Reward offered for information about double murder at waste site
The family of the Gqeberha father and son who were shot dead during a robbery at a dump site earlier in 2025 have put up a reward for any information that may lead to an arrest and successful prosecution of the perpetrators.
Heinrich Minnie, 47, and his son, Tiaan, 26, were killed at the Arlington Waste Facility in Victoria Drive on February 5.
Since then, little progress has been made in the double murder investigation.
On Thursday, the family announced that they were offering a reward of R6,000.
Police spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge said the case was being investigated by the Eastern Cape Provincial Serious and Violent Crimes Investigation team.
He also confirmed the reward being offered by the victims' family.
'A R6,000 reward is being offered by the family for information given to the police that may result in the successful arrest and prosecution of the perpetrator or perpetrators responsible for these murders,' Beetge said.
'Any person with information that could assist the police in their investigation is urged to contact Warrant Officer John Lourens on 071-352-4706, or Crime Stop on 08600-10111. Callers may opt to remain anonymous.'
The father and son had been disposing of rubbish at the tip in Walmer when they were gunned down in broad daylight.
Tiaan was shot dead while still seated inside the vehicle, while Heinrich's body was found next to the bakkie.
According to the police at the time, the suspected motive was robbery.

According to the 2025 amendments, employers with 50 or more workers are required to ask each worker to fill out a form to declare their occupational level in terms of race, gender and disability status information. If an employee refuses to fill out the form or gives incorrect details, the employer is allowed to use reliable past or current information to determine the person's race, gender or disability status. This process must be done at the workplace and is the employer's legal duty. The DA accused the minister of not conducting a formal investigation based on evidence to establish the 'South Africa continues to be one of the most unequal nations on Earth, with more than eight million South Africans unemployed and a small elite enriched, making the evidence against employment equity regulations undeniable,' Bagraim said. The Act as amended further sets hiring quotas for 18 economic sectors, from mining and transport to construction and agriculture, in a bid to increase employment opportunities for 'designated groups' including black people, women and people living with disabilities. The DA noted that South Africa no longer uses the Population Registration Act, an 'It cannot stand that employers become racial classification agents,' Bagraim said.

Arrests after burnt bodies found in KwaNobuhle, climb to eight
The number of suspects arrested in connection with the two burnt bodies, believed to be those of two teenage girls, that were discovered in KwaNobuhle on Wednesday, has risen to eight. Police spokesperson Brig Nobuntu Gantana said the suspects, aged between 16 and 27, would appear before the KwaNobuhle magistrate's court on Monday. Hitman jailed for brutal attack on elderly couple planned by son-in-law
A man who was paid R1,000 to kill an elderly couple as they prepared for Fajr — a sunrise prayer — has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the contract killing in Cape Town. Reagan Davis, 35, was handed two life sentences and 15 years' direct imprisonment by the Cape Town high court for the murder of 75-year-old Hashim Ahmed Dennis and attempted murder of his 70-year-old wife Kulsoem at home in Northpine, Brackenfell, on January 31 2020. Davis was a co-accused with the elderly couple's son-in-law Brent Williams — who died in February before the state closed its case. 'Senior state advocate Evadne Kortje proved the murder was a contract killing and the accused was paid R1,000, which he used to buy takkies,' said National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila. Evidence was led by 10 witnesses which revealed Williams and his wife Ibtisaam Dennis, who lived with the elderly couple, had marital problems. Williams hired Davis and an unknown accomplice to invade and attack his in-laws to 'neutralise' his marital problems. Williams drove the hitmen to the property and they gained access via a security gate at about 4am and entered the couple's flatlet. '[Kulsoem Dennis] heard the voice of an intruder asking where the money was in Afrikaans before brutally attacking her. The intruder hit her on the head, neck and chest with a gun. She chanted, 'Allahu-Akbar' [God is Great] until she hit the floor. Severely injured and in shock, she lay on the floor, pretending to be dead as her [headscarf] fell softly over her face and she kept her eyes closed,' said Ntabazalila. Her husband was attacked as he came out the bathroom and died after being stabbed 15 times.
