Game 1 of the NBA Finals was shocking, to say the least, as the Indiana Pacers gained a victory over the Oklahoma City Thunders by a single point no one saw coming. The Pacers have stunned the crowd over and over again this season during the playoffs.
Whether it was the Milwaukee Bucks, the Cleveland Cavaliers, or the New York Knicks, they have all fallen at the hands of the Indiana Pacers so far. And now it looks like the Thunders are not exempt from this shocking turn of events either. And it all has been credited to one guy in particular - Tyrese Haliburton.
Indiana Pacers know how special Tyrese Haliburton is
25-year-old Tyrese Haliburton has been playing as a point guard for the
Indiana Pacers
since 2022. He has been a key player in their success so far this season, and the team knows it well.
This is why, after their crowd-stunning win at the Thunders home arena at the Paycom Center, the Pacers had a simple yet strong message: paying tribute to their best player.
They simply wrote "him." showing how important he has been to their season, and the impact he has had on the team so far. Haliburton was named the most overrated player before the playoffs began. And now people cannot stop singing his praises, as the young player leads his team on the path of glory.
Tyrese Haliburton and the Indiana Pacers sink the OKC Thunders at the last second
The last quarter of the game began with the OKC Thunders leading by 15 points. But it didn't matter when, at the very last second of the game, Tyrese Haliburton managed to score, which led them past the Thunders and become winners of Game 1. During his postgame interview, Haliburton said:
"Man, basketball is fun... Winning is fun."
Fans can surely understand how important this win was for the team, who have been the underdogs this whole Playoff season. But one after the other, the Pacers have managed to eliminate heavyweights like the Bucks, the Cavaliers, and the
Knicks
. And if the Thunders are not careful enough, their opponents will make a clean sweep before they can even understand what's happening.

Jay Wright not in the mix to coach New York Knicks: Report
Contrary to reports, former Villanova coach Jay Wright isn't in the mix to become the new head coach of the New York Knicks. Seth Davis, an American sportswriter and broadcaster, confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that Wright had told the New York Knicks that he intends to remain retired as he isn't interested in taking up the coaching gig. "BREAKING: Jay Wright has confirmed to me that he has informed the Knicks that he is not interested in any coaching position and plans to remain retired," Davis wrote on X. "Jay confirmed that he and his good friend Leon Rose discussed the position briefly but he was never offered the job or asked to interview. He simply reiterated that he plans to stay retired," Davis said further. The 63-year-old Wright spent more than 20 years at Villanova before calling time on his career in 2022. He then became an analyst for CBS and TNT. Mikal Bridges, Josh Hart, and Jalen Brunson are some of the current New York Knicks players who have been coached by Wrightat Wildcats. Hart also reacted to the rumours of Wright becoming the New York Knicks coach on X, joking that his former coach should "stay retired." "Man Thank You. Stay retired," he wrote. The NBA shared a video on X of the All-Star forward juggling a basketball with his feet like a soccer pro. 'More of P's soccer skills on display today,' the league wrote, adding to the fun with an earlier clip captioned, 'P always brings the skills. Now he's bringing them back to the finals 🔥.' Siakam has been deadly serious when it counts. He posted 19 points and 10 rebounds in Game 1, continuing a postseason that's seen him average 20.9 points and 6.0 boards. His performance in the Eastern Conference Finals earned him the Larry Bird Trophy after his stunning MVP-winning performance against the New York Knicks. Indiana's Game 1 win didn't fall right into their hands. The Thunder led most of the night before Tyrese Haliburton's game-winning shot with just 0.3 seconds left, completed a 35-25 fourth-quarter rally. The Thunder, previously 8-1 at home this postseason, lost only their second game at Paycom Center. Despite the win, both Haliburton and Siakam know the team has work to do. 'Hell yeah,' Haliburton told Siakam after the game. 'We did our job. Cmon baby. Let's get greedy.' Siakam replied, 'We didn't even play well.' Haliburton candidly acknowledged their flaws, 'We can't turn the ball over that much… But come May and June, it doesn't matter how you get them, just get them.' Now just three wins from their first-ever NBA title, the Pacers are chasing history, with Siakam chasing ring number two and Haliburton hungry for his first. As Game 2 looms, the Thunder, 10.5-point favorites per ESPN BET, are on high alert. As head coach Mark Daigneault warned, 'The better team is going to win.
