‘Chapter is over': Cristiano Ronaldo hints Al-Nassr exit after 2-3 loss in last SPL 2024-25 match
Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted at the end of his Al-Nassr exit after the team's defeat in the Saudi Premier League (SPL) 2024-25 season-ending match to Al-Fateh.
Despite notching up his record 800th club goal of his career, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner could not prevent a 2-3 loss for his side, ending hopes of their Asian Champions League Elite qualification. With 70 points, Al Nassr finished third on the SPL standings, 13 behind league winners Al-Ittihad and five behind second-placed Al-Hilal.
Ronaldo, who joined the Saudi side in 2022 after his second stint with Manchester United, has his contract with the club run out this summer.
'This chapter is over,' Ronaldo wrote on social media after the loss. 'The story? Still being written. Grateful to all,' the former Real Madrid and Juventus forward added.

The 40-year-old Ronaldo can, however, keep his story running immediately by linking up with a FIFA Club World Cup team before the 32-team tournament begins on June 14.
Ronaldo could be in the running to join one of the sides after FIFA set up a special trading window for the participating teams to sign new players between June 1-10. FIFA president Gianni Infantino also hinted at a probable move for the Portuguese legend in the special window.
'Cristiano Ronaldo might play in the Club World Cup,' Infantino said on the online streamer IShowSpeed's YouTube channel, which boasts over 39 million subscribers. 'There are discussions with some clubs, so if any club is interested in hiring Ronaldo for the Club World Cup, who knows. There is still time; it will be fun.'
Ronaldo could then reunite with his long-time rival Lionel Messi in the same tournament for the first time since the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Despite Al-Nassr's underwhelming finish, Ronaldo topped the Golden Boot race in the SPL with 24 goals, with his overall tally sitting at 99 goals in 111 appearances for the team.

