcomer, Angus Neill. '28 Years Later' releases to theaters June 20 from Sony Pictures. The sequel, '28 Years Later: The Bone Temple,' is slated for January 16, 2026. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Australia Fines Telegram $600,000 Over Terrorism, Child Abuse Content Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Sports Neymar Announced for Brazil's Preliminary List for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Arts & Culture New Archaeological Discovery from 26th Dynasty Uncovered in Karnak Temple Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan
