Spurs consider Son Heung-min sale in desperate bid to raise transfer funds
Tottenham may look to sell captain Son Heung-min in the summer transfer window in order to fund a squad rebuild. Son has been with Spurs for 10 years, making 454 appearances for the club, but there is a feeling his time could be coming to an end.
The Telegraph reports that, with one year left on his existing contract, Spurs feel the time is right to wave goodbye to a club legend. Son has attracted interest from Saudi Pro League clubs and this is the last transfer window in which he could generate a decent fee.
The 32-year-old forward has 173 goals and 101 assists for Tottenham since joining from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015. But while he returned 11 goals and 10 assists in 46 games, he showed obvious signs of regression in the 2024/25 season.
Spurs triggered a one-year extension in his deal in January to protect his transfer value and he could be targeted by a Saudi club this summer. The South Korean international is extremely famous in Asia and could still be an asset in the Pro League.
Tottenham ended a 17-year wait for silverware by beating Manchester United in the Europa League final last month, but are still planning a major overhaul. Manager Ange Postecoglou is expected to be sacked by chairman Daniel Levy and it seems Son could also be a high-profile victim of the changes.
He is currently away on international duty with South Korea, who face Iraq and Kuwait in World Cup qualifiers over the next week. But he is not expected to play in either match, with South Korea only needing a point from the two games to qualify.
Son missed the last Spurs game of the season with a foot injury and did not appear in the club's kit launch for the 2025/26 season.
Were he to leave this summer, Son would do so with his status as a club legend secure. He has been a reliable performer for 10 years and was able to lift the Europa League thanks to Brennan Johnson's goal in Bilbao.
"Let's say I'm a legend. Why not? Only today!" Son told TNT Sports. "17 years nobody has done it, so with such amazing players yeah today's the day. Probably today I will say I'm a legend of this club.
"I feel amazing. This is what I've always dreamed for and today is the day it happened. Dream came really, really true. I'm so so happy. I am the happiest man in the world."

Connor Roberts: Wales will go toe-to-toe with any team under Craig Bellamy
Wales boss Bellamy has overseen a dramatic improvement in fortunes since succeeding Rob Page, with the Dragons currently sitting top of their qualifying group for next summer's tournament in Canada, Mexico and the United States. Monday's World Cup qualifier against Belgium in Brussels marks the 12-month anniversary of their last defeat – a 4-0 beating in Slovakia that marked the end of the Page era. Bellamy has embarked on a nine-game unbeaten run since taking charge – by far the best start of any Wales manager – and has promised to go on the attack against group favourites Belgium at the King Baudouin Stadium. 'Yes. Straightforward answer,' Roberts said when asked if Wales were profiting from a mindset change under Bellamy. 'The manager has come in – and obviously I know him from his time at Burnley – and we will go toe-to-toe with any team. 'I'm not saying we'll win every single game but one thing is for sure, we are one as a team. 'As the Wales national team, we will give everything, and do the right things to try and win every game we play.' Former Wales captain Bellamy has spoken at length about the demanding playing style he has introduced since his appointment last July. It is a high-pressing and high-energy possession game with the aim to dominate possession and win the ball back as soon as it is lost. Roberts said: 'It's massively enjoyable for everyone. None more so than me having been here quite a while, and trying to play the way I know how to after being at Burnley. Hapus iawn 😁 — Wales 🏴 (@Cymru) June 6, 2025 'If you win games and put in good performances you will enjoy it.' Wales moved clear at the top of Group J after beating Liechtenstein 3-0 in Cardiff on Friday. Goals from Joe Rodon, Harry Wilson and Kieffer Moore completed a routine victory after Liechtenstein, ranked 205th out of the 210 teams in world football, had held out for 39 minutes. Wales hold a two-point lead from North Macedonia after taking seven points from their opening three World Cup qualifiers. Belgium began their campaign on Friday with a 1-1 draw in North Macedonia after conceding a late equaliser. Roberts said: 'We just have to concentrate on ourselves, go into every game to try and win, and that will be exactly the same against Belgium. 'Of course it's a big switch (from playing against Liechtenstein) but we have to keep being ourselves and not change. 'Why can't we go there and dominate and put in a really good performance? That is the aim, that is the plan, and hopefully we can achieve that.'

Liam Dawson: I'm ready to embrace unexpected revival of my England career
Liam Dawson is ready to embrace the unexpected revival of his England career, having spent the last three years learning to let it go. Dawson's international CV has been more stop than start since he debuted in 2016, a frequent squad member who collected just 20 caps across all three formats before an abrupt halt seemingly saw the left-arm spinner consigned to the past. As England searched far and wide for slow bowling solutions in red and white ball cricket, he quietly levelled up at Hampshire to become one of the most productive performers on the county circuit. Dip. Grip. Past the edge 😮💨 Back in the team 🦁Straight in the wickets 👏 Liam Dawson | #ENGvWI — England Cricket (@englandcricket) June 6, 2025 On Friday, the 35-year-old finally returned to the fold for Harry Brook's first T20 as captain and gave his team-mates a strong reminder of what they have been missing. He walked away as player-of-the-match after picking up four for 20 against the West Indies – his best figures in an England shirt – and a chance to end his playing days on a stage he had almost given up on. 'I had got to an age where I probably thought international cricket was gone,' he admitted. 'In my domestic career, I've tried to go out there and just enjoy playing for whoever I'm playing for. It was about going out there and not worrying about playing for England. 'I think that can hamper you sometimes so I've not really worried about that. I'm at an age now where I know that I'm close to finishing. 'I'm on the edge of that. So now it's just about enjoyment, trying to work smarter in your training and just believing that you're good enough.' 1st ODI, Edgbaston - Eng won by 238 runs 2nd ODI, Cardiff - Eng won by 3 wkts 3rd ODI, Oval - Eng won by 7 wkts 1st T20, Durham - Eng won by 21 runs 2nd T20, Bristol - Jun 8 3rd T20, Southampton - Jun 10 One man who has no doubt that Dawson has the quality to thrive is Brook. He was a driving force in bringing the all-rounder back into the fold and has earmarked him for a significant role at next year's T20 World Cup on turning tracks in India and Sri Lanka. 'Personally, I think he's been knocking on the door for years to try and solidify that spot and the performance we saw from him was awesome,' said Brook. 'Him and Adil Rashid working in tandem at both ends is going be good to watch in the coming years. He can also help the younger lads along the way, to have him in the inner circle when they are bowling is going to help us a lot.' Dawson's counsel could be particularly valuable for Jacob Bethell, whose electric batting and fielding is currently running ahead of his left-arm finger spin. England are keen for him to develop into a genuine all-round package and having a seasoned campaigner as mentor may be the key that unlocks his full potential. 'I'd love to speak to him about bowling and I'm sure I'll get to know him more as the series goes on,' said Dawson. 'He's a great talent. Watching him in the nets yesterday…he's a freak. I'm sure he'll play a lot for England.' The series continues in Bristol on Sunday and concludes at Dawson's stomping ground in Southampton on Tuesday, games he is surely inked in for already. Yet his experiences mean he has no intention of taking his shirt for granted. He added: 'I know how cricket works, you've got to be consistent and it's only one game. So I'll park this and go again. It would be nice to play at my home ground, if selected.'