Messi's brilliance continues with 2 goals; Inter Miami beat Columbus 5-1
Inter Miami was in a midseason slump just a week ago. Lionel Messi made sure it didn't last long. Messi scored for the fifth time in three Major League Soccer matches to help Inter Miami rout the Columbus Crew 5-1 on Saturday night for its second straight win. Messi played a role each of Miami's goals. He scored twice in the 15th and 24th minutes giving him 10 goals this season, which leads his team and is tied for third in MLS. He set up Tadeo Allende's goal in the 13th, Faf Picault's in the 89th and was also involved in Luis Suarez's score in the 64th. That makes it two straight matches that the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner has recorded at least two goals and an assist. His 16 goal contributions are the most in the league. I see him every game. We see the same thing," Miami coach Javier Mascherano said through an interpreter. "We try to help him as much as we can. ... Clearly he is the best player that has ever played this game. And we have to understand that when he is not brilliant, that's because one of us is failing. That's the reality. Miami was the more aggressive team early. The Herons had seven shots four on goal in the first 25 minutes against a Columbus team that does not give up many. The Crew entered Saturday ranked eighth in MLS with just 19 goals allowed. Allende opened the scoring with a cross-body finish set up by Messi's long ball over the top. A few minutes later, Messi took advantage of a poor decision by goalkeeper Nicholas Hagen and lofted the ball over despite the keeper getting a hand on it. On Messi's second goal, Sergio Busquets set up his former Barcelona teammate for the second straight game, sending a long pass to a streaking Messi for an easy finish over Hagen. It was an important win for Miami, which entered Saturday with just two wins in its past eight matches and was sixth in the Eastern Conference. Miami beat Montreal 4-2 on Wednesday, and Saturday's win over Columbus put last year's Supporters' Shield winner in a tie for third place with 29 points in their final match before the start of next month's Club World Cup. Winning this way gives us confidence, Mascherano said. It shows that we're brave and calm and can play against anybody, especially in the MLS. The tournament is another story. The rivals are are different level. Miami will face Al Ahly of Egypt on June 14 at Hard Rock Stadium, the home stadium of the NFL's Miami Dolphins. Before that, Messi will join the Argentina national team for World Cup qualifiers against Chile on June 5 and Colombia on June 10. Saturday was the second match of the season between Columbus and Miami, winners of the last two League's Cup tournaments. Inter Miami also beat Columbus to win the Supporters' Shield in 2024. They were the only remaining undefeated teams in MLS when they met in front of a record crowd of 60,614 fans to Huntington Bank Field on April 19. It was a single-game record for a Crew home match and the largest non-NFL event in stadium history. Miami won 1-0. Columbus made it 3-1 when Dylan Chambost's corner was headed home by Cesar Ruvalcaba against goalkeeper Rocco Ros Novo, who replaced Oscar Ustari in the second half. Mascherano said Ustari was experiencing discomfort in his leg and the team didn't want to risk an injury. Suarez restored Miami's three-goal lead with his second goal in as many matches. And Messi fed a through ball to Picault in the closing minutes, stamping one of Miami's most dominant wins of the MLS season. Miami played without veteran left back Jordi Alba, who suffered a lower-body injury against Montreal on Wednesday. PSG defeat will not have an impact: Inter president on Inzaghi's future
Inter Milan are eager to retain manager Simone Inzaghi if he chooses to remain at the club, according to club president Giuseppe Marotta, who emphasised that Saturday's 5-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final will not influence their decision. Luis Enrique's PSG secured their first Champions League title with a record-breaking margin in a final, while a devastated Inzaghi endured his second loss at this stage, following a narrow defeat to Manchester City in Istanbul two years ago. Inzaghi's contract with Inter runs until June next year, and Marotta confirmed that discussions with the coach will begin in the coming days. Meanwhile, Italian media reports suggest Inzaghi could depart as early as this month, ahead of the Club World Cup in the US, scheduled from June 14 to July 13. "This defeat will not have an impact. Inzaghi has a contract for another year and we had already decided to meet with him this week," Marotta told reporters after the defeat in Munich. Almost all the credit for this positive cycle is due to his professionalism and abilities. If he wants to continue, we are happy. "We are meeting with the coach because this club is not used to letting a manager go into the final year of his contract. There is no revolution underway. We will meet to hear what he has to say, I repeat, on our part, we are very proud and honoured to continue with him," he said. Marotta congratulated the newly crowned champions and acknowledged that Inter had been thoroughly outplayed by the Parisians. "Let's quickly forget and look to the next one, with the new start of the Club World Cup. We will be representing Italy together with Juventus," he added.

PSG deserved to win: Simone Inzaghi gracefully accepts loss in Champions League final
Simone Inzaghi gracefully accepted defeat after Inter Milan slumped to an embarrassing defeat to Paris Saint Germain in the final of the Champions League. On Saturday, May 31, Inzaghi's men lost 0-5 to Luis Enrique's PSG at Allianz said he barely recognised his side as PSG raced to their maiden Champions League title, recording their biggest win by margin in the history of the competition. Inzaghi didn't hesitate in saying that PSG were the deserving think PSG deserved to win," Inzaghi told the reporters in a brief press conference. For Inzaghi, it was a chance to make amends after his team suffered a narrow 0-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester City in the Champions League 2023 final in Istanbul. However, PSG didn't give many chances to get a foothold back into the match."There is great disappointment and bitterness because the boys have had a great run this season, and it's hard to end with no titles. As a coach, I'm still proud. We're not satisfied with tonight's game. We approached it badly... We didn't play the final in the best way, but I thanked the boys,' Inzaghi said.'We fully deserved the defeat'Inter Milan faltered under pressure as Dsir Dou and PSG's midfield dominated the contest. From the outset, Inter seemed content to let PSG control possession. However, as the match progressed, the French side's midfield asserted itself more aggressively. Inter made an early effort to play out from the back and briefly gained some rhythm, but PSG's relentless pressing quickly laid bare their defensive were more tired than PSG, who clinched the French title several weeks ago while we were fighting for the Serie A until the final weekend. We didn't play well technically, they got there first... We knew they were stronger than us, we knew we had to be better, but we fully deserved the defeat," Inzaghi must now turn their attention to the Club World Cup in the United States later this year in June. However, Inzaghi acknowledged that the heartbreak of losing the Champions League final will linger.
