Ukraine stages major attack on Russian aircraft with drones, security official says
KYIV: Ukraine conducted a large drone attack on Russian military aircraft on Sunday, a security official told Reuters, saying 40 Russian warplanes were struck. If confirmed, the strikes would be the most damaging Ukrainian drone attack of the war, and would be a significant setback for Moscow. The official said that the strikes were conducted by the SBU domestic intelligence agency, and that they had simultaneously hit four Russian military air bases on Sunday. The source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said more than 40 aircraft were hit, including Tu-95 and Tu-22 strategic bombers, which Russia uses to fire long-range missiles at Ukraine. Reuters could not immediately verify the assertions. The source shared video footage, saying it showed the strikes. The images showed several large aircraft, some of which appeared to be Tu-95 strategic bombers, on fire. Ukraine, which lacks Russia's vast arsenal of missiles, has instead built up a large fleet of attack drones which it has used to attack Russian military and oil facilities. Russia had proposed a fresh round of talks in Istanbul on Monday, but Kyiv has thus far neither confirmed nor denied that it will be attending.

Paris St Germain supporters waited a long time to celebrate a Champions League trophy and when the occasion finally arrived on Saturday, thousands poured onto the pitch, with many taking home pieces of the goal and pitch as mementos of an unforgettable night. PSG stormed to a 5-0 thumping of Inter Milan in a one-sided final in Munich and after seeing their team lift the cup, large numbers of fans behind the goal streamed onto the pitch, with stewards struggling to maintain order. Police formed a cordon to keep them from going any further than the penalty area, much as PSG had done with Inter for much of the night during the game in an utterly dominant display. Many fans began tearing apart the goal net, while some ripped up parts of the pitch, with others intent on celebrating with the players who had just received the trophy. Fans were not alone in wanting to take home a souvenir of the greatest night in their club's history, with PSG midfielder Joao Neves also seen cutting off a piece of what little was left of the goal net. The PSG supporters created a deafening noise throughout the match and before kickoff as they roared their team on to victory. After the final whistle, they unveiled a huge banner in honor of Luis Enrique's daughter Xana, who died in 2019. While the pitch invasion at the Allianz Arena was peaceful, in Paris wild celebrations were marred by clashes with police.

Inter Milan Feels Pain of Another Champions League Final Defeat but Pride Remains
Inter Milan's heroics against Barcelona make its record Champions League final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain all the more disappointing for the Nerazzurri. Inter staged an improbable comeback to beat Barcelona 7-6 over two pulsating semifinal legs. But there was no sign of that audacity or confidence on Saturday in Munich, where PSG romped to a 5-0 victory for the biggest winning margin in a European Cup final. "It shouldn't overshadow the season we've had. You just need to think of the journey we've been on in the Champions League," said Inter president Giuseppe Marotta, whose team also knocked out Feyenoord and Bayern Munich. Inter suffered its second defeat in the final in three years after losing the 2023 showpiece to Manchester City in Lisbon. Inter was eyeing a possible treble after getting past Bayern in the quarterfinals. But it was beaten by city rival AC Milan in the semifinals of the Italian Cup, then lost the Serie A title by a point to Napoli last week. "The image that remains cancels a bit the great season that we have had," Inter midfielder Nicolò Barella said after the latest disappointment.
