Foreigner bites off cop's ear during arrest
Although initially cooperative, the suspect suddenly bit off the officer's ear as he was being placed in the patrol vehicle.
PETALING JAYA : A police corporal had his left ear severed after being bitten by a foreigner who became aggressive while being detained at a private clinic in Metro Prima, Kuala Lumpur, today.
According to Sinar Harian, the incident occurred at 10.30am when the officer and his colleague were called to the clinic following reports of a foreign patient behaving erratically.
The 38-year-old suspect initially appeared cooperative after being approached by the officers.
'However, just as he was about to be placed into the patrol vehicle, the suspect suddenly turned around and bit off the police officer's left ear,' a source was quoted as saying in the Malay daily's report.
'As a result, the police officer, who is in his 30s, suffered severe bleeding and was immediately rushed to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for further treatment.'
It is understood that the officer is currently in stable condition and is scheduled for surgery to reattach the severed ear.
Sentul deputy police chief Jasni Zopal confirmed the incident and said the case is being investigated under Section 325 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt.
Preliminary investigations found that the suspect is a student at a private college in the capital. He has been detained for further investigation, the report added.
