Stephen Bunting's purchase after winning £100,000 at World Darts Championship shows true colours

Yahoo23-05-2025

Stephen Bunting has revealed how he spent his £100,000 winnings from reaching the semi-finals of the World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace. His impressive performance was halted by Luke Littler, the eventual champ, leaving fans to continue their wait for him to add a PDC title to his 2014 BDO world championship.
Despite this setback, 'The Bullet' didn't let disappointment get to him once he returned home. Shunning the temptation to indulge in exorbitant treats like a flashy motor or opulent indulgences, the 41-year-old instead chose to invest in something close to his heart – his family's happiness.
"Part of my money went on the garden and then we've also just bought a caravan in a Haven site in North Wales," Bunting shared with Spin Bet. "It's a lovely getaway from the house and from playing darts to spend some time with my family.

"Haven sites are always great for the kids so there is plenty to do there, and it isn't too far away with it being an hour-and-a-half from down the road. I can be in my own luxury caravan out the way and loving life.
"After the Worlds, I didn't get much time off because I came back on the day of the final, got home and had not seen the baby for a week and I had her in my arms. My manager then rang me and said I was going to Germany for a pro-am gala, so I wasn't at home too much to spend any money."
Bunting is reaping the rewards of his darting success, having amassed £573,000, which places him fourth in the PDC Order of Merit. Following the World Championship, he clinched both the Bahrain Masters and his first European Tour title at the International Open in Germany, bagging £30,000 for each victory, reports the Mirror.
Despite a challenging Premier League Darts season, the world No. 4 relished his lone triumph in Germany last month. Owing to his impressive World Championship performance, Bunting was invited back to participate in the eight-man Premier League for the first time in 10 years.
However, 'The Bullet' suffered eight consecutive defeats before securing a win on night nine in Berlin. His Premier League season concluded in Sheffield on Thursday, where Littler eliminated him in the quarter-finals.
With a record of one win, one second-place finish, a couple of semi-final appearances, and 12 early exits, Bunting ended up at the bottom of the Premier League Darts table with 12 points, narrowly failing to surpass Rob Cross's 14 points. Bunting's Premier League earnings totalled a substantial £60,000, including a £10,000 bonus for his night win.
Littler dominated the Premier League, finishing at the top with 45 points after achieving six night victories. Luke Humphries followed in second place, 11 points behind the leader, with three night wins to his credit. Nathan Aspinall and Gerwyn Price secured the remaining two spots in the top four.
The stage is now set for the play-offs on Thursday, May 29, at The O2 in London. Reigning champion Littler will clash with Price, while Humphries will square off against Aspinall in an electrifying contest to determine the Premier League victor.

Arsenal interested in signing Rogers, Brentford reject Mbeumo bid

Arsenal have added Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers to their list of attacking targets this summer. According to the Times, Rogers is admired by the north Londoners due to his versatility and Premier League experience. Advertisement Villa will want a substantial fee for the 22-year-old, even with Champions League football. Teamtalk say the Midlands outfit have also become the latest club to show and interest in Jadon Sancho after his loan to Chelsea from Manchester United ended. Sky Sports report that Manchester United have had an opening £55 million bid for Bryan Mbeumo rejected by Brentford. The Bees are willing to listen to offers for the 25-year-old, but have rejected United's bid of £45 million plus £10 million add ons, with the west Londoners looking closer to £60 million. Sky also say Manchester City are close to agreeing a deal with Wolves over the signing of fullback Rayan Ait Nouri. Advertisement The 23-year-old has only one-year left on his contract and both clubs have reportedly settled on a £33.7 million deal. Chelsea are reportedly keen on signing Mohammed Kudus from West Ham, according to the Daily Mail. The forward has an £85m clause for Premier League clubs, active for the first ten days of July. According to the Daily Mirror, Liverpool have no intention of selling Luis Diaz this summer. The Colombian international has two years left on his deal with the Reds with Barcelona and Saudi Pro League sides Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr reportedly interested. Elsewhere, Football Insider write that Harvey Elliot is most likely to join a Serie A side this summer if the 22-year-old was to leave Liverpool. Advertisement Clubs in Italy and Germany are closely monitoring Elliot's movements, with the midfielder struggling for consistent game time on Merseyside. Finally, talkSPORT say in-demand forward Viktor Gyokeres is open to a move to Manchester United, despite the Red Devils' lack of European football. Any move for the 27-year-old would be dependant on sales, with Sporting Lisbon dropping their asking price to £60 million from the £85 million release clause.

Italy will kick off their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign on Friday (2:45 pm ET), trying to qualify for their first World Cup in 12 years, with a trip up north — way north — to take on Norway in Oslo. MORE — 2026 World Cup qualifying hub | Premier League prize money list Advertisement Norway are already top of Group I with six points after two games, while Italy are yet to play a qualifier due to reaching the quarterfinals of the UEFA Nations League back in March when they bowed out to Germany, 5-4 over two legs. After failing to get out of the group stage in back-to-back World Cups (2010 and 2014, after champions in 2006), the Azzurri have regressed even further by failing to even reach the final tournament in 2018 and 2022. They did, of course, use those qualifying failures to bookend the European Championship trophy at EURO 2020, but Luciano Spalletti's mandate is clear: return Italy to the world's biggest stage. 2026 is an equally unmissable target for Norway as it is Italy, with Erling Haaland and Martin Odegaard trying to lead their country to its first World Cup appearance since 1998 and just their fourth all time. Norway won promotion to the top tier of the Nations League back in November, so the Røde, Hvite, Blå (Red, White and Blue) are clearly gaining ground on the rest of the continent and should be expected, at minimum, to finish top-two in the group and reach the playoff round. A massive, almost must-win for Italy in game no. 1, and an incredible opportunity for Norway to continue their dominant start (+7 goal difference) and take charge with a win.
